Early Reviews.

I'm glad there's some people out there who knows how to enjoy a film for what it's meant to be.

Bad? I never understood this line of thought. Just because a film belongs to a certain genre, it doesn't mean it should get a pass for being bad.

That bothers me but wont stop me from seeing it Friday.

People's only real expectation of this movie was just to make it enjoyable on a visual/action level. But if it can't do that then this movie is certainly a fail.

You could still have that mindset and have the movie be terrible.

Stop defending it, if it's bad...it's bad. I'll have my review up late tomorrow night so I can't say anything but things aren't looking good.

Exactly but to be honest I havent read any of the reviews on RT but I am wondering what there picking at. Is it the effects or is it just how crazy the movie is?

As a Ghost Rider fan, I will be seeing it regardless of reviews. I saw the first one at the theater and thought it was bad. Rewatched it again over the weekend to "prep" me for the latest film, and must say there is no way SoV can be as bad as the first. No way.
Basically, I'm going in with low expectations. If it's better than the first (which i absolutely fully expect) then I will be happy.

I just watched it and if that's all you expect then i say go. I loved the action and the visuals, now the plot not so much. Wasn't exactly expecting the plot to be overwhelming or even average anyways, so i enjoyed it.

Just got back from the midnight, I liked it, it was a fun ride and the action was hot, sorry I couldn't resist lol, 9/10!:ghost::up:

I agree with the guy that sat behind me.

"So f******* horrible."

If you want mindless action (and I swear the Rider must be completely brain damaged, the way it acted) and cool FX but nothing else, by all means, see this movie. Its as dumb as Dark of the Moon, but mercifully much shorter. That is its redeeming quality.

Just watched it... My short review via phone:

Action: B
Story: D+
Performances: B
Direction: B
Special Effects: B+

**Spoiler Alert**

The movie had lots of dark humor, great 'Caged-up' performances. Cage is within his element in this film...too bad for all the cheesy lines. The action picks up from the very beginning and is the saving grace for this movie for me. I do believe however that the action could have been better with rated R. There was some violence that the camera panned away; that was a little frustrating. The locales chosen were spectacular and it surprised me how well they fit this movie. Ghost Rider looked good on screen, yet his persona was not Ghost Rider..more like a playful demon. He made lots of strange poses, almost as if he was 'En Vogue'ing the camera getting ready to do a dance routine. GR didn't have any memorable quotes. The penance stare looked like a good concept on the script, but I didn't get if he was giving his victims the stare or taking their souls...in the end he burned some of the bodies..so it's hard to say what happenned. Dan and Christopher Lambert's character were both pretyy disappointing. Dan in this film has absolutely no connection to the comic story and there were no clues at the end of the credits. He was just a vessel for Satan and that was it. Lambert dies real quick and didn't have much dialogue. Blackout's powers didn't really work at all on GR...he never stood a chance. Again, the villains were absolutely no challenge to GR. Even with those gripes, the action and chase scenes were masterfully done.

My advice for GR Fans is that they should give it a try. Its a fun action movie, but its not GR.

I got a few questions to ask. Some of the reviews said that the last showdown between GR and Blackout wasn't that great. Was it true? And was the pissing fire scene stayed in the film? or it was just some trailer promoting stuff?

I don't like that they screwed with the Demon Mythology from the comic book. First, Mephisto is not Satan, he never was. Second, they made Zarathos a corrupted angel. Zarathos was one of the most powerful demons, and the one that Mephisto truly feared. I like the movie though, it was a good popcorn flick.

It's all about know what to expect, if anyone expects this film to be thought provoking with a good story is sorely misinformed.

The directors of this film directed the Crank series, that should pretty much let you know what you're in for and it's not giving it a "pass" or defending it's having realistic expectaction based on who's involved.

I can't defend a film I haven't seen, so there's that.

Zarathos is pretty much a corrupted angle in the comics as well, just saying.

Ah my bad, I thought he had always been a demon.

The woman on the radio gave this a 1/5, I mean a ONE??? I hardly rate any movie as low as that. She just really hated it, said the acting was poor inc Idris Elba, poor special effects and brought up the pissing scene.

Regardless I will be watching, I enjoyed Crank 1 and 2, and Gamer so I'm looking forward to seeing what the directors come up with this time.

Here's a positive video review from IGN, the reviewer gave it a 4/5 and even said he can't wait to see it again.

The reviewer also said the way Ghost Rider moves reminded him of Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees which I think is pretty awesome.

Another very positive review, this one is from Den Geek and they also give it a 4/5.

Here's a fairly positive review from Movie Review Intelligence, giving the film a 60% which is the same as being 3/5.

Finally this a review from The CBR Review, it's quite positive and while they didn't rate it their reviewed seemed to indicated something of a 3.5/5-4/5.

So far there's been a lot of praise regarding Cages performance which a huge plus, a few reviewers even said this film has one of the "top 5 Cage moments".

Just out of curiosity, are these reviewers who will be recognised on RT?

Only 2 stars from Empire...

The first Ghost Rider was derided for its lack of edge — something Crank’s Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor were meant to fix. Instead, here’s another 12A attempt at the guy whose skull periodically explodes into flame as he sucks evildoers’ souls. Nic Cage and Idris Elba both clearly have a ball, but the plot is fatally unoriginal — Cage’s Johnny Blaze teams with Elba’s priest to save a boy from Ciarán Hinds’ devil — and it’s neither as funny nor as balls-out fierce as it should be. With the directors failing to tweak their style to fit 3D and the Ghost Rider still an inchoate presence, this is less a film than a tattoo that lasts 90 minutes.

Ooh... 2 stars from Total Film as well...

A handful of lustreless FX showdowns are used as so-so bookends, but without the Western kookiness and half as much hot-chain-whipping action, it somehow manages to make the 2007 original look pretty good. Not for nothing is the most memorable moment doused in a stream of flaming piss…

Funny in all the wrong places and long at 95 minutes. Cage might be on fine psychotic form, but the flaming skull barely manages a sizzle this time around.
