There is every possibility that either Hulk or Thor could show up in some form, it could be cameos at some point in the movie OR some reference ie names or pictures......I cant see IM2 not having a thread to other characters that will make up the Avengers.

Having a Banner/Hulk cameo would be awesome. They should have Fury mention Hulk to Stark at some point in the film, but before Tony agrees to become a part of the team. After the big climactic battle, when Stark decides to join, Fury asks him to have a talk with Thunderbolt Ross, relating back to his cameo in TIH. It would also be cool to see that same scene at the bar near the end of IM2, maybe even extended so we see what happens after the screen faded to black in TIH. Then, after the credits, we get a full blown cameo of Banner/ Hulk.

I just think that would be a really good way of tieing in the cameo so it makes sense. Just an idea....

The boy-band reference from the SDCC'09 screening of IM2 footage. By the time TIH rolls around, it seems he's on board with the idea, per his cameo in that movie.

I'm thinking that *maybe* Stark's conversation with Ross at the end of TIH was more pertaining to SHIELD as the "team" they're putting together. As far as they know at that point, Thor and Cap don't exist (well, Cap's in the ice, but..), so why, even after the events of IM2 (when Cap and Thor haven't had their films yet and haven't been introduced to the general audience) would he already be talking about the Avengers?

They may have used the word "team" in the script to get people excited and jumpstart the Avengers hype, but I really think he could have been just referring to SHIELD looking to help Ross find Banner - they're "putting a team together" of SHIELD operatives. Thus, we go into IM2 with Tony already having had done some work for Fury and SHIELD (trying and failing to find Banner, thus the tension with Fury and Stark wanting to work alone), but not being interested in formally joining that "boy band" Fury is hoping to build.

That way, the chronlogical order of the films is as they were released - IM, TIH, IM2. Just a thought, though.. I really hope Marel doesn't confuse the general audience by mixing these timelines up in a way they won't grasp.

I agree I see no reason in flipping the timelines. Rather they should tell the Avengers story in a consistantly progressive timeline. IM2 should be considered to be after TIH

Who is to say that at the end of IM1, Stark was pro joining a Team then went to Ross at the end of the Incredible Hulk and told him about the "team"......a few drinks later he changes his mind and thinks that solo is better thus the conversation with Fury in IM2......just a thought

No, iron man 2 will take place before the incredible hulk. In iron man 2, stark will not interested by the avengers project.

In the end of the incredible hulk, he seems ok with fury and his avengers's project.

Personally, I think IM2 takes place at around the same time as TIH. Things just seem to make more sense and fall into place a bit better, at least for me. I'd also like the idea of Thor occurring at the same time as IM2, or perhaps a few months earlier, like during the 6 months between IM and IM2. I'm sure the guys at Marvel are worried about the timeline too, and Im also sure by the time all the individual characters movies are released, we'll understand the arrangement of things before Avengers is released...

I'd just be happy if Norton shows up as banner, I don't see exactly why hulk himself would be in but if he is then cool.

It does seem that the timeline, so far, is this: Iron Man - Iron Man 2 - The Incredible Hulk.

And the over-lapping timeline, featuring all films including Avengers could be this:

The First Avenger: Captain America(most of the film) - Iron Man - Iron Man 2 - The Incredible Hulk - Thor - The First Avenger: Captain America(as we do have a rumor that not all of the film will be based around World War II) - The Avengers - Iron Man 3(I see this film taken place at least a year after IM2)

I could see a small cameo by Banner work out just fine in the middle of Iron Man 2.

Banner walking up to the front desk at Stark industries and asking if he could see Stark but Stark wasn't in.

I really don't think we'll see Hulk. Banner maybe, but Hulk no.

Here's my idea:

Banner is in his cabin on the woods, making tea, when the phone rings. He sits in a chair and answers it. It's Stark. They talk about their simillarities and differences, and Stark's ends the conversation saying: "We'll find you, Banner. And we'll destroy the monster inside you". Banner says "Bring it on", and ends with, "By the way, Stark... Tell Fury his soldiers won't be harmed. Not much.". Banner hangs up. Stark wonders. Banner smiles and closes his eyes. Suddenly, a SHIELD squad bursts into the house, guns pointed to Banner. He, surrounded, but still smiling, opens his eyes. They're glowing green. He starts becoming the Hulk, as he cut the black. The last thing we hear are gunshots and a thunderous roar.

I could see this:

Stark and Fury are relaxing in Fury's office. Talking about the Avengers how Stark can't believe the stuff about Thor and Captain America.

The door behind Stark opens up and Fury looks up and just flat out stops talking and looks up in total shock.

It's Ross and Banner together.

That or Betty and Banner.

I agree with this... but what's going to make him change his mind? That's the million dollar question. Maybe Hulk tearing up Stark Industries? Who knows?

Edit: I like protocida's scenario... needs work on the cheezy dialouge though. As I said though, if Hulk is in it has to be some kind of cliff hanger, but we won't get a full Hulk episode.
