Elon Musk Buys X (formerly Twitter): Just Use Bluesky, Threads, or Mastodon Instead

Threads got released today. It’s basically twitter

Mark Zuckerberg (Threads.net): "Just passed 5 million sign ups in the first four hours..."

I'm sure he's enjoying these numbers more than the total Metaverse flop.

In the end we are doomed either way.
The 3 platforms, all run by rich idiots.

Musk with twitter, Blue Sky by a guy who thinks NFT is the future, Threads by Zuckerberg.

Its good old choosing between pest and cholera pretty much.
Considering Jack Dorsey endorses how Musk runs twitter and Musk running twitter as he does...i feel like giving Threads a chance on that.
Also zuckerberg wanted to fight Musk, so he kind of got a few good points on that from me.

Still waiting on Mozilla's Twitter clone.

Didnt they throw their hat in with Mastodon?

Im still baffled that we dont have a good alternative yet.
Like just do what Twitter does, less ****ty and not be as welcoming to right wing nutjobs.
Boom, done deal.
Doesnt strike me as too hard to make.

It's using a Mastodon server that they manage. So yes it is. But there's a waitlist to join it.

Having an invite system straight out of 2007 for BlueSky and other web services is killing their momentum from escalating. If their servers can’t scale to half Meta’s level they are floundering.
Bluesky may have Dorsey's money but he's also a cryptobro, Mozilla is still using Mastodon which is too complex for the average user, and Threads is a privacy nightmare. All the while Musk breaks the actual Twitter.

Yep, unfortunately the case. I’d hope for the best of a very bad bunch of owners with Threads. Also Elon is the loudest of the lot and I want to see him lose relevance wherever possible.

Melon’s addled brain can’t cope. He treats his own employees like crap even if they lick his boots. Meta didn’t force Melon to remove 90% of Twitter’s original workforce and not pay them.

Twitter Threatens to Sue Threads
Twitter is threatening legal action against Meta over its new text-based “Twitter killer” platform, accusing the social media giant of poaching former employees to create a “copycat” application, Semafor reports.

lol

Not that Twitter can really pay for its current legal issues.

I think the trio of Facebook-Instagram-Threads is a great thought.

I use Facebook to keep up with my friends and its connected to Messenger.

Instagram is my *own space*, and this is where I really keep up with my interest. And its a bit combo of facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Tiktok, and its always been the best social media app for almost a decade now, imo.

Threads, I like its simplicity even though its a Twitter clone. It needs messaging, bookmarks and section where you can see your likes. Though they need to keep the photo features to IG. So IG would still have more of its identity.

Fun fact: Mastodon's version of a tweet was called a toot.

The pull is there, it doesnt take much to get people away from Twitter.
Being a broken app run by an idiot and the possibility of new growth with a new app, is interesting to many...if the alternative is decent enough, twitter dies easily.

Im thinking about trying it out, but i heard that it somehow if you want or not, connects your account with a existing Instagram or Facebook account or so...i dont know exactly.
I like to have my accounts be not connected to each other for Doxxing issues etc.

For the moment i wait and see if this is just a short hype or if the Platform really is the future.

It’s amazing how Zuckerberg was rightfully hated for destroying our privacy with Facebook and Musk was a “real life Tony Stark”. Then Musk showed his true colors and people have no problem going back to Zuck.

It’s like how much W was hated and now thanks to Trump, he’s just a kind old man who likes to paint.

I have not and will not use Threads, Zuckerberg is still scum and W is only better than Trump in he did not try to incite an insurrection or lie quite as much on a daily basis. None of these 4 men is anything but vile.

Bloomberg News - Musk’s X Corp Sues Law Firm Over Fees in Twitter Takeover Fight
Elon Musk sued the law firm that led the court fight to make him complete his takeover of Twitter, saying it took advantage of the company while running up a $90 million bill.

Lawyers, you thought Melon would pay you everything he owes!? Guess again!

Bloomberg News - Meta’s Threads Has 70 Million Signups, Surprising Zuckerberg
Meta Platforms Inc.’s new social media app Threads has garnered 70 million users in just two days after its launch, a sign of enthusiasm that Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg said was “way beyond our expectations.”
