The movie has been done filming since May 2014. It was originally intended to come out Dec 2015, but ran from Star Wars. Then it ran from BvS. Filming will have been done for two years before the film is released.

Well, at least there is a trailer coming. Or at least that is what they say.

If LotR is filmable, Half-Life and Portal are easy game. Just need clever writing, like in the games.

Some would argue that Jackson's adaptation is proof that it isn't really filmable. The climax of the story was heavily changed to adapt it to a visual medium and it arguably lost the core subtext and themes of that climax.

I don't know of Half-Life is filmable because so much of what makes it special is the first person perspective and the interactivity. As you and others were saying, the plot isn't that unique and you lost Gordon's specialness as a protagonist as soon as he stops being a total cypher for the player. Game Design Greatness =/= Movie Greatness. So I would argue that they are probably unfilmable because you can't recapture the interactive greatness of those games in film. Sure you can tell the story, but that's not the same.

I think it went from December to March and then finally June. I'm guessing they wanted to avoid Star Wars and BVS.

EDIT: I see that this has been answered already.

Anyway...

I hope this movie is good. I'm not a WoW fan, but I liked the original RTS games back in the day. It would be nice if both this and Assassin's Creed are good. They could lead to more videogame movies.
