Enough With Modern Horror Crap...Let's Compare Old-School Classics!

Anyone (who has Starz, anyway) watch "Going To Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher Film" this past weekend? It was fun to see the evolution of the genre and hearing all the stories about how all these films got made. There really were a glut of these films in the late 70s and into the 80's to the point where it seemed like one was coming out literally every weekend. The interview portions with Tom Savini were great.

Also the segment on Sleepaway Camp. The sad thing is, the actress grew up to be quite the hottie, but all I can think about is that her character
turned out to be a transexual!!!

There was a big day-long contest on Saturday that my friend won tickets to, and believe me, there was more pot in the air than oxygen!!!

There was an old couple sitting on the ground (b/c it was an outdoor ampitheater), and they were older/white trash DELUXE!!

The woman was WASTED and kept climbing on top of the man trying to give him a hickie, mind you they were both in their 40s...

She smoked about 2 packs of cigarrettes in 4 hours and had 6 or 7 tall boys, not to mention the drugs passed to them from the other "older" people hanging out in the area.

So eventually she got sick and was throwing up (and FILLING up) a Coors bucket...

All this to say the group of guys we were sitting with ALL had their respective phone cameras on recording various segments of this couple we dubbed "momma & daddy"!!!! Hilarious.

I like the Frank Langella version of Dracula and also the Klaus Kinski Nosferatu. One generally cannot go wrong with the horror films that star Christopher Lee, especially Lee as Dracula. The opening of the Bela Lugosi Dracula has great that great Swan Lake excerpts opening.

Then there's the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers - I know it's not that scary by today's standards but I have a soft spot for it.
