Episode 16 - "Unexpected" - Discussion Thread 2/19/07

I was thinking. Matt, Ted, and Hana have been injected with an isotope. It acts as a tracking device if I heard correctly. Shouldn't it also disable them in case of situations similar to what's happening to Mr. Bennet and his family?

Radioactive isotopes dont' really do that, it's not mind control... just something you can pick up with a sattelite.

That said, this finally confirms that PETER'S VISION IS NOT LITERAL. I'm not going to go into my theory that he got his dream-power from Mr. Deveaux, but I will say that in the vision, Simone dies BECAUSE OF HIM, in real life, Simone died, honestly, because of Peter and Isaac's fight. Peter could have taken out Isaac easily, but decided to play with him and so Simone died. Vision came true.

The other things of the vision are equally not literal. Matt in NY in his LA Police Uniform (and he's on suspsension!!), Claire in her cheerleader outfit? (the whole team is defunct!). The whole vision was figurative, and in it, Simone died. Boom. Simone's dead. In the vision claude laughs indifferently, and so Claude doesn't care in real life anymore.

And you can count on the conflict between Nathan and Peter to be crucial to his explosion, but it's not going to be anything like what you saw in that vision. Nothing at all.

Peter on the dark side is long overdue... I think that scar will fit him nicely now.

The future is fluid. It has to be or Peter would have no hope of changing it. I think his vision will evolve, just like some of Issac's paintings have. :)

yeah, and let's not write off Simone just yet. Peter can bend time, after all.

She might not even be dead, only injured. :) Someone already died before she got shot.

Shes going to die by the looks of it and it was a good surprise. Instead of being predictable and killing off someone like Ando or Isaac, they hurt someone that is somewhat important. She might be why Peter explodes. I loved how HRG is getting what he deserves. Hes bitten off more than he can chew now its time for truth.

I just watched this episode and it was so good. The ending I was like holy ****

Awesome episode! It was pretty interesting how Peter's voice changed just like Sylar's did.

Yup, Peter is definetely hot as a baddie. I can almost forgive the hair. ALMOST.

I think Matt got sucked into Ted's plan a little too quickly. Nathan is being great as the unrelenting voice of reason. Let's face it, if the people with abilities revealed themselves that is EXACTLY what would happen. Haul them off to some island somewhere to perform experiments on them. In fact, i'm surprised if the Gov. knows about them why they aren't doing that already. Makes you wonder who HRG is really working for.
And i don't understand why Claire is so adamant about her father, since it was the haitian who did all the dammage to begin with. Her father didn't know. Seems to me the Haitian would know better how his powers work.

I'm REALLY looking forward to next week's episode. It should be excellent. Oh, and a week without Niki or Micah or DL. See? It IS possible. :)

There's no future that exists where Matt wears his LA cop uniform in NY while he's on suspension, among other impossibilities in his dream (not unliklihoods, IMPOSSIBILITIES). And the future is not fluid. Dreams are. The future is changeable, and Hiro plans to do that, but the future does not change randomly, there's a distinct cause and effect relationship. Except for with Isaac's paintings, which are not only literal but always happen just as depicted, despite apparent changes in cause. They do not 'evolve.'

I'm willing to bet it isn't even Peter that goes nuclear at this point, that red picture ISN'T of Peter or the person who nukes NYC and furthermore, I think theres away to blow up in NYC and everything still be okay.

yup, ted's getting pretty good with his powers, he could just siphon off the energy. Although it may kill him...

awesome episode, syler is the ultimate badguy! i wonder how many will die before mohinder realises he did a boo-boo

we actually didn't see her kick the bucket we just saw her shot .Remember peter started having those flying dreams when he was around her father and no explanation has been given on how or where pops got his money if he had an ability like say precognitive dreams or dream communication... plus that might mean daddy's little girl has a gift 2...

I definitely don't think HRG works for the government. When it comes to Claire and her anger at HRG, yes the Haitian did the damage, but who okayed it? Who gave the order? HRG did.

So did anyone else wonder if the "haul us off to some island in the middle of the ocean somewhere" line was a nod to "LOST"??

Perhaps it wasn't intentional, but that's what it made me think of right away, and I lol'ed.

That's not a guarantee at all.
wasn't offering one just a possibility
Yeah, but Hiro couldn't save Charlie even though he could also bend time. Once someone is gone, they're gone.
not true hiro discovered she had a brain tumor and was going to die anyway he did cause someone to be saved... the cheerleader and most recently Ando and himself...

HRG is trying to help, but he stepped over the line in trying to protect his family and his daughter. I think we will be very suprised next week when we see things unfold.

Clair's anger is understandable, especially since her mother may have been permanently injured as a result of HRG trying to "protect" his family.

HRG's biggest mistake was in trying to controll Sylar rather than trying to stop him outright.

If anything the accidental shooting of Simone was a reference to Lost, I mean it has only happened like three times in that show. But they'll probably bring her back. She was essential in what is the only love story line in the entire show, Its a superhero show, there has to be a love triangle.

Other than that, the episodes keep getting better and better. Sylar and Peter are both awesome, essentially the same character different spin. What most great villains and heroes should be.

Best part about the episode, no Niki/Jessica. Even though her last outing was kind of cool.

dale said something like, "funny, i didn't hear any footsteps."

and sylar said, "there weren't any."

what are all of his powers? can he fly? i don't remember anything along the lines of him being able to not make footstep sounds?

yep member the first time we saw him with mat he "flew" away (I think he did a teke jump)

I did too, and I thought it was cool.
