hey thanks!

does it matter what level I do the quest to get the Dawnbreaker sword?

would it be best to wait till I'm a higher level before getting the sword so that it will have higher stats?

Level? That really depends. There's two parts to the quest, the first is to retrieve Meridia's Beacon which has you fighting through a particularly tough den of Bandits. If you're going in all gung-ho, better bring a dog and an companion because that's quite a dungeon you'll have to clear. Not to mention that the den is located quite a distance from the Shrine of Meridia.

The 2nd part of the quest assuming you're still in one piece is to return the beacon to the shrine and kill the Undead and some Necromancer in her temple. Its a pretty straightforward puzzle-ish type dungeon but the pay off is pretty solid.

Does Dawnbreaker's stats change when you get it at a higher level? I don't really know. When I got it, the DMG was about 36. Now that I've improved it to (Superior) quality, I get a DMG stat of 44. You might need to check on more in-depth walkthroughs.

I killed Heimskr without the guards coming after me. Even they wanted him dead.

i have noticed that weapon stats upgrade when i upgrade. my mace did 74 damage when i first got it, now it does 98 damage without one handed upgrades(armor, necklace, ring) with upgrades it does 180 damage.

so i think damage levels with you because if you are level 5 and the sword does 10 damage its great, but if the same sword does 10 damage at level 30. you are going to upgrade, but usually they know you want to use quest items the most so they make them valuable beyond the level you get them on so you can keep on using it. least thats how i feel it works lol

I know in Oblivion some items you got were based on your level so you either had to wait to get them or get the mod that adjusted them for you. I don't think that's included in Skyrim now. I haven't seen anything on UESP that shows the stats of an item by your level.

Well, I guess I'm done for the most part. Did all the various guild quest, wrapped up the main story and logged in over 100 hours between two characters. I'll probably let the game cool for a couple of months before rolling a new character, save for DLC. Otherwise, very much satisfied.

Yeah, I've done the same, although only with one character. I did a bit of everything, clocked in 90 hours. Now I think I'll save this main character for getting all the achievements, completionist stuff and make a couple of new specialty characters. I'd love to role play a rogue character who uses NO magic, and only do the quests/guilds relevant to him, and then do the opposite with a Mage magic only character.

Can't wait for DLC either.

There is a mod that replaces spiders with bears. I am strongly considering trading in PS3 Skyrim, waiting until after the holidays, upgrading my PC and switching over.

Does that mean bears will descend on webbing from the ceiling? :woot:

so.....has the patch for the PS3 been released yet? and does it fix the performance issues that many people were reporting?

Why would they fix that?! That's hysterical.

im waiting for that patch, because man, last night when i played the framerate dropped to about 2 and it happened while i was in battle clearing out a fort for the army...and man it took 10 minutes for something that should take 4 minutes.

The patch is available already for the PS3, I played for maybe 40 minutes and didn't notice any framerate issues.

Huh. So apparently if you take Farkas as a companion, and he dies, he'll respawn back at the Companion's HQ after awhile. That's cool.

That is terrific news. I accidentally hit Farkas square in the face with my warhammer. He didn't make it......he....didn't make it :csad:

Yeah, I went to the Skyforge and randomly saw subtitles attributed to Farkas. I was like 'What?! He be dead! Slain by damned Hagravens!' But there he was... I'm hoping his brother is back too.

I was kind of hoping they would gimp the stealth elements. It's over-powered and becomes repetitive. I'm playing Arkham City at the moment and that seems very balanced in comparison. It deliberately throws curve-balls at you to stop you using the same tactic over and over for both combat and stealth. The only real exploit I have came across is repeatidly diving bombing from rooftops over and over. For the most part though, it is very good and Bethesda could learn a thing or two.

I don't think it's entirely fair to compare the stealth elements in a game that isn't a stealth game to a game that is very much a stealth game.

Not to mention the stealth elements in games like Skyrim and Oblivion are very much D&D based with both detection and damage mechanics. A good high level rogue in D&D can cripple a person with their sneak attack, often getting a one shot kill on a high level opponent.

I am suffering from some pretty severe Skyrim fatigue. I tried to play today and just couldn't. I gotta take a week or so off from ol' Skyrim. I did some power playing this weekend and hit level 63. I think it's bout time for a vacation.

Personally I think it's totally fair. Skyrim has an entire skill tree dedicated to sneak with specific sneak related items. When I created my own built, I specifically pre-thought out that I wanted to play as a Rogue. Shogun 2 isn't totally a RPG game but I would say thats skill tree is more balanced than Skyrim as well.

Batman Arkham City works in a similar manner regardless of stats. Critical strikes, instant take downs. The diffrences with stats doesn't really stop Bethesda from looking at it and saying "hey this is really good". The combat in Skyrim is taken from Bioshock, which isn't DnD at all. And I beleive the perk system, from Call Of Duty.

When you progress through Arkham City, Rocksteady attempt to mix things up. Nightvision goggles to stop the player just perching on top of Gargoyles. Scramblers on specific NPC's that stop the player from abusing detective mode. Hostages that prevent the player from appearing and dissapearing. Even though you are basically going into a room and doing the same thing over and over it never feels reptitive because the game is giving you these little tweaks with each encounter. Skyrim was kind of getting there with those ghosty skeletor people you can stab when they are sleeping like a statue. But I haven't came across that again very much so far.
