Enter the Dragon remake by Kurt Sutter

Actually Bruce Lee was American himself.
true...but how many established asian american actors are working in Hollywood right now that could take on this part? the only one i know of is Daniel Dae Kim...

Oh, I agree, absolutely. Even the original wisely kept it's obligatory American star as a supporting character (John Saxon).

While we're on the subject of Enter the Dragon, I've often found it completely lacking in real excitement. The film never presents a credible threat to Bruce Lee. There is never any threat to the hero. Even the main bad guy at the climax only manages to scratch him a few times with a metal claw.

It would be very interesting to see Daniel Dae Kim, in this kind of role. In Lost he can stage fight, he comes off more as a brawler than martial artist, but he is very convincing as a powerful fighter.

good point. there was never a REAL threat to Bruce. i chalk that up to early 70's standards of film making though...

i've never paid much attention to Daniel Dae Kim but if he's a good actor then i wouldn't mind seeing him take the role. he's not my ideal pick but he's the only established asian american i can think of that might be able to handle a role like this...

For the actor to take bruce's part would be hard. There is no one as prominent as bruce these days of asian background.

I guess the best they can do is to get some of those actors from hong kong etc ... that grew up in the states or something like that.

I don't like this idea.
Enter The Dragon is one of my favorite films, and I think it should be left as is. I really liked the action, the cheesiness, the way the dialogue is, and the 70's feel.

:down

I think the thread should be changed to "Enter the dragon RE-INVENTION by Kurt Sutter"

I jate the idea of remaking it, however the concept of re-inventing it completely differently, is something that can work.

I heard Jack Black's been cast in the lead :)

Ohhh...

The only ENTER THE DRAGON "inspired" movie I will see in theatres is Balls of Fury.

Sounds neat. I always like the kind of remake that isn't a carbon coby of the first one, and people put their own spin on it. Like JCs the thing.

An American and a martial artist?

How about the son of the Original ninja from the 80's? Sho Kosugi. :cwink:

Do you remember the father?

Well, meet his son... Kane Kosugi. the guy's in this month's movie "WAR" with Jet Li and Jason Statham.:cwink: he not only practices ninjitsu but wushu too.

This is ******ed, Enter the Dragon was all about Bruce Lee. Without Bruce Lee it would have been just another crappy Kung-Fu flick.

I wonder if Brandon Lee was still alive would he consider the leading role.

I doubt it. He turned down the role of his father in Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story.

Would have been bizarre if he had; he would be one of the few actors to appear in a story where he himself appears as a character.

^ Jason Scott Lee was perfect in that film and looks more like Bruce Lee than Brandon ever did. I loved that film. JSL was just perfect.

Dragon is a better film than any of Bruce Lee's actual films.
