The Penguin Episode 2: Inside Man (Spoiler Thread)

theory about The Hangman:

given that carmine falcone had a penchant for strangling women, and the radio broadcast mention specifically 7 women were murdered - what if he was really The Hangman, and sofia took the fall for him?

yikes. father of the year.

or sofia really took after her father's bad habits and strangled these people as well.

Alternatively, I wonder if Carmine offered her up/framed her. Maybe he takes advantage of her deteriorating mental condition and uses her to cover his own crimes.

I find some of the casting of the Italian crime factions a bit strange. Clancy Brown as Maroni, for example, is way too white bread to be an Italian mafioso.

The way they focus on Sofia's rep and the way others see her and her reaction to it, screams she took the fall for another. Whether it was willing or not. She also uses that potentially unearned rep to her advantage.

Think it's a decent connection with Oz. The way their parents effect them. Though I'm not 100% positive it's her dad. I can see a couple other options.

Repost from the main thread, but it's relevant to the theory discussed here:

It hadn't occurred to me that Sofia might have been framed for her father's crimes, but it's a pretty coool idea...
Maybe this series will be a sort of hangman origin story, in the sense that Sofia will probably now, in a cruel irony, embrace this figure to get her revenge on the family.

Also, I noticed that Sofia seems to only really care about her brother and that got me thinking now.... What if Alberto was actually the one setting her up for his own crimes?
That would make a nice little twist and give her reason to completely lose it and unleash all the madness and rage she's struggling to contain...

i had this thought too...what if
Alberto is the one who was doing all those murders...sort of a twist on how he was the holiday killer in the long halloween

I was thinking about that too, also could be the reason why Alberto visits her, out of guilt. Although another thought I had, since this show is about penguin, is that it's actually Oz, since apparently he had something to do with putting her away and we've all seen now how good he is at getting out of trouble.

Oz doesn't seem to be the type of person to murder women like that though.
so far, from the movie and show has shown - he seems relatively respectful towards women.
maybe has to do with him having such a domineering mother?

i'm thinking Oz maybe came across (planted) evidence that Sofia strangled these people and reported it to Carmine?

i'm still thinking the murders are mostly likely tied to either Carmine or Alberto at this point.
