Clips of her acting are online, and short story is she seems very capable for this role. So I'll skip that and get to the pics, which are a little harder to find:

Well fellow Spidey fans, we've finally got a candidate that looks like MJ. I very much doubt we're going to get much hotter and sensual than this. How does it feel? From this end, I'm liking the view!

I won't disagree, she is hot,

but

I don't want this girl to be the next Megan Foxx , all looks, and no acting skill
Ultimate M.J. has spunk, pulling off a decent Ultimate M.J. is harder than you think

Most of us can agree we don't want another Transformers situation, but the clips (however short they are) prove she isn't just some looker. She played two completely opposite roles, one a conceited b***h, the other a foreign and meek singer, and performed both very well.

I'm assuming she's auditioned, if Webb chooses her, I'd be 100% behind this. Especially after he brilliantly cast Garfield.

I wouldn't say she is like Megan Foxx at all and does seem to have acting skill, as evidenced by these two different roles here in Cold Case and Melrose Place:

Yeah, I'd like to see a bit of meat to her role, well, if she's the main love interest.

We have a winner! Wow this Spider-Man reboot is really shaping up. I'm pleasantly surprised. :yay:

Wow...they're ACTUALLY thinking of casting a very hot actress for MJ!

This reboot just gets better and better...

She is hot and all. But, I think MJ as the love interest again is lame. Yes, hotter than Dunst, and Dunst wasn't great, but I would have preferred Gwen. She is a better character than MJ. Plus, it would have made this reboot different. So, we leave a series of a college aged Peter pining for MJ and reboot it with...a college aged Peter pining for MJ.

That's change we can believe in.

While I too would want Gwen in the picture first, having MJ back is not at all indicative of the direction the reboot is taking. That's like saying B89 and TDK are the same movie because Joker is a newcomer who's taken over the mob dealings and is threatening Batman in public. There will be very vague similarities in concept, but execution couldn't have been more different.

Oh, the girl who workshopped as MJ in the Spidey musical after Evan Rachel Wood left! I heard she was good. And she clearly likes the character. I'll have to watch some clips, but this may actually be a good option.

The only Gwen that works for me is Ultimate Gwen, Classic Gwen is so bland

Difference being Batman Begins and B89 had vastly different start points. BB was Batman being created and B89 was more his coming out party. I doubt the origin is going to be rehashed, so the start points seems to pretty much not be different from where SM3 left off. So why even bother with the reboot at all? Just put Gwen in the movie, don't reference the prior films, and move on. Why the reboot if you're not really changing much? This is stupid.

I'm not saying the film will be bad. I'm just wishing I see how this will be different enough to where it needs its own continuity. Right now, I'm not seeing it.

Yeah, I think Gwen Stacy will probably be in it, too, and should probably be the main love interest. Actually, I only saw a few episodes of The Spectacular Spidey cartoon, but I liked the way they handled MJ's introduction - having her like Peter when they meet on their blind date, but not really having a romantic interest in him.

So for the first one, Gwen could be the girl-next-door old friend that loves Peter, with MJ just being that new friendly girl who's way out of his league (she wouldn't even need to be introduced 'till the 2nd half). And then Gwen dies in the 2nd one, MJ starts developing stronger feelings for him, etc. Or something like that.

You prefer the trampy stereotype version of the character that lacked any original writing or distinguishing characteristics past being whiny?

Different strokes for different folks, but I don't see the appeal of that version of Gwen. She was totally useless to the series. Even her death was useless. Gwen of the 616 world was a much stronger character, and I could actually see why she was appealing to Peter.

This a stage term? I never really understood what that meant. Also, I thought the musical was canned or put on indefinite hold?

Of course you're not seeing it, we haven't seen anything of the movie. The recasts alone will set it apart from the previous series. I know Garfield will turn out a much different performance from Tobey. Whomever the next MJ is, I'm sure she'll be a lot better than what Dunst gave us. There's so many factors that go into a production, I would be highly surprised if this felt anything like Raimi's take.

Be patient. There's absolutely no reason to get so worked up over nothing at this point.

Yeah, I'm no stage expert, but I do know that before a show is put on stage, it generally goes through several "workshops" where they try to see somewhat how it will play out for an audience, what's working, what's not, and and they may or may not feature the actors who will be in the final stage version. Often times at the workshops, they'll still be reading from the scripts. It's very much a work-in-progress thing.

And to answer your other question, the musical's definitely having a rocky road to the stage, but last I heard, it's still expected to open at the end of this year:

Elena Satine looks great, but I hope that if she gets the role, she has the classic Mary Jane bangs and not her own hairstyle. Even Dunst didn't have the classic bangs, and that made her look even less like MJ.

I'm not talking about seperating it from the series with just actors, though. Roger Moore seperates his Bond films from Connery's and they don't feel like the same movies at all, but they still exist in the same continuity. I mean having an entire new continuity. If they're going to do that, I need to see something different about it. So far, we have nothing that is very different in the dynamic of the series.

The fact MJ is the 2nd character we're hearing about tells me she is probably the #2 most important character. Meaning she is likely the main love interest again. Otherwise, they probably would have waited to cast her. I am disappointed by that, and feel like the filmmakers could be passing up on an opportunity to use a superior character.
