The Amazing Spider-Man Dylan Baker returning for Spider-Man 4

I would love to see Lizard as the villain but I never cared for his "take over the world with an army of reptiles" type stories. One of the best parts of the character, I think, is that he has a wife and son. Martha even died in the comics, leaving Billy with an unstable father.

I think it would be interesting to have Lizard be a more "low key" villain, in that he doesnt have a grandiose scheme but is more of a threat to his family (and even Peter's loved one's. Imagine Lizard attacking the Bugle and Spidey thinking "You thought Jameson was a loved one?!") and anyone that stands in his way. Its actually a little creepy, esp for parents, I'm sure, to think that a kid is under the care of a potential monster. It would make a good contrast from SM3, where Sandman's whole motivation was helping his daughter.

I honestly dont believe a mindless monster would be a good villain or produce a good story.

A villain is needed who has evil intent, good charisma and striking presence. And a villain who is actually capable of thinking and talking straight. Lizard will be a letdown by himself and as a mindless rampaging beast, whos only threat is eating people. Kraven should be involved to fill that void. If not,Im sticking with Mysterio.

Lizard as a monster, who is capable of speech and knows exactly what he is doing is the way to go. If his goal is to turn people into Lizardmen,Im down with that. Better than trying to freeze the world and replace it with plants, isnt it?

Kraven would add the deep darkness and seriousness of the movie. While Lizard would add the science gone wrong aspect again, which has always been there and doesnt get tiresome.

If the Lizard is going to be another redeemable villain, then forget it. Keep Dr Connors human and bring on another, 100% evil villain.

I was glancing through Paul Jenkins Spectacular Spider-Man "The Lizard's Tale" arc and kind of liked the idea of Dr Connors still suffering from depression over his missing arm. He doesnt fight becoming the Lizard anymore, because "its hard to feel pain when your brain is the size of a walnut." I dont know if that's pure evil but its damn selfish.

...But Connors is a sympathetic character, which is what I think we'll see, and quite frankly, I think it fits best.

Which sucks, because Doc Ock will not die a monster.. Harry Osborn died a good boy and the Sandman didn't die but ended up forgiven.. Please

Well, at least Gobby and Venom stayed SOBs. Not that I wouldnt have minded if they had been even more evil before they passed. I still would have liked Norman to backhand Harry for getting mouthy with him in the car before he enters the museum. "Dont you ever forget who you are talking to." :gg:

Lizard Connors is sympathetic to his wife...that is about it.

Ahhh Green Goblin -- with a different suit, he would've been one of the best comic-book movie villains (to me, of course)

Even Ock wasnt that evil. He lost that quality by being a schizophrenic, having his arms convince him to be be a criminal.

THE ******* MECHANICAL ARMS WERE THE MOST EVIL VILLAINS...Makes me cry.

I thought he needed to pwn more. He should have double crossed the OsCorp board of directors, not the other way around. :cmad:

Haha true -- but they died anyway, so..

don't worry. it will happen. i think delaying it further is a good thing. when it eventually does happen, it's going to be that much more effective emotionally.

yes i agree and what would be cool about that is if Carnage doesn't make it to the Venom spin-off and is in Spider-Man 4 Carnage could do the severing of the limbs

Not gonna happen. Raimi hates the symbiotes.

They also say that casting is underway for a male villain, which would rule out Dylan Baker finally showing up as The Lizard, given that he's already joined the cast for the fourth film. Of course, both a male and female villain would completely negate the widely-accepted belief that Raimi will pare things down after the Spider-Man 3 debacle of too many villains.

This, of course, all remains very much a rumor, and I expect in a few weeks we'll have an official casting announcement that either confirms or denies all of it. McAdams would probably be great as a spunky foe, though, and a lot more interesting than the faux-threat that Gwen Stacy offered in Spider-Man 3. We'll likely all see McAdams in Sherlock Holmes come December and think the casting is perfect-- and by then, we'll also probably know if it's true or not.
interesting

Oh god, if they use Black Crappy then there's no hope for SM-4.

I disagree... she could a good addition to the franchise. I'm more concern about "they". "They" does not understand or how to use Peter/Spidey and his supporting characters.

Or maybe there will be only Felicia, and no Black Cat for now...

Yeah, that's just what we need, another piece of ass for Peter to look at, and MJ to get all jealous over again. I couldn't stomach a repeat of MJ's behaviour in SM-3. She was horrendously bad.

agreed, we already had Gwen create more drama, i guess now it's Black Cat's turn
