I brought this up a few pages back but nobody gave a good god damn. It's like I'm repellent.

lol it happened to me once if it makes you feel any better.

Anyway, saw a merc wearing Ebony armour. Oh yeah. Had to kill that bish.

I am kinda new to RPG's, the only ones i have played are ME series, and dungeon siege 3. Do you guys think skyrim would be a hard game for me to get into?
If you like the ME series, you’ll like this. There’s A LOT more freedom to play how you want. You can spend HOURS just exploring without doing a single mission, if you so choose. Mass Effect is a lot more focused, so you might find yourself overwhelmed with options in Skyrim at first. Just remember that there is no “right” way of playing. The whole point is to do what you want, when you want.

I need to get this game. All I've been doing is watching a Lets Play on YT of this and it looks incredibly fun.

Found some glass armor and the mask of Krios (sp?) the other day. These look awesome together.

Easily Game of the Year. Easily.

I do however feel that MW3 will win "GotY" on Spike... Not like that show matters anyway..

I kind of doubt that will win. I think it's either going to be Skyrim or Batman.

I'm 89 videos in this walkthrough of Skyrim I'm watching and I think it's safe to say that Skyrim is very much game of the year. The gameplay mechanics seem really responsive and the clanging of swords and the blocking is some of the best I've seen in any video game.

Nah, Skyrim is an RPG that kind of adapts to how you play.

Thanks for the help :yay: I found a great deal online, and i am going to be picking this up

Skyrim has had a huge amount of support from the gaming community. And what Skyrim has over MW 3 is there are plenty of Non-Gamers jumping on the Skyrim hype bandwagon, the same of which cannot be said for MW.

I had it happen to me once too. Even worse, said dragon taunts me, as his body remains unbonyized in the entrance to Riften, flopping around whenever I fast travel there (which is often since its one of my stops for my Glass smithing money making ponzi-scheme)

If you compared the stats of the number who bought or played Skyrim against the people who bought or played Oblivion, with the number of people who bought/played MW 3 against people who bought/played Black Ops, I think you would find a significantly bigger increase of people on Skyrim than with COD. A lot of the people who are loyal to COD and buy every game, primarily only play COD. These aren't necessarily the same people who play an active role in the online gaming community. I feel pretty confident in my prediction that Skyrim will win far more GOTY awards than MW 3.

But there are far more people playing COD then Skyrim. But it doesn't matter, as number of units sold isn't needed to win GotY.

That's not in dispute. At all.

You said that Skyrim had more "non-gamers" excited for it than Call of Duty, which I think is totally false. Without getting into Facebook game territory, Call of Duty is the non-gamer game. You even said in your last post that a lot of people who play Call of Duty probably only play Call of Duty.

COD is to consoles as what Angry Birds is to handheld devices.

Not to mention, you go read video game based webcomics. So many of them have done Skyrim comics, even weeks after their release. MW3 Comics? I haven't seen any. In a few of my classes after Skyrim came out, that's all everyone talked about. Kotaku has had several articles about Skyrim every week (excluding all the bug related ones).

There's more buzz about Skyrim, there's just more to talk about it. How you built your character, how you've played quests, the crazy stuff you've done and seen. MW3 it's mostly just bragging about your K/D ratio.

COD is just becoming old and tired. That's why there's a lack of attention on it. Same old same old.

Guitar Hero was all the buzz and rave when it came out and a couple installments later Activision successfully drove it to its death.

Yeah, even Rock Band fell off after The Beatles version came out. There's that new game that's supposed to be more realistic in teaching you guitar, but I'm sure most people think "I don't need more plastic instruments to clutter up my space."

I had a dragon in front of whiterun for a long time, I dunno where they went lol but I'm happy they're gone.

Yeah, I furrowed my brow at that. Skyrim is definitely getting more gamers that generally aren't interested in RPGs, but I don't think it's attracting people who don't play games like Call of Duty does.

I don't follow your logic. The people who only play Call of Duty ARE gamers.

I'm talking about people who don't play or own games consoles being interested in Skyrim. It's become one of those 'it' games that everyone is talking about. The sheer number of memes and in-jokes being based around it is staggering. It's regularly trending on twitter, most gaming websites have been consistently posting new gameplay/fan made videos. It's been getting more consistent coverage than many other games.

Where are you getting the impression that MW 3 specifically has more hype around it, other than just assuming it does due to the size of it's franchise?

Soapy is right though Wolvie.

The main complaint towards MW3 is that it attracts people that generally aren't gamers. Sure Skyrim has garnered a ton of attention from non RPG players but the memes and whatnot I would assume were started by people who were already fans of the franchise and it snowballed from there.

But in terms of which game attracts the non gamers it would certainly be COD still. Thus the noob friendliness of the game. It attracts the worst of the worst.

But you are talking about two completely different things. You are talking about COD attracting people to playing it's game. That contributes to sales, which has nothing to do with the game getting game of the year. It might contribute to the games commercial success, but it's purely a matter of which game has more vocal support, and so far, all evidence has been pointing to Skyrim. COD might always be bringing in a consistent number of young, non-gamers, buying COD because their friends play it, but I think we can all agree the gaming community, journos and gamers alike, have been all about Skyrim for the last 2 months. In fact, I would say for the most part, COD has majorly only really been referenced regarding the COD vs BF competition, which raises another issue of whether BF could get some GOTY nominations over COD.

Don't forget how GOTY is all about the politics of the games industry.
