Elder Scrolls V - Part 4

i always thought co-op would be so cool for morrowind but then i came to a realization. my friend that i play with makes a character who goes around and murders every person in the game he finds, i play as a good character. if we played together he would kill all the people i want to get quests from.

how could you get around this? i mean when i play i often kill someone by accident and then reload, you can't really do that in co-op

I feel your pain. My friend, who shall remain nameless, likes to do everything possible to torment NPC's or the people he's playing with. I just know he'd disappear, break into my house, mess it up, steal my things, kill my wife, you name it.

Still, it would be fun to pit out characters against one another.

On a slightly off-topic note, I was disappointed to find there's no Arena/Colosseum style combat place in Skyrim. Or if there is, I haven't seen or heard of it. In Oblivion, FO3 and even New Vegas they included an arena fight type place so I was looking forward to it, especially because it would have suited my glory seeking barbarian 'main' character very well indeed.

It'll probably be in DLC like it was for Fallout 3 hahah. But I don't think I ever saw an arena in New Vegas.

Not every game has to be. Bethesda makes huge and immersive games. The whole point of them is to get sucked into a world in which anything is possible. Not every game needs to be that way. If I'm looking for pure fun, I will take Uncharted over Skyrim any day of the week. Not all games need to be huge and packed to the rims with content. Sometimes just having a really good, small game is better.

How did you get any of that from what I posted? I never said every game has to be on Bethesda's level.

I tend to skim through things so I thought arguments were being made for why MP in Skyrim wouldn't damage the SP. When I re-read everything I realized you all somehow got onto the generalization of how a single player experience can co-exist with multiplayer. I made that post because sure, those largely linear games are good and have multiplayer. But compared to Skyrim, designing their multiplayer wouldn't be nearly as nightmareish as having to deal with implementing two players in the world.

Ah, I see. I agree with that. It is why I think that Zenimax will ultimately make an Elder Scrolls MMORPG. My guess is that it will be set in either High Rock or Cyrodill. One of the less complicated areas that the groundwork has already been laid out for, that Bethesda has already devoted a single player game to.

True! I forgot Fallout 3's arena battle was part of The Pitt. I sure hope one of the Skyrim DLC's includes it.

New Vegas actually had two; one under the west side of the city called 'The Thorn' where you could make bets or fight animals and the other was in Caeser's camp where you could fight slaves.

So far the best one, in my mind, was the Colosseum style arena in Oblivion. Waiting for the gate to drop and hearing the announcer's booming voice, the crowd cheering, it was very atmospheric. Something like that in Skyrim would suit me down to the ground.

That makes sense. If it ever happens I'll probably wait until it's free to play though hahah.

lol I remember exploiting the arena in Oblivion... I'd jump out of reach and shoot arrows at whoever I was fighting until they died. :o

I forgot about the New Vegas Caesar arena but I can't believe I've never seen the other one... wow.

Thats so cool.

Makes me want a game that is devoted to that kind of epic warfare and i dont mean any of that RTS nonsense.

That video was great! Very clever, good use for the first person perspective too.

I'd like a big sprawling battle game too, something that could give you the feel of Braveheart style scenes. Spartan: Total Warrior from Sega did a pretty good job, but I imagine with today's tech we could have something even more impressive. The trick would be making it require more skill and thought than running into the middle and smashing buttons.

What's nonsensical about strategy games?

I realize this is off topic and completely not what you asked in response to a question that wasn't even directed at me, BUT: I really loved Age of Empire 2: The Age of Kings. I would still play that now if I had a copy handy, I love that game. Everything from farming to warring provided limitless fun.

Nothing, but i dont really care for them. I made that comment to stop people from posting a link to some RTS game, saying "look, this game features giant battles". I should of used a term other than nonsense.

Age of Mythology was the best "Age of" gam, IMO.

Has someone posted this yet?

Bethesda Shows Skyrim DLC ideas at DICE 2012

The ideas shown included:

Spears
Kill cams for magic
Water arrows
Giant mud crabs
Paralysis runes
Seasonal foliage
Speedy water currents
Dark dungeons
Adoption of children
Advanced home building
Epic new mounts
Fast travel portals
Kinect dragon shouts
Enhanced water visuals
Ice and fire arrows
Lycanthrope perk tree
Vampire imp minions
Goblins

Yes to all. I especially like that they aren't opposed to adding more perk trees. :yay:

Kinect dragon shouts!? Finally I can turn my Kinect on!
Between this and Mass Effect you could be yelling at your TV for months!

Fire arrows! Fantastic.

Something for everyone, thanks Pat!

Haha!

Who run Whiterun? Who. Run. Whiterun?

I wish you could at least fire a bow on horseback. I hate when you get attacked by wolves and either have to get down and fight them or outrun them.

That would be fantastic! I loved doing in Shadow of the Colossus.

Okay..something weird just happened . I was walking around in Whiterun, minding my own bussines...and who did i just saw, strolling near the horse stables?

None other than the lovely miss Delphine! i talked to her a bit, she have abit of convo with the other NPC's that's walking around the area, then started to walk back towards her own town.

I know that the named NPC's on Oblivion visits other NPC's on different town on a certain time and date, but i don't think i've ever seen this on Skyrim. And this is not the first time either, i think i once saw some gal from Solitude walking around near Rorikstead...
