Elder Scrolls V - Part 3

In the latest post on the Bethesda Blog, they give out some light info about the next patch as well as other future patches:

This week we released update 1.2 across all platforms, and we’ll be releasing an incremental update next week. We anticipate it will be up on PC first, and then hit PS3 and Xbox 360 later in the week. Among other things, the update will fix issues like magic resistance not calculating properly and the rare, amazing backwards flying dragon. Once the update is released, we’ll share the full release notes.

After the holidays, we’ll continue to release regular updates for the game — through full title updates, as well as incremental “gameplay updates” to fix whatever issues come up along with rebalancing portions of the game for difficulty or exploits. We plan on having a lot of these, not just a few. Overall, you should expect updates to be hitting the PC and Steam earlier and more often, as that’s a process we control. Console updates will follow, as they must be certified and processed by those manufacturers.

We all know this is a huge game, and everyone has a different experience. We’ll continue to do everything we can to make the game better and better for as many people as possible every day. We’ve also realized that with the millions upon millions of people playing Skyrim, we need to treat our updates with greater care. If we get too aggressive trying to fix a minor issue, we run a risk of breaking something larger in a game like this. To be safe, we are prioritizing code side fixes right now over data fixes. Quest and balance issues are usually data, and those will start rolling in a large way with the January updates.

They also talk about the Creation Kit and a new mod thing on Steam called Steam Workshop.

I'm at level 31...but I have 3 characters.

The other two are at 11 and 13.

Yea i agree. Went ahead and threw that b***h onto my iPhone. B***h being the song, not the chick, as that would be impossible.

I think there's a "soft" cap of 50 and a "hard" cap of 75.

That girl performs that song better than any of the bards in the game! :D

...how did you not make a sex joke out of this post? how in the hell? so much beautiful innuendo...

Bethblog said: Creation Kit - Beginning in January, PC players will be able to download the same development tools we used at Bethesda Game Studios to create Skyrim. In tandem with the Creation Kit's release, we will roll out a new Wiki and videos to help you get started. It also features something we think you're going to love...

Steam Workshop - We're excited to share news that we've been working closely with Valve to integrate Steam Workshop into the Creation Kit. Using the Workshop, you'll have free user content with the push of a button. The Creation Kit will bundle your mod and upload it to the Workshop, where everyone can browse, rate, and flag mods for download. You'll be able to do this from any web device, including your smartphone. Like a live Netflix queue, when you fire up Skyrim, mods you flagged will be automatically downloaded and installed. Everyone here is really excited about the opportunities and possibilities this opens up for our entire community.

See, they love the mod community.

Earlier complaints against the mod community being disrespectful were silly.

So they delayed the release of the CK to add this STEAM workshop integration thinggie.

The implications of this for the modding community will be huge...and i'm not sure it will be all positive. I understand that they did this with team fortress 2, and the modders can receive payments for their mods. I'm curious if this will be the case with Skyrim workshop mods.

And we already got the NEXUS...why put this in opposite side of the Nexus?

would it be a good idea to wait till the next set of patches before picking this up on the 360?

most of the posters here have said that they have had no issues with the 360. but a few here ( and elsewhere ) have said the latest patch created new issues.......

Don't let bugs be the reason you wait to pick up this game, Bethesda is notorious for them. I've only had a handful of "wtf?" glitch moments and I'm playing on the 360. There's none that are really game breaking though. Like, I had this happen earlier today.

lol.

I don't know if they were particularly silly, but there were some details I agree with, like judging a game on its own merrits than whether than what mods come with it. But then again, I'm more of a console gamer. I don't think mods are disrespectful though

Mods on Steam might actually get me to start downloading some of them.

lol.

thanks.

that IS a WTF moment!! lol :awesome:

how bout the "texture" issue. I know that initally the 360 had a bug which caused lower textures when you played from the game installed ( by not from the disc ).

The latest patch was supposed to fix that. but now I'm reading some people say it made the situation worse, as the textures are messed up even when you play off of the disc......

is there any truth to that?

I haven't seen any texture problems, but iv only spent like 3 hours in the game since the new patch.

You can always just not install the new patch, right? I know you can skip updates on the PS3.

thanks. hope you don't run into too many problems down the line.

that's true. but then, you would miss out on the day 1 patch that was released ( as I believe you can't "choose" which patch to install ).

71 over here

This is a genuine question not meant to appear smartassed - are you guys in relationships, do you have full time jobs, and have you kept up with other hobbies? I'd love to be at a higher level, this is genuinely the most time consuming game I've ever played lol. But I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong compared to you high level people!

Yesterday I found a troll trapped inside one of those hollowed out trees, the kind that are still standing. I could see it's head pop up and arms flailing about, it kept roaring trying to run at me but was quite trapped there.

I fired a couple of arrows, but they just lodged themselves in the bark. When I got close the troll hit me. I was finally able to kill it with a couple of sword strikes.

The only major glitch, which doesn't effect gameplay but seems quite common, is seeing random weapons floating around in the air. I once also watched a black spot float across the sky for almost a minute, I like to imagine it was just a really high flying dragon.
