Elder Scrolls V - Part 4

It's not PC gaming, it's PC gamers. For some reason they seem so damn desperate to show you how superior their gaming experience is. It's like they need validation for all the money they spent. Go on any large gaming forum and you'll see a thread like "Show off your setup" or some other BS like that where PC gamers post pictures and brag about their ridiculous multi-monitor, LED infested computers. You don't see console gamers doing that. The PC guys are just really into dick measuring I guess. Not all of them are like that obviously, but certainly many of them are.

Hahah console gamers mod their systems and show them off too.

edit: too late. :o

It's annoying when I mention a mod and people just dismiss it and say they don't care. Like last page with the Morrowind HD mod after people say they want an HD remake. The first 2 replies are "no one cares" and "I bet the animations suck ass." I just think "Jeez, sorry for sharing." There's a cool mod for Skyrim that adds some really neat spells but I haven't bothered posting the YT video because I know people will just react the same way.

I think thats because it comes off as tho you aren't "just sharing". You are saying, look what my PC can do that your console can't. Again, telling us how big your "dick" is. I mean maybe thats a completely inaccurate description of what you personally are doing, but not for the avg forum posting PC user.

Which is why I haven't bothered sharing many PC mods, everyone just thinks it's bragging. I thought some of you who would want an HD remake would be interested since Morrowind can run well on a lot of machines (even my crappy laptop) that you would have been interested in seeing if you could run it with the HD mods since an actual HD re-release like SOTC or MGS is probably never going to happen.

Since we are on the PC topic and there isn't s**t going on in Skyrim to discuss, what do you PC ppl know about this:

http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-x51/pd.aspx

It's small, which is nice. Has HDMI ports. What kind of power is that thing running with?

The power supply is rather weak. The RAM and HDD it comes with aren't listed, it just says it supports "up to" which does you no good. I think the video card options are pretty old, too. The wireless I find to be kind of pointless with a desktop unless you absolutely need it.

I would welcome you sharing some mods bc I have it on the PC and havent used any and not really aware whats out there for it. I think I will keep my first playthrough "clean" but might mess with that stuff upon a second playthrough

at $700 thats way too expensive for what you are getting. You can get a much better set up for that price

Weak sauce.

A few mods I would definitely recommend that will still keep the game feel "clean" but make playing more convenient are:

Categorized Favorite Menus

QD Inventory (there's also SkyUI which requires the script extender. I prefer QD's interface and it's easier to install)
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=667

Maps with Roads
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4929

No More Blocky Faces

I would recommend downloading but not installing the Tytanis Ultimate Mod until you're ready to use it. Earlier versions were good but it's becoming too big, IMO. So I'd get the current version now before more is added.

Most mods will allow you to install with the Nexus Mod Manager which makes installing/uninstalling very easy. However some mods can't be installed this way so you'll have to read the instructions.

Thanks! Will have to look into that. The categorized favorite menus looks appealing. Do you know if thats compatible with a gamepad?

What about in terms of size? I absolutely do not want anything bigger than that. I mean even thats pushing it a bit.

If size is that important to you then I guess thats about the smallest you are going to get. I wouldnt expect for it to last you long though as you probably wouldnt be play most of the newer releases at high settings.

Lame.

Yeah, you definitely don't see people showing off their modded 360's, PS3's, or Wii's.

Those people sharing those builds aren't just doing it to show off, it helps people get ideas for their own builds.

I just think modded consoles aren't as prevalent in video gaming as modded PCs and PC games.

And you also said this is why the PC was better than the consoles, an argument that I don't really care for at all, which is why people dismissed it, even though I knew you were kidding (and I joked back that no one cares, so lighten up. :yay:)

I prefer playing on a console than a PC, I admit, but I have no problem with PC, and I don't think the PC is the only way to go with video games. I don't like using my PC for gaming. It can handle Skyrim, but I don't wanna burn out my PC.

Personally, I have no problem with people displaying mods in here. I got annoyed with Spock doing it because he didn't like the game at all and I felt like all he trying to do was imply that PC gamers can make better games than the company. Bethesda tried hard on this game, and Spock just kept dismissing their efforts. That got annoying.

I have no problems with displaying mods, but Spock just kept going overboard with it.

I'm not sure since I always use a keyboard and mouse. I can't check myself since my desktop is at home. If you have a 1920x1080 monitor, you will have to tweak it a bit so it fits on the screen right which is in the mod's FAQ.

Roads? Where we're going we won't need roads.

But in all serious, those are some good mods.

PC assclowns vs console assclowns? I must be in the wrong thread, I thought this was about Skyrim.

Perhaps if actually read the page, you'd find out that you were in the right thread.

Yeah, I know you guys are talking about Skyrim on PC. But I came here for people actually talking about in-game stuff.

The game has been out for coming up on 3 months. Yeah it's a big game but at some point there just isn't much new to talk about.

Yeah, we've all done the big side quests. We're just waiting for DLC.

Still haven't beat the main quest.:p too much stuff to do on the side

Id love if if there was an app that would allow you to upload your save and then have that display all your progress/stats as well as have info about all your current open quests. That'd be pretty cool

That would be pretty ****ing cool. Something similar to what Rockstar games had online for Red Dead Redemption to track the 100% completion process.

I was thinking close to what Criterion had with Burnout Paradise but the RDR example works as well.

The lore is so huge that I really wish there were encyclopedia style entries to keep track of everyone, locations and how they are connected kinda like how the Assassins Creed games do. I find myself forgetting stuff alot bc theres so much and that would be a welcomed feature
