so no one else was put off by resident evil 6 being a straight up third person shooter with "cinematic" garbage thrown in?
Haha, I expected it and also don't mind cinematic garbage too much. Resi 5 already made the jump away from core RE so I'm just into this as a regular good looking action game rather than a RE game.

i don't think i've ever seen a more underwhelming conference. No, not disastrous like sony 2006, or nintendo 2008 (2009?). But just an utterly uninspiring showing.
MS 2011? Most annoying conference ever at least.

Yeah, after RE5, I'm done complaining. All I can do now, is pray that we won't get ridiculous stuff like the boulder punching.

I think I've come into terms that the direction the series wants to head is more action-oriented than survival horror. I'm still the ever optimistic in which I hope that the demo was just to show off the action-packed side because I'm not sure I could stand it if the whole game is like that.

Also I find it funny that they mentioned Leon's section is more of a classic survival horror in the level of the classic RE games, if that is their definition then Chris' section must be action you'd find normally in a Michael Bay movie.

This right here is exactly where my disappointment stems from. They said specifically that Leon's part of the game was going to have that classic Resident Evil flavor. At the time I thought to myself, "Well, if they can only make 1/3 of their game survival horror, I guess I should be appreciative and take what I can get."

But what we saw at E3 was so far removed from that, that I ... I really have no words. If that's the most amount of survival I can expect from the game, then Resident Evil is well and truly dead. At least from the standpoint of survival horror.

Well, at that point he's in Shanghai and looking for Chris. I'm still hoping that Leon's early levels will have more of a survival horror feel.

What? You mean to say that Usher's riveting performance didn't blow your mind? :funny:

I think it was a tad better than previous years. While the content of the show was equally as boring, the presentation was much better. I think they finally realized that no one wants to see kids prancing about on stage or bros pretending to play football. So I'll give them credit for keeping the Kinect bull**** as minimal as we can realistically expect. The media stuff seemed to drag on and on though.

I'll give them D+.

I thought it started strong. But, then just...got deflated. I think the dashboard stuff kinda killed the momentum they'd built up at the beginning.

Yeah, they only seemed to have one really Kinect heavy part of the show and at least they got a hot girl to do it. That counts for something. :funny:

I think MS is starting to realize that the motion sensing aspects of Kinect are incredibly limited and are instead focusing on the voice activation capabilities.

It's their own fault, from what I hear.

The refusal to include some wand, or stick, or something (like the PS Move) is what I hear has pretty much made the motion sensing stuff unpredictable and winds up being wonky.

The media segment dragged mostly cause of smart glass and as I said before..I'm guessing it's a for shadowing of the next console's controller or console!

Remember the good ol' days when Peter Moore would walk out on stage and say, "We're going to show you nothing but trailers and gameplay demos. No sales. No charts. No marketing. Just games. Boom! Moore out!" and then he would drop the mic and walk away? :D

It did start strong. The dashboard stuff should be done somewhere else for people who are looking for that side of it.

That's what I've been saying all along. Kinect has more applications and is way more interesting as an input device than a game controller.

Well there's still hope though,Maybe they showed this action stuff at E3 cause that's what most of the game will be like and the horror survival element will be done in a few missions as surprises!!

The problem was ending with Black Ops 2. Everyone was expecting something else, and then the demo was way too long and Treyarch were probably expecting a huge uproar of applause just because you could choose whether to do a boring sniping section or rappel down a wall.

Last year they announced Halo 4 which would have been completely out of the blue had it not been for the leak. At least that was something.

Looked interesting enough but I fell asleep (pretty tired anyway) during it. Bad timing. I'd be interested in a purely tech update with no games and then there would also be noone getting disappointed that there are no games.

The thing is, none of it is really revolutionary. A browser on a console has been available for six years. Smart glass controller....Nintendo did it. And from what I hear, Nintendo isn't having much success with it (explaining WiiU's delays). All of the multimedia functionality, Apple did it years ago. The media stuff felt like MS throwing a bunch of **** that others have done together, throwing the giant piece of **** at a wall and hoping some of it sticks. If this is what we have to look forward to from Microsoft in the next generation, I think I'll pass.

Agreed. COD is nothing unique or new. We've had a new COD game every year this generation. To end your show on not only that, but a game that will be on other consoles that everyone already knows about....that is the definition of underwhelming.

I actually think if they truly wanted to, they could make a RE game in vein of the classic ones even without Shinji Mikami but I dunno, I guess they just want adapt the series so it'd be more action-oriented since those games is what selling really well nowadays, it's either that or they want to play it safe so it would fall into the tastes of what the current gamers like. All I can hope for now is that I spoke prematurely regarding Leon's section but who knows. I want to believe.

I think they should have announced Gears last or was that also impossible not to leak?

Exactly. It's mind-boggling to think that they still think those opening moments where the cars exploded would still be thrilling to us. It was identical to any other CoD showing since CoD4.

And I like CoD, I'll play this but... man, grow up gaming industry. Please.

Microsoft has been coasting for at least a couple of years now and it showed this year more than ever. If they can't even get excited about Halo and Kinect and what have you, how can they ever expect us to?

This generation has gone too long. I have zero intention of buying another console after Wii U, but I can't wait until they're announced so at least E3 will be fun again and game devs are allowed to do new and creative things.

Yeah :csad: How popular will this NBA & NHL thing be in the US? Does it mean you can watch as many games as you get on cable channels or however it works.
