Episode 16 - "Unexpected" - Discussion Thread 2/19/07

Just got caught up with the last ep online. Good stuff.

I had a smile a mile wide when Simone got shot. I found her to be very annoying over the last handful of shows. When she was having the conversation with Nathan about going public, I was literally saying "someone please kill her", which I took as a sign that it wouldn't happen. Oh, blessed surprises.

Peter was pretty badass at the end, making use of the varied powers. :wow:
Although he better not figure out how to manipulate time to bring Simone back. :cmad:

Best episode yet. I was shocked at the ending and can't wait to see what it'll do between the Painter and Peter. (enemies? Friends against a common enemy?)

Also...the confrontation between Peter and Bennett was soooo freakin sweet.

True, the did say his powers are based around understanding how things work and suresh has stated that the powers stem from the heroes brains so this would make sense

Producers clearly says he doesn't "consume" anything. The current theory is that he dissects the brain to determine DNA sequencing anatomy, or physiology, and then alters his to match.

Why would eating a brain give you powers? That's just dumb.

Maybe he just eats them afterward for the fun of it. Sweetbreads anyone?:woot:

Yes, this is the correct method on how sylar obtains his powers. Which explains his corrputed DNA.

Peter's becoming a badass, man! I wanna know why Syler never seems to be fased by bullets. The dude's been shot a BILLION times! He was even shot when the African dude was around. I think the African's ability to hinder people's powers only works on people who use mind-related abilities.

I taped this episode, cause I was moving and finally got the chance to see it. It had to be the best episode this season. It was just moment after moment that we got action, drama and this show at it's best. I loved seeing Hiro go on his own now, and then meet Stan the Man. i wonder what will happen to Ando though? All in all, great ****ing episode. I loved the preview for the next episode, "Heroes takes it to the next level." Kickass.

That was my favorite part!

That was so cool man. I cant wait to see more of him when Hiro is on the bus.

Hopefully we will. Sadly, Stan (AS COOL AS HE IS) isn't really that great an actor. He basically acts like Stan Lee in eveything he's in.

Good point there. But still, Hiro + Stan = hilarious screen time from the two. It's a long shot, but I hope there's trouble for Hiro when he's on that bus and he has to stop it.

I can't WAIT till he gets that sword!:woot:

He's a telekinetic. He stops them with his mind.

He's Haitian. He's only ever been referred to as The Haitian. sheesh!:o

I believe it was Nathan who said it during the Simone/Going public discussion. He was worried they were gonna send them o an island yadda yadda. The Direct quote is more wink wink than my memory.

i doubt that that was a nod to the show lost

putting weird people on islands is common

dr.monroe
that freaky island on the simpsons

islands are just were u experiment on people

You're correct.

Your argument lost steam since you renamed Dr. Moreau "Monroe" and gave two examples of the same thing (the "freaky island" on the Simpsons is nothing more than a nod to The Island of Dr. Moreau).

i loved nathan's 'lost' reference, if no one else has mentioned it yet... in his conversation with simone.

a great episode, through and through... i loved it.

"I'd round us all up, stick us in a lab on some island in the middle of the ocean."

How is that a Lost reference (I don't watch that craptacular show, so I have no idea)? Didn't the people on the island survive a plane crash? Or were they really put there for experimentation or something?

lol Not only was it mentioned at the top half of this page, and discussed further afterwards, but I mentioned it Tuesday here. :D

But yeah, I agreed with it, too.
