Elder Scrolls V - Part 6

Man, I started playing Skyrim again to check out the Hearthfire thing, then had to find my way out of a dungeon I'd left my dude in for the Dawnstar stuff, then got sidetracked by a comment about some face sculptor in Riften, then bumbled around from one town to the next for a while wondering how to get the Hearthfire stuff to come up before the courier finally found me, then I looked at the time and realized I was gonna be late for work if I didn't stop right away. I both love and hate Skyrim for its ability to suck me in so easily. :csad:

Haha. The other day my sister wanted me to watch a movie, which i said i would, but just to give me 30 minutes as i was going to play Skyrim. Yea it is, literally, impossible to play Skyrim for 30 minutes. I eventually sat down to watch that movie, 2 and a half hours later.

Any tips on making the courier appear? I think I've missed him if he already did as the Dawnguard stuff was happening at the same time and I was also in the middle of finishing off the now unglitched Companions quests.

I went into Riften and hung around for a while because I was looking for the face sculptor. He caught me right outside the entrance to the Thieves Guild. So it seems like you just have to go to a major town and wait around a while. Although I remember there were lots of problems with people not getting couriers for other quests, so it's possible the Hearthfire courier's bugged as well. I personally never got the courier with my inheritance after my wife died, so I've never been able to re-marry. :csad:

I have restarted my game on the PS3 version of Skyrim because I was getting a bit bored. That and I wanted too get Lydia and my husband Vorstag back because I accidentally saved when they had been killed. Well a few weeks ago there was an update and I thought nothing of it. But today I was farting around on horseback and discovered that the update allows you to attack while on horseback, just like the skill that was added in Dawnguard. I really love that addition as I don't have to get off my horse to attack people. I am currently trying to figure out if the face sculptor was added to the game as I would like to change the eyes on my character. I most certainly will report back if I find him.

I don't think I ever used a single horse in Skyrim. But, I didn't do the Dark Brotherhood quest, so I never got Shadowmere.

TBH though I always enjoyed walking to most places rather than breezing through on horseback. I never found it boring at all.

I think the face sculptor comes with Hearthfire. I installed Dawnstar and played for a while but I didn't get the news about a face sculptor until I spoke to an innkeeper after I'd installed Hearthfire.

I don't know...I just do not like the Dark Brotherhood at all. I always help the Imperials destroy them so I never get a chance to get Shadowmere. Ethically, I know this sounds crazy because it's just a game, but I just do not like what they stand for in the game.

Oh jeez, you are talking to the person that would spend hours at Lon Lon Ranch in Ocarina just doing that dern Horse Jumping obstacle course of Malon's. My other hobby was galloping around in Hyrule field on Epona just not doing anything at all. So yeah, I really love the horses in Skyrim....a lot. :woot:

Ah, I see. It seems while PS3 owners won't be getting the DLC, we will be getting some of the new features in updates, like the horseback combat. Hopefully they will add the Face Sculptor because I just do not like the eyes I gave my character with my new game I restarted.

i think the face sculptor is only in the Dawnguard DLC, from what I've been reading... but i could be wrong...

That's what I read so I've hung around in all the towns now for a few weeks. Damn, at the moment I can't progress on Dawnguard or Hearthfire.

I love walking from location to location. One of the best parts of the game. As for Shadowmere, good point where the hell is he?! I must have left him somewhere & no way I'm going to remember now 6 months later. Guess he can join the missing..'persons' list along with wife & companion. :csad:

I believe the face sculptor at Riften comes with Dawnguard as one of the Dawnguard achievements on the 360 version is for changing your face.

The face sculptor deff comes before Hearthfire. I changed my dude a little bit and i deff didn't have Hearthfire installed. Maybe its Dawnguard?

EVERY time iv used a horse, it gets killed not but 3 minutes after i purchased it. I walk from here on out.

The face sculptor was added by Dawnguard.

I thought you said you're getting a PC...

now, on that face sculptor... could i give a high-elf blue eyes?

I thought you said you're getting a PC...

I already have the PC version. You might be a bit mistaken by my earlier posts. My issue is that my laptop cannot play the game. Here's the error message I get when I try to boot the game up:

SkyrimErrorMessage.jpg

*edit* Basically from what I'm reading is that my factory standard graphics card can't handle the shading the game requires and I am not completely certain I can switch out the decent card from my old Alienware into my Dell Inspiron I'm using now because it is a factory issued laptop I got at Wal-Mart, not a custom.

It's more or less just a case of buying a gaming laptop around March when I get my taxes back.

Concerning the horses, I don't know if I've posted this but I think they need to create a way to boost their defense, maybe as an earned skill like Smithing, etc. etc. Also it would be a nice idea to be able to make armor for your horse as added defense from attacks.

I certainly hope that with Elder Scrolls online they tweak the horses to make them less useless than they are in Skyrim. I'd think it would be awesome to have a group of online companions forming a cavalry of some sort. Also what would be neat are horse integral quests, like competitions against other users or the AI for cash. That way horsemanship could become a skill your character can build up.

Well, there are a few reasons why you can't find your horse/spouse/companion/etc. They could have accidentally been killed, that's the worst case scenario. The other thing is that they will go back to their point of origin as a failsafe. This is what happened on my deleted file with my husband Vorstag. He went back to the Inn in Markarth where you meet him. So you might want to go back to the pool where you found Shadowmere to begin with. Also you can check all the various stables to see if he's there. I know when I had Frost if I parked it somewhere it would stay there, which was more likely than not at thye Whiterun stable.

Selling PS3 is a No Go. I have too many good games on it plus Ad Hoc Party for my PSP. I never sell anything I buy anyway unless it no longer works. I still have all my games from pevious gaming consoles like the N64. I do not like parting with my electronics at all.

As far as a good gaming laptop I'm waiting for March when I get my taxes back to make a purchase so I have plenty of time to find a good laptop.

Anyways...my game has just gotten really really weird...I have just encountered the Dark Brotherhood's Jester, Cicero...and at night. Now I'm all creeped out...

Is there any way to make him a companion without joining the Dark Brotherhood?

Did you not use this site before you got the game? I thought most PC gamers would know about this by now. Its been around for years

That site is terrible, it says yes or no based on limited information of the graphics card which means that you probably won't be able to run what it says you can. I have a low-end card for HD viewing and it says I can run a lot of demanding games because I exceed the requirements lol.

Use this instead:

I think its great and its always been helpful to me. It breaks it down what you need and what may be an issue

I just went to that site you posted and it gives you like no details. It seems too simple and basic

Well, you see I'm not very well versed in computer stuff but it's alright. Like i said I'll just buy a gaming laptop when I get my taxes back. In reality I'm not really bent out of shape that my laptop can't play the game. I still do have the PS3 version after all. Plus I do have Monster Hunter as well. Seriously, it's just a game, I have to tell myself that when a Giant keeps killing me, preventing me from completing a darn quest. :cmad:

Anyways...I was thinking of joining the Dark Brotherhood but only to get the option of making Cicero a companion.

P.S. Wow...those guards really do have a weak spot in the knees...

The processor, memory and graphics are all that's really important. Do you really need a site to tell you that you have a DVD drive? :D

As for why system requirements is shoddy: I have two graphics cards, a HD6450 and a HD6870. System requirements say I can play Fallout3 with both cards beyond the recommended settings, even though the 6450 is not a gaming card and can barely handle Fallout3 on low settings.

I was just offering a more accurate alternative coz even though there's more information given on system requirements, half of it doesn't matter and it doesn't analyze the half that does matter properly. There's an even better site that I use (Game-Debate) where you can sign up and enter your computer specs manually, but it's not really the same thing as what yougamer/systemrequirements are.

Elder Scrolls related...I've been watching some Adoring Fan videos and I am contemplating getting Oblivion for the PS3.

It's great. The quests are way better too, especially for the Dark Brotherhood.

If you're getting a gaming laptop that can run Skyrim though I recommend just getting it on PC too.
