You have to go to prison . That's how you finish the quest

I've completed the Companions quest and am now a werewolf (after a agonizing stint as a vampire).

I made a huge mistake in The Forsworn Conspiracy quest by choosing to fight the guards at the Shrine. Now my bounty is beyond that of taking prisoner and I can't complete the rest of the quest...Unless there is a way to bribe everyone?

I just killed the 3 guards in there and it said all witness were eliminated and that my bounty was erased.

I finished it without going to jail.

Well, you missed out on a portion of the quest then, where you go to the prison, help out the dude there and get some cool Light Armour.

I went to prison but didn't help the dude out. I wolfed out and murdered everyone. I do that a lot.

Are you sure it's part of the quest? It could be a side quest that happens the first time you go to jail regardless.

No it's part of the quest. There's 2 options to finishing the quest with 2 different outcomes.

I've been looking for a reason to take a side but after reading this, it made choosing a side much easier

It's a difficult choice to make, but basically what it comes down to is this:

If you would rather the Aldmeri Dominion and the Thalmoor rule Tamriel and enslave the non-elven population, side with the Stormcloaks.

If you would rather the Empire keep the peace and (hopefully) bide their time until they are strong enough to counter-attack and possibly defeat the Aldmeri, side with the Imperials.

Explanation- The Empire lost a rather long and bloody war with the newly formed Aldmeri Dominion, or the Thalmoor after not having a "proper" heir to the throne after the death of Martin Septim in the Oblivion Crisis. The high elves and the bosmer banded together and produced their current ruling party, the Thalmoor, which seeks to return Tamriel to Elven rule. Thus ensued the great war, which the Empire lost, but not totally, enabling them to keep sovereignity, if they banned the worship of Talos, whom the elves do not recognize as a god, probably due to him once being a human (had he been an elf, I doubt the Thalmoor would have cared so much). Now, the Thalmoor weren't stupid, and they knew that banning Talos worship, and having permission to enforce it themselves, would cause a great rift in the population of Skyrim, by far the most troublesome region of the Empire. Should Skyrim destroy itself with a civil war, the Thalmoor will much more easily be able to crush the empire entirely.

Ulfric Stormcloak is playing right into the hands of the Thalmoor. Instead of going underground with Talos worship, which in this case would have been the logical action to take, he instead chose to challenge the high king for sovereignity of Skyrim, so that he could himself oppose the Thalmoor, with Skyrim behind him. To do this however, would require breaking ties with the rest of the Empire, which would leave both the empire and Skyrim incapable of dealing with the power of the Aldmeri Dominion, and, separated, both would fall. Ulfric's intentions might be noble, but he is definitely going about things in a way that will acheive nothing but the destruction and enslavement of his beloved Nord peoples by the Thalmoor. Ulfric also happens to be a rampant racist, and would probably turn out to be just as much of a tyrant as the Thalmoor, should he somehow pull off the impossible and defeat both the empire and the Thalmoor. This makes Ulfric and the Stormcloaks simply not a viable choice if the player cares at all about the future of the non-elven races, and the Empire itself.

The Empire, while viewed as siding with the Thalmoor is actually taking the only viable choice in a tough situation. Should the Empire win, they may be able to bide their time and rebuild their power until they are able to challenge and end the threat of the Thalmoor. That cannot happen until the Stormcloaks are defeated however, and the longer the civil war goes on, the worse things will turn out for Skyrim and the empire as a whole. Regardless of whether or not you like the empire, they are unequivocally correct; and should you hate the Thalmoor, you should side with the Empire, as you are only furthering their goals when siding with the Stormcloaks.

As it is, regardless of who wins the civil war, it will already likely take generations to heal the emotional wounds dealt to the people of skyrim this conflict has brought; but shoud the Stormcloaks win the aftermath would be even worse, with the Thalmoor taking over and enslaving the Nords and all other non-elves who reside in the region, and who knows how many hundreds of years it may take to overthrow them?

After you speak to him, go up the stairs to exit. I'll say no more!

Do you know how many stairs there are in Skyrim & I exited his little house thing. So can anyone be specific with how do I continue this quest ?

So when is the patch coming or did it come already? Haven't played Skyrim in a while. :(

Donut, it seems like you need people to help you with just about every quest in this game, in fact I've seen you doing it a lot for other games too, these last few months. Did it occur to you to just figure these things out yourself?

I played as a chick at first but I got so overwhelmed by all the quests and misc. objectives... it felt silly that all of these urgent matters would wait for me.

So I started a new character, this time a dude. Faendal was dead when I first got to Riverwood so I looted his house. Two days later, the sun sets so I begin chopping wood, which I plan to do until morning. I've got about 100 firewood to sell when these two guys came out of the night and killed me in about five seconds. I lost everything. Pissed, I go to my last autosave and chop again. When I have about 90 firewood to sell, I dump them in a barrel, then save and wait... the two guys come back and it turns out they're hired thugs. No note on either of them. Whatever. I dump their bodies in the river and keep on chopping wood.

Five days or so after that night, I'm coming down the 7000 steps when a hired thug greets me near the corpse of an ice troll... took him down easily, looted the note... lol, turns out Faendal sent them to teach me a lesson from beyond the grave.

On a side note I'm happy I started the main quest. Playing for 50+ hours, I just found out now that you have to hold down the shout button to say more words. :(

lol plus it's easier to ask google if you're ever really stuck.

I've chopped so much wood that my carry weight was something like 8000/320 and the best part is the guy never runs out of money.

 I only chopped enough to buy a house and furnishings though. Chopping for three nights in a row netted me about 900 firewood. :o

Just wondering. Has anyone else played the werewolf form in this game yet and found it a bit underpowered? While I think the wolf form has quite a lot of strength it just seems that it can't take too many hits. Add that with the fact that it's cut off from any sort of menu option, powers and potions it feels cut off from the rest of the game in terms of play style. Right now it makes more sense for me to stay in human form where I can take on enemies with a lot more ease.

Also is it just me or is there only one werewolf model for the entire game?

I decided to choose it for the same reason. In one of the main quests [blackout]when you break into the Thalmoor rep's office in Solitude, one of the documents you steal says they want the Stormcloaks to win.[/blackout]

I feel the same way. The Werewolf thing is cool and all, but I do more damage and am more effective as a human

There is only one set of stairs out of his little ice house, assuming we're talking about the same guy/quest. After you give him the Lexicon and speak to him *something* should happen when you get to the top of the stairs in his ice cave/house.

If it didn't trigger, it must have glitched on you.

It does have a different pace and style. I use it as a last resort mostly. Being able to take down a giant in two running swipes tells me there's some power in being a werewolf. Now, they tell us that your one-handed skill governs your melee ability but I also have a hypothesis about what governs your ability to take damage in wolf form. I specialize is heavy armor, so naturally I neglect my light armor, and its probably my low light armor rating that makes my hp also low. Another drawback to being a werewolf, I've seen youtube vids of guys roaring everyone away in a town, even guards, but when I try to do it the guards are the only ones who aren't fleeing in terror. They get some swipes on me with arrows and swords so I have to work quickly and retreat most of the time because of this feature that is either a flaw or a balance. And as far as controls, I cannot map out the special attacks I have at disposal and have to chalk it up to being random critical animations. I would really like to have those moves to be used at my leisure.

I can clear out a dungeon or cave FAR faster as a wolf monster than I can as a normal nord. I only use the wolf power when someone makes me angry.

Yeah, I need to be a Wolf far more often.

I've been having second thoughts about being a werewolf though, purely because of what the leader of the companions said. I don't want my dude to be Hircines ***** in the afterlife, I want to go to Sovengarde and drink meade for eternity :P

Being Dragonborn and all, I'm sure the Nine could bail you out of that.

I don't believe in that mumbo jumbo.

I'm a werewolf purely for the disease immunity. Bite all you want, Skeevers, you won't rockjoint me.

Really? I have no problem clearing dungeons with my legendary daedric sword. :woot:
