Here are the two factors that lead me to have a different opinion and strongly disagree with you.

One, I work in News and Current Affairs for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, which is Government funded and prides itself on being entirely impartial. It's not privately owned, especially by Murdoch, so it isn't influenced nor does it have an agenda other than simply reporting the news. My father has also been a journalist for 40 years and I've watched him, my whole life, completely disregard whatever his own beliefs were, in order to present a balanced and factual reportage of current events and politics.

The other factor is the difference in Media in the US. You guys simply have vastly less options or places to go for non biased news. In Aus it's quite simple because basically all the commercial news programs are recognised as being sensationalist, with the more trustworthy programs being the ABC or SBS (our World News and Foreign Affairs channel). In the US, you guys are bombarded with so many shouting voices, proclaiming to be news, but is in fact just editorial diatribe.

I agree with what you say though Pat, about the news we partake in being biased towards our own beliefs. The problem is that not enough people's beliefs seem to involve actually getting balanced, factual information. Without a desire for that, you are essentially willingly giving up your own critical and analytical thought in place of being told what to think by whatever news source you've chosen.

This has nothing to do with right wing vs left wing. Someone spouting BS statistics they heard on the O'Reilly Factor is just as misguided as someone letting all their opinions be coloured by Jon Stewart because he's 'funny'.

Alright, I'm done :P

Government underfunded more like.

It's actually the most reliable source since the Government doesn't have any place in the running of the network. You'd have to know about the Westminster system of Government to understand it, but it's tax payer funded and is the oldest TV station in the country.

In fact, most of the chairmen on the board were actually put in place by the last Government, which were right wing, so it fits nicely in the middle. There is also a balance and regulation board, who monitor all news/CAFF content to make sure there is no bias. I'd wager FOX news doesn't have one of them.

Oh, a balance and regulations board, well then that makes up for everything. Lord knows a group of appointed individuals always looks out for the citizen. Sorry bud, ill take my Rupert Murdoch owned FOX and Microsoft owned MSNBC before i ever, even think of listening to the hot air that comes from any government, ecspecially one that wont let its people play Mortal Kombat.

Ok, im done, for realz this time.

Jesus. Did you not follow the concept I just outline, that the Government has no level of control over the content or running of the network at all? It's purely a source of funding, like any hospital or public school. But I suppose those institutions are full of Government propaganda too...

Let's drop this whole subject. It's getting thoroughly depressing.

Well i flat out dont buy it, but i like you too much to keep pressing...and because i said i was done with this, i even used "for realz", which is like ironclad.

Yeah, let's leave it. Besides, it's a flawed discussion since I understand the political and media landscape of your country but you don't know the same for mine, so it's hard for you to make an educated assessment and I can't justifiably criticise you for an opinion without all the facts.

Let us celebrate this peace with the drinking of mead.

Haha. Ghosts.

How do u get the house in Solitude? I thought u talke to the Jaral but when i do, i get no quest lines or anything

Be friendly with the Jarl of Solitude and Falk Firebrand will start shooting you quests to do. They're pretty easy but once done you still have to pony up 24000 gold for the house which I'm actually not able to do.

I don't own a house, I can't see my character being the type. But, it is nice to have a place to keep all my junk (usually fancy things people give me) so I just dump it on followers like Lydia, who I don't use.

Easiest money maker ever: Buy as much refined malachite and moonstone as you can. Try to keep a 3:1 ratio of malachite to moonstone. Forge as many glass bows as you can, while leaving enough malachite to refine them. Then refine them. You can then sell them, or go somewhere and enchant them and then sell them. Typically I'd spend about 400 Gold on supplies per bow, and unenchanted they'd sell for 800-900. Add a couple hundred for an enchantment (paralyze seemed to get the most) and you can start raking in cash by just hopping from smith to smith and doing that.

also to make loads of money is to do the thieves guild/dark brotherhood missions. Also only buy 1 house and save save save to reach the 100k then buy another house. you really only need 1. Riften or solitude are the best houses because they have a potion center, enchantment place, and 2 places to put your armor instead of putting it in a chest.

It's called confirmation bias. I'm not even gonna hop into this debate coz I think nowadays right/left wing is just an illusion lol but have at it I guess.

I bought the house in Riften, was planning to make that my main home... and then one of the mannequins in the basement moved. It was in its regular place when I went upstairs, I came back down and it was standing in the doorway. Yeah... that move ain't happening.

That reminds me of the Majora's Mask Creepy Pasta. If you meet a boy named Ben, turn off the game and never play it again.

Is it possible to pickpocket someones clothes off? And if you do, can you replace their clothes with other clothes?

The level 100 perk of Pickpocket is stealing equipped items, so probably.

For replacing what they're wearing, I'm not sure. I know I removed Lydia's Steel Armor via command console and had her wear Steel Plate armor. However, she'd eventually take that off and be naked all the time. I had to kill her and then resurrect her to fix it

Yea i knew
U could do it with followers, wasnt sure about other people tho. Guess theres only one way to find out snd thats to level up pickpocketing snd try it

With Lydia, I don't think her Steel Armor actually showed up in her inventory, it was something that she'd always have and always wear (I think she upgrades if you give her better Heavy Armor).

If you don't want to start putting all your perks in Pickpocket, I can try it Friday and let you know.

Do any of you guys own the PS3 version of this game? I'm wondering if it's as horribly broken as I've been hearing.

I haven't paid close attention since I have it on PC, but I think the most recent patch is what messed everything up. If you haven't downloaded that, I think you should be ok as long as you play offline.

I also recall reading the game gets incredibly slow the more you save. I don't think fewer save files will help this, it's just that the game has to record more and more each time it saves.

My experience has not been as bad as reported, but I have had issues. Before the first patch, once a save file grew to around 6mb, the game would start dropping down to a single digit framerate after a few hours of play. I only experienced a few major instances of this where it was literally 1 fps, resetting this system fixed it.

Since the patch I haven't experienced anything too bad, though I can definitely feel it creeping in again now that my save file is 12mb, every so often I get maybe 20 seconds of hitching. I've also had a few lockups, but that is typical of all 3 platforms. That said, I have put in close to 80 hours with this game and overall it's been a fairly bug free and great experience.

I hope they can hammer out this save file/framerate stuff because it is a bummer when it hits, and is definitely effecting some people much worse than it has me. And the most annoying part of it, is that all of their PS3 releases have had similar issues related to growing save files and they haven't ****ing figured out how to fix it yet. Thankfully they are specifically working on the issue and even asking for save files from people.

Last edited:
my framerate drops when its around 15 people on screen and a dragon overhead. other then that no issues. couple freezes, but always after a save so I was always right where I left off.
