Spider-Man 3 was Raimi & Co.'s chance to showcase Banks' Betty Brant and use her as the "other girl" for Peter - instead they opted to throw Gwen Stacey in that role.

Honestly, I don't blame Banks for not wanting to come back if it's "more of the same!"

Besides...she'd be a great Lois Lane for the Superman reboot. Plus, she and Brandon Routh actually have good chemistry.

I agree let Betty be taken hostage or something or JJJ because then at least it might show a side between Spidey and JJJ.

As far as Elizabeth goes. I hope she comes back. I like her as Betty. She is a betty.

She in the last few years has become a bigger star then doing a 1-2 minute role in Spider-Man films.

Now if they do an attack on the Bugle moment, i think that would be good to see on film, but really not the biggest surprise statement to hear.

I've got to agree there. Hell, the scene with her and Peter flirting hints at that, in a way.

Exactly why she's opting out.

Why go back to a nothing role for a substantially smaller salary when she could be appearing in Apatow/Rogen comedies and occasional dramas with the likes of Oliver Stone where she gets more screentime, more material to work with, higher salary and a project that actually advances her career?

I know there are certain menial, part time jobs that I would have taken while fresh out of HS that I would definitely not go back to now.

I don't blame her.

I've never been bothered by Betty's screentime in any of the Spidey films. However, I do think she will have a bigger role in S-M4 or S-M5, but that's jsut me.
