Elder Scrolls V - Part 7

Did anyone actually prefer Dawnguard to Dragonborn? Apart from the ending of Dragonborn which was great, I'm pretty sure I enjoyed Dawnguard more despite what I'd heard going in.

I preferred Dragonborn over all. The story line in Dawnguard was probably more fun to play, although as a player who doesn't fast travel I did find the constant trips from one side of the map to the other pretty tedious. Dragonborn added a whole new, large area to explore and a slew of new and interesting characters, creatures and enemies. Plus there are some really neat visuals during the main quest. Once Dawnguard is done that kind of feels like that's all there is to it, but after finishing Dragonborn's quest there's still tons to do.

Dragon riding still sucks though.

Having it be a reduced rate is the way to go but only first week? I wonder how many people are willing to jump on it not knowing how it will perform. If I had the PS3 version, Id probably wait like a month and see if its just as broken as the base game was. The skeptic in me kinda thinks they are only discounted it the first week to maximize sales in case performance still isnt up to par and dont want word of it to spread out and discourage others from getting it. Good on Bethesda though if they got everything to work out okay

I don't have the money for them at all right now, so the one week sale really doesn't help me. But hopefully this means they will release a collection pack once all the DLC comes out. That, I will get.

Don't be such a pessimist , man...:oldrazz:

Be glad that comes next month, the PS3 players, will be able to either join up or destroy a vampire clan, gained a kickass companion, a cool new weapon, be able to build and customize their own homes, adopt a couple of rugrats before heading off to Soltsheim to check out this new guy calling himself a Dragonborn!

Congrats PS3 players!

I have to admit, my immediate second thought after "Wow, how awesome for PS3 players!" was pretty much exactly the same as Havok's. "But will it work?" I don't know if I'd go so far as to accuse Bethesda of some form of trickery with the first week sale business, but if I were a PS3 player I'd definitely hold off a week or two to see what the word from others is. Given the games track record on the PS3 I think waiting a week or two before committing to the download is pretty sensible.

Beth have ALOT to lose with this PS3 release. My guess is-and it may sound cliche- but i believe that it will at the very least will be somewhat stable release. Remember that it was not only Beth that was working on this. Sony was heavily involved too. You'd have to believe that it's gotta be a better version than what they started with.

Will there be bugs? of course...glitches? absolutely. These things were present even in other more 'stable' platforms for Beth games.

I guess it just comes down to personal view on things. If i were a PS3 player, and i have been angry because i was not able to get this DLC's...i'll take this deal.

Yeah, I plan to jump on the deal. Even if they are buggy at launch, that will get patched. 50% off is a one time deal. It's either pay, what? $20 for all 3 (it's 2 $15, and a $10 right?), or wait a few weeks for a patch and pay $40. I'd rather lock in half price, and wait for a patch if buggy at first. Either way, good news for PS3 owners.

The ps3 will get the latest patch ..which is patch 1.8 if i'm not mistaken...along with Dragonborn.

I forgot waht that latest patch actually included. In either case...like you say..good news for PS3 players.

Just out of curiosity, did they ever announce what day in February the DLC is coming to PS3? I'd like to make sure to have the cash in my PSN wallet the week before, just in case.

From Wikipedia:

The PlayStation 3 and PC versions are currently scheduled for a release on February 5, 2013

:woot:

Ok, thanks. I knew the PC version was the 5th, but the PS3 version was still listed as TBA on most sites. Just that it would come sometime in February. I guess the safe bet would be to put the money in this Friday. After looking them up, that's 2 $20's and a $5 at 50% off, so $22.50 instead of the normal $45. Not bad. Definitely worth jumping on the deal during that week.

It's kinda sad too...this means that they're now winding down on all things Skyrim.

Next focus will be the Elder Scroll online and eventually FO4. I'm betting Dragonborn will be the last DLC or maybe one more DLC, but that will be it.

It's good that they've managed to release it finally and a price reduction on all is fair. But I think if I was playing on PS3 (& having experienced all the DLC on 360) I would rather they'd worked on making sure the base game worked perfectly (if that was possible) as the DLC is no better than the regular game.

As much as I want to play Fallout 4, part of me kind of wishes Bethesda would try their hand at a new franchise. Ideally a space themed one, but something other than Elder Scrolls or Fallout in the same open world RPG style would be neat. Of course I won't complain if they move on to Fallout 4, and having a third major RPG franchise would be mean more time between Elder Scrolls and Fallout games, but it'd be neat to see.

I'll be pretty surprised if we don't get at least one more DLC for Skyrim.

Elder Scolls Online is being handled by Zenimax, not Bethesda. And I'm sure they've already started working on FO4. They have their teams working on different projects just like any studio.

I just bought a pretty good pc (for games only)! Finally I will find out what all this mod crap is lol.

I'd be ok with it if Bethesda let Obsidian (at the very least) write Fallout 4. Develop it? Maybe not...but the over all story of New Vegas was much better than 4... Even if the actual game and setting itself wasn't.

I'd be happy with a 3rd major franchise. I like my Beth games a bit spaced out, because it takes forever to experience everything the game has to offer. Beth has gotten quicker with the release, so I'm sure they can squeeze a new IP in. I just don't want it to delay the next Elder scroll for too long. It was far too long a gap inbetween Oblivion, and Skyrim. However the FO3-New Vegas-Skyrim releases were fairly close. Maybe a Elder scroll - Fallout - New IP cycle with each release being 1 a year, supported by DLC and expansions. That way we're getting a new title in each series atleast once every 3 years.

Not sure how I'd feel about a space them though. Even if it's post-apocalyptic, Fallout covers the spacey sci-fi vibe pretty well with laser guns, 50's robots, and aliens. I'd want a different gameplay style. Elder scrolls is swords, and bows. Fallout is guns, lasers, and blunt objects. So something not following those two formula's.

I would love for Bethesda to come up with a new IP.
