E3 2008

So what does Sony have planned for next year? So far i got:
-Killzone 2
-God of War III

Anything else?

Wow, in terms of new games, this E3 is absolutely TERRIBLE.

However, there are a lot of games previously shown that have made me more excited:

- Resident Evil 5
- Infamous
- Little Big Planet
- Killzone 2 (surprising, I know since I absolutely hated the first one. However, this one looks like an improvement and should at least be decent.)
- DC Universe Online

I hope to hear more about the following:

- The Agency
- Prince of Persia

So far, I'd have to say I'm impresseed with both MS and Sony. Yes, nothing new was revealed, but they still showed committment to the hardcore gamer. Fans of both have every reason to be excited.

As for Nintendo, I have nothing to say. After Brawl, I have seen nothing that has even remotely caught my interest.

Surprisingly absent from E3 was Naughty Dog. There should have been an announcement about Uncharted 2 or the next Jak game.

Infamous. Thats the one Im looking forward to the most

I think you mean 'when'. It's going to happen. Sony would never give up their hugest franchise.

i think Metal Gear is slightly bigger than God of War.

Couldnt care less about Jak, but im dying for another outing with Nathan Drake.

I want to care about Ratchet and Clank, the same way I wanted to care about Jak and Daxter. The problem however is that I started neither series at the beginning. Jumping in late to a gaming series can be done, but isn't always as enjoyable as following that series all the way thru. Plus I don't feel like tracking down those previous games via Ebay, tho the R&C demo from the PSN was fun.

I echo wanting a new Uncharted tho.

I could care less about Jak as well but those are their 2 franchises. If they arent working on 1, then its the other. Its odd that nothing was announced from them

R&C is not a series thats heavy on the story. I jumped into ToD with no problem and I never played any of the PS2 titles. This isnt a MGS like game here, You should be fine just picking up any of the games without worrying about tracking down the old ones

THANX LAST SON
Has anyone downloaded any of the movies or shows?
How long does it take to download?

2009 will be a great year for Sony exclusives if you think what's probably to come.

What's definately there:

- Killzone 2
- inFAMOUS
- God of War III
- MAG - Massive Action Game
- Gran Turismo 5 (at least in the UK)

What's probably going to hit:

- Heavy Rain
- Uncharted 2
- Ratchet and Clank Future 2
- Incognito's new project
- Metro 2033: The Last Refuge

And I'm sure there's stuff I'm probably forgetting. That's 10 titles, and we're probably looking at least 7 of them definately hitting. So its kind of rich to laugh at Sony saying they're all about exclusives when they're promising to follow up 2008 well.

Do you really think God of War 3 is going to hit next year? They just showed a teaser, not even cut scene footage. That game won't hit till at least 2010. I also wouldn't hold my breath on MAG for next year either, seeing how long it's taking for them to finish Home and Little Big Planet.

Looks like Ratchet and Clank are going to milk Future 1 with downloadable content, before getting a true sequel. Plus if you haven't seen at least a trailer or announcement for Uncharted 2 yet, you probably won't get a sequel till 2010.

Once again, it's more of the same wait a little longer, we've got tons of potential. Hey they have a ten year plan for PS3, I'm sure years 8 and 9 will be AWESOME!

So just because they didn't show GOW 3 footage at E3 (one of many big video conferences), it won't be out in 2009? Wow.
I think they were trying to showcase games and features for this year. Specifically Resistance 2, LBP and the video store. There is plenty of time to show footage at GDC/GAMESCom or LGC if they want to. In fact they don't even have to do it at a conference at all.

Insomniac have managed a game a year, and with another studio opening, they'll be able to get even more done. I'd say Ratchet is very much so on for next year.

We didn't see MotorStorm 2 until earlier this year, and that's out at like October. Naughty Dog will be getting whatever they've got out by the end of next year, they're too efficient for a 3 year developing space.

MAG and GoW 3 as far as I know, were told for 2009 releases.

No I think maybe Sony will try to have at least one exclusive per quarter next year i am guessing something like
Q1 Killzone 2
Q2 R&C
Q3 MAG
Q4 GOW III

March has always been GOW's month. If it comes out in '09, it will be then.

Not sure you if you guys care for Naruto or not, but the PS3 exclusive Ninja Storm is looking Amazing. I've kinda lost some interest in the series, but the game itself seems to have perfected cell shading. It also seems to be more than just a 2D fighter at the PSN video demo shows you fighting something larger than a house heh (Gaara during the Chuunin exam arc).

I think if marketed right that will be a big exclusive as well as Naruto, much like DBZ, has a pretty devoted fan base. Even if you don't plan to buy it tho I recommend watching that video from the PSN just because of how pretty the games looking heh. Tho one downside is the inclusion of the sometimes annoying US voice cast, I'm hoping for the option of subtitles and the Japanese voice cast.

Unfortunately this E3 was appearently themed:

"The E3 of no real announcements."

:(

I think E3 is slowly going on the way of Comdex, which preceded E3 and was huge, until lack of interest and attendance caused it to be cancelled back in 2003. If E3 doesn't get its groove back, with all the extravagance and exclusives, I don't think it will be around after a few more years.

Here's a good article about it: Do we really need E3?

Dead Space had me at "complete dismemberment" lol. It's seriously about time someone did something new to the whole headshot and their dead deal. Having to take off each limb to kill something just feels new. Tac on them saying it's dynamic, that killing an enemy by dismembering him early on may be the wrong choice later and make things worse, makes it sound like you're going to have to work for these kills.

I also was digging the weaponry being linked to futuristic mining, like a gravitational arm band deal for loading heavy equipment being used instead ot lift enemies, or a statis field, and a cutting tool and so on. The weapons make sense rather than just randomly being there.

I also liked the enemy designs and the way you just stumble across them midway thru the process sometimes. However I hate the name "Necrozombies" or whatever it was. It sounded like the online name of some emo kid trying to sound cool, might as well have called them "Ravenflames" or something lol.
