Raimi acknowledged that the fans was not happy about the "Power-Ranger" goblin suit from the first film. I think he wanted to do something different and James Franco suggested a more "modern hip look".

I disagree... Sam had control over more than you think. Eddie/Venom and Gwen was the only thing pressed. It was Sam's idea to half-arse Venom, not Avi Arad.... to write a lame story and motivation for Eddie/Venom, to give Gwen such a useless role, and everything else involved with the story; including the crying, dancing, and ******ation. Don't discount Sam's role in this film; and, don't expect any better in the next.

Still, it's not he who is writing the script now. They've hired some great writers for this movie so I still have hopes for it. However, I won't hype the movie as much as Spider-Man 3 was hyped. I don't want to end up with the same disappointment.

Yeah you're right, but still, we don't know how the movie would have ended if it would have gone as he initially wanted (Vulture instead of Venom, he and Sandman escapes prison together and form a plot etc.). There would be no dancing and no cookies, since the symbiotes wouldn't appear at all. There would be no Stacys. The main problem was that the movie tried to be too dark just because of the symbiote theme. Also, Venom and Sandman had nothing in common, so that's why it felt so forced in the end. In the original plot, Sandman and Vulture escaped prison together and then decided to take Spidey down as a team. I think Raimi would have directed Spider-Man 3 in the same vein as the previous ones if it wasn't for the symbiote (however, I'm not saying it would've ended up as good as the previous ones). The ideas I heard of his original story seemed very good imo. That's why I don't think we should rule Raimi out, as long as he gets what he wants.

It's not that I don't have faith in Raimi for this one. It's just that I got too hyped for Spider-Man 3 with the amazing trailers and all, just to get disappointed in the end. Also, I know that Raimi can do huge mistakes, even though I have faith in him for the fourth installment. I just hope it will be as entertaining as the first one.

Yeah, I agree with Venoms'dad. Sam has more control and therefore will have input in how the story will ultimately be written. Given his style I wouldn't expect any major changes in what he has established overall in this francise.

Well that's what I heard was going to happen...who knows with script re-writes etc before January though. Micheal Bay is supposed to be taking over after Rami for 5 and 6, so maybe he will want to handle the Spider-slayer stuff and they'll keep that for the next movie. In any case, good on the movie makers for being more original than AF15 and making Uncle Ben's killer a massive robot, they really should've thought a little harder and come up with that in the first place.
