Someone needs to create a viable alternative. Mastodon isn’t quite there yet (I don’t like the limited server approach) - or someone needs to invest in Mastodon. As soon as something that gives people what they get from Twitter, a ton of people (and advertisers) will permanently move.

Mastodon needs more centralization and ease of use to get more people to use it. I complained about its weak search abilities in the past but it puts it ahead of Twitter now since Twitter doesn't even let you search at all without an account as of a couple of days ago.

It seems the eternally erratic Musk is forcing the Twitter blue subscription checkmark on all past legacy accounts now, perhaps to stall the 'block the blue' movement and blocking scripts after the failure for Twitter to gain paid subscribers over the past couple of days.
