Episode 14 - "Distractions" - Discussion Thread 2/5/07

A character that should be debuting soon, probably this episode. There are online comics at the Heroes site that give details on her. She's like a walking wireless computer, she can intercept and send electronic transmissions telepathically. :)

For some I want to see Bennet get beat up. So is Sylar going to kill Claires mom if he finds them. Plus I starting to think that Sylar is going to be immune to the haitan.

^I can't figure how else he got around his power restraints when he attacked Eden. Unless the Haitian removed his restraints voluntarily, which I doubt.

Did the Haitian guy turn Zack straight or something?

He was supposed to come out in "Homecoming" but the actors reps squashed it.
Oh...cause people have been calling him gay but I don't think he acts gay at all. I think hes just the typical high school geek...It even seems that he has a crush on Claire....How exactly did the actor's rep squash it?

Just because he didn't 'act' gay in the show doesn't mean his character wasn't gay. You should think beyond the stereotype. Zack was called gay, and had that thing about being who you are with Claire in her bedroom. We were intended to think he was gay.

There was an interview over at IGN where the issue was discussed. His rep wasn't happy with the situation, and was worried he'd be typecast as a gay character. Idiot.

One a sidenote, just saw the promo for this episode and it looks pretty good. Finally Heroes is starting to heat back up. Peter seeing the future. Claire meeting her mother, and soon her father. Niki finally showing her true colours. Sylar being a bad guy again. Looks like we're set for a great episode.

When Claire had the stick in her head she could not regenerate. Perhaps that is why Sylar has that thing in his head, to prevent his powers even just a little. Obviously the powers seem to be brain related. My guess is that Sylar reluctantly begins working for H.R.G. much like Eden and the Haitan are/were in his service. I would suspect Sylar to turn on H.R.G. at some point.

I am getting suspicious of that tatoo some of them have. I think the paper factory is a front for a research group that is studying AND creating people with powers. Perhaps as weapons. Is Matt on the List? or did he get his powers unnatually, and thus the tattoo?

The thing that Matt and Ted have on their necks aren't really tattoos so much as scars, which you'll find out in the next ep when the Hana Gitleman character points out some kind of instrument that would leave marks like that.

did anyone see Mr Bennet's name?

On his license? It just says Bennet, and you can't read the signature.

That's wierd, it just says "Bennet. His license also says he lives on Juniper Lane in Odessa, Texas. And he is 6'-1" and has blue eyes. Almost everything else it too blurry. The signature looks like he signed it Bennet too.

I bet his first name is Ben.

It's hilarious. They were serious when they said his first name would never be revealed.

I feel like such a dork, now that I've hunted down a copy of his driver's license and it turns out to be true.

The last two shows nothing has really happened. The comic has been more exciting than the show. Yay. Matt shows his wife he can hear thoughts. Yay. Hiro and Ando spend an episode in a parking garage (what is this, seinfeld?). HRG mysteriously visits Mohinder and leaves. Claire makes some phone calls. A psychiatrist visits Nikki. whoopee. This show is dangerously becoming the X-files and treating HRG like the Smoking Man. Let's see some action and let's see something that moves the stories forward.

You mean like Claire finding her birth-mother?
Or Pete finding a friend/mentor in the Invisible dude?
Or Niki deciding that she does want to get out of the prison?
Or Sylar escaping Bennet's place?
Or Hiro being caught and taken by his father?

Anything like that? Cause all that happened in the latest episode.

Too many people apparently find pleasure in looking at a great and popular show, just trying to be the first person to find some "shark-jumping" moment.

Same thing's been happening with LOST. Things are happening every single episode. No they're not always going to be action-oriented, but that's why these are called "Dramas". The characters and their interactions with themselves and each other are much more important than any action. Is action crucial? Yes. But someone doesn't have to always be fighting or chasing or whatever for there to be something happening.

The show needs a slow moment to gather the story
Just because you want all action all the time doesnt mean everyone does
I and my friends quite enjoy the character development
If you want action go there are plenty of channels that show only that
Find the remote
Like I said before
If they skipped all of this you would be complaining about it that too

and you'd be wrong.

yes, claire finds her mother at the end of the show.
peter finds the invisible guy at the end of the previous show.
nikki decides she doesn't want to escape? who cares?
sylar escaping bennet's place? not yet he hasn't.
oohhh...hiro was caught....again at the end of the show.

there wasn't anything to gather, nor was there a need to gather. most of it was a waste of time. seemed to be just filler. i'm fine with character development, but there wasn't even that. so far coming back from the break, all they've done is go for a gotcha! moment at the very end of the show. the last two shows just haven't stacked up to the first 11, and bits of it have become contrived.

Heaven forbid a show has some actual character development. :o

OH and i greatly beg to differ, the episode before last one had more than enough to fill in one episode.
