When Kojima Productions launched a web teaser, many noticed "April 2007" written at the bottom of the page. People wondered what it referred to and if it was code for something. It's not.
That date, Konami now confirms, was an accident. "April 2007" referred to the release date for Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's Grindhouse. As pictured, Kojima Productions and Konami used the movie's flash site in creating their own teaser site.
"We accidently uploaded the unfinished site," Konami Japan states. "The design team used the website for the movie Grindhouse as a reference for a prototype teaser." Those checking the site before it went live were "lax" Konami contends. "The prototype was uploaded as is," Konami continues. "As soon as our staff noticed the discretion, it was switched out for the finalized website."
Not sure how Dimension Films or Troublemaker Studios feel about their web-design work providing a template for this teaser site — and apparently without permission at that.
Now that Warner Bros. Interactive has its hands on the precioussss Lord of the Rings license, Shacknews reports that the company has revealed its first game based on the franchise. The game was listed among Warner Bros' E3 debut titles and is reportedly named The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest. Okay, so an LOTR game starring Aragorn. That could be really aweso ... oh, wait, what's this?
Shacknews states the game "is the first Lord of the Rings videogame created specifically for kids and their families" and features "accessible gameplay set in a friendly, colorful rendition of Middle-Earth." Oh dear.
Capcom isn't the only Japanese developer to be gun-shy about this year. Yokohama-based company Koei is also preventing staffers from attending the Los Angeles gaming convention.
Unlike Capcom's decision to restrict travel of all Japan-based employees, Koei is sending a limited number of its Japanese developers to this year's E3. "With regards to E3, due to the current nature of and concern over the Influenza A (H1N1), KOEI has reconsidered international travel," the company told Kotaku.
"As a result, there will be a limited number of staff from the company's Yokohama-based headquarters attending this year's show. However," the company added, "members from our Toronto studio, KOEI Canada, will be at E3 to speak about a new title that will be publicly unveiled at the show." Think of that new game as a consolation prize.
With Surprise Guests and Revolutionary Announcements, This is An Event You Do Not Want to Miss!
What: Konami's E3 Press Conference
Featuring a variety of high-profile speakers for all major platforms, Konami's Press Conference will highlight games across all genres targeted towards players of all age groups and skill levels. Konami will feature groundbreaking announcements that you will truly not want to miss.
If you've not got a countdown on your website then your game's a nobody. Splinter Cell: Conviction, Assassin's Creed 2 and even Hideo Kojima have becomes masters of the tease. So to, has UK indie studio Just Add Water.
The UK developer recently began work on its first major PlayStation 3 project and a countdown has appeared on the dev's website that points to an E3 reveal.
The countdown ends at 20:30pm (BST) on June 2, which going by our E3 plan of events is right around the time of the Sony press conference. All we know about the title is that it's a retro style game.
The studio is also working on "various other projects on other platforms". Check back over the E3 week (June 1-5) for the full reveal.
We earlier reported that the second secret title which Capcom will unveil at E3 2009 is non other than Devil May Cry 5, well we contacted Capcom asking for their word on this rumor.
Capcom immediately Replied saying, ‘It’s a title fans have been waiting for, everyone will have to wait until E3 to find out what the secret title exactly is but we can tell it is definitely not Devil May Cry 5′.
There you have it, it’s not Devil May Cry 5 but Capcom stating that ‘It’s what fans have been waiting for‘ certainly excites us and after giving it some thought we came up with 1 title that hasn’t been announced yet and has alot of fans waiting Onimusha 5.
As the days until E3 officially begin wind down, Capcom continues to leave a few hints about their secret E3 game. Thus far, the company has left a number of teases for gamers to speculate about: It’s something fans have been waiting for, it’s from a classic Capcom IP, and it’s not a remake. Oh, and it’s not Devil May Cry 5 either. Capcom is again being asked questions about the game on their twitter account and handed out two more hints. First, it’s not a fighting game. Rather, it was answered that it is an action game. That rules out all of the Capcom’s fighting IPs such as Marvel vs. Capcom. The other hint that was released is that Capcom Japan is developing the title. So this title is an in-house developed game unlike titles like Spyborgs.

Lame. A new MML with 360/PS3-level graphics and environments vs. a retro Mega Man X game? I'll take the former any day.
If we couldn't get a new Legends game, then I would be down for a new one in the X series. I always loved the X series.
Although I don't see much point in them bringing it back. Mega Man Zero was a continuation of that series and Mega Man ZX is a continuation of that.
We've received word on what Square Enix will be showing at the E3 event, and fans of two of their biggest series will be extremely happy with the media set to get far better access to some key products than we had initially hoped. As much as we would like to tell you the specifics it has been requested that the names of the games be kept under wraps until the company has a chance to officially announce them. However, for the sake of excitement we thought we would give you the heads up so you can discuss it amongst yourselves.
We don't want to push our luck on this one, but there is no Square Enix press conference this year so you can expect an announcement prior to the E3 show regarding no less than three big surprise games which are currently unannounced - at least two of which are multi-format. We wish we could tell you more, but knowing something is better than knowing nothing debate below, but don't ask us because we're not about to spill the beans.
same here. I loved MMX. Id love to see a new one but with updated HD sprites. I dont want them to do what they did here what they did with MM9If we couldn't get a new Legends game, then I would be down for a new one in the X series. I always loved the X series.
Although I don't see much point in them bringing it back. Mega Man Zero was a continuation of that series and Mega Man ZX is a continuation of that.
