Episode 06: "Better Halves" discussion thread

Good episode. A bit slow paced...But still good. Really enjoyed D.L.'s first full appearance. He's a great character. Looking forward to next week's episode, with Hiro and D.L. meeting for the first time.

I don't think Nikki hates DL, but instead, she's "blind rage" that wants to protect Micah and herself. Evil-Nikki figured out about DL's deal, and when he backed out, she said"...F#$k that...I want the money to get outta this dump!" I think Nikki is going to get a better level of control and while she's not going to be Mr Fixit, she'll certianlly not go around trying to kill everbody.

Can someone PLEASE tell me what happend with Nikki and DL?
D.L. discovers that Nikki was the one that framed him (actually, it was her dark alter ego, but she doesn't get the chance to fully explain this); and D.L. tells Nikki that he's taking Micah and the money away with him. Nikki's alter ego kicks in and displays her above average strength against D.L. "Dark" Nikki discovers that D.L. has phasing abilities as he uses them during the fight; and "Dark" Nikki gets distracted by Micah while beating on D.L. By using one hand to grab her throat and the other hand (the one that phases through Nikki's chest) D.L. grabs Micah and the money and makes his escape; and Nikki is laying on the floor unconscious.

Thanks, Batman. When can I catch the ep? :woot:

I think they are still showing online at the site, after broadcast.

USA shows it the hour before the new one comes on NBC (I believe) as well

Niki's Other Self setting up her husband was obvious. As was Claire's father faking her parents.

They're trying to get Niki's Other Self to appear all badass with her ripping people apart, but when it comes down it, she doesn't feel threatening at all.

I can't believe this show has a 9.4 rating on TV.com, am I watching the same show as everyone else. Because it seems everyone else is getting a better version. Seriously, 9.4? That's better than Lost, Prison Break, The Shield, House, Rescue Me, Nip/Tuck, Entourage, etc. All these great shows getting over shadowed by something this mediocre.

And am I the only one sick and tired of pathetic attempt to get all clever and philosophical with Suresh's intros?

i know this has nothing to do with this episode, but what does the guy do to people when claire's father says,'clean em out.'?

Wipes their memories, aparantly.

Bennet's associate wipes out there memories. Examples are how when Matt was being held captive, he woke up at his house not knowing what had happend to him, or how he wound up there. Another is how Brody, had no idea who Claire was, or what she was talking about, after Bennet spoke to him, and his mystery friend appeared out of nowhere.

So Dl's mum knows he has powers, yah? Does she, and would bad nikki go through her to get her son back?

I don't think none of the Nikis are dead. DL phased thru her liver, and probably gave it a squeeze. It hurts like ***k, but it doesn't kill. Plus, the liver is the only part of the human body that rebuilds itself from scratch.

Now here's a weird idea. What if Bennet has a power and that power is being able to manifest his "associate?" And by that I mean, the "associate" isn't an actual person, but a manifestation from Bennet that he kind of conjures as needed, because the manifestation has mental abilities.

That would be crazy.

Oh great. Soon, everybody and their mother will have powers. And they'll have to change the comic book title to "Wonders to the 9th Power"

thought it was a good episode, slow paced but after the last few weeks it needed to be.

I thought we already debunked the "sean bean is sylar" theory. He wasn't in last nights ep when the unreliable IMDB said so

"Heroes"
- Nothing to Lose (2006) TV Episode .... Paul Sylar
-
Better Halves (2006) TV Episode .... Paul Sylar
-
Six Months Ago (????) TV Episode .... Paul Sylar

There were Sean Bean rumors about him playing Sylar? Wow, I never heard that. Oh that would be so badass if it were true. Maybe the Sylar character was edited out of this episode due to time? (Now I'll be coming up with excuses to hold on to hope that Sean Bean is in Heroes)

I find it funny how a lot of people just don't get what they're watching

He left them alone for six months because he was convicted of murder and he expected her to be civil?

This was the first episode that kind of left me underwhelmed. I'm just not that into Niki's storyline I guess. Claire's fake parents were pretty obvious too. More Hiro would have made this a better ep, but as it was -- meh.

Next week looks like a return to coolness, though.

I've read through all the posts (in this thread) to see if anyone else addressed this. Is it just a coincidence that both DL and Niki have powers??

God I hope not. I'm hoping that within the context of the show these type of powers are rare enough to make that statistically impossible.

If it is a coincidence, then it stinks of bad writing.

Niki seems to be slipping farther and farther into the "darkside" The evil half seems to be getting stronger and taking control more often....she may think that in order to protect both of them she will need to remain in control...for safety's sake of course ;)
