Discuss episode 5 here.

With enemies closing in, the coven flees under the blood moon to the next ghastly trial.

Really sad that we still don't know the episode title. :funny:

Probably my least favorite episode but that was mostly due to the length. With the short runtime, the pacing was off and felt kinda rushed. Did really like the 2nd half of the episode and the ending though. Really glad they didn't try drag out Teen's true identity as Billy. Was half expecting them to do the reveal in the 2nd to last episode.

Yeah, I’m interested to see where they go with the character for the remaining 4 episodes.

Oof. These threads aren’t even getting past page one 🫠.

Anyway this was another kinda fun but weak episode. Very short, formulaic trial with tiny little tidbits of interesting information sprinkled in. Aubrey Plaza cackling while flying on a broomstick was a highlight. The reveal was predictable but also done in a strange way where there still is a lot left for the audience to guess. Curious to see how the witches being in the bog will affect the trial formula for the next bunch of episodes.
Sad to see Alice go. The theory of the witches getting Suicide Squaded seems to be true. I do wonder if
they’ll be brought back to life. Seems too cruel for a show like this to be killing off all the good (or at least not evil) people. I’m guessing Rio’s real identity might come into play with that. Wonder if that’s why she was missing at the end there because she was with Alice.

Oof Agatha that was cold, even for you.

Honestly, I’m so pissed at MoM for Wanda’s character assassination that I hope Teen being Billy somehow means Wanda’s not dead. I keep seeing theories that Elizabeth Olsen will be in future movies but I’m wary of those sources given how off they were for Deadpool.

The pacing of this episode was disappointing. It could have easily been longer with more of Agatha’s issues with her mom being fleshed out.

Also, the weird vibes of their clothing in each trial now makes sense lol. Like Wanda’s tv sitcom obsession.

it confirmed that lizzie is coming back and shes not dead i read the comics

Interesting that I thought the previous episodes were kind of boring and this one is a lot more interesting. So far the only episode that I like others were meh.

it was a cool reveal an all...
I mean there's been speculation about it from the beginning, and then there was that Funko leak

so, it was hardly surprising...

but, I'm still waiting on the explanation of the how

I do have question, tho was he faking it the whole time (even with the whole sigil spell on him?) or was the spell broken when Agatha revealed knowing who his mother was? that even he didn't know

she said something to the effect of "these type of spells usually just stay on as along as they needed"* once the truth was discovered it was no longer needed

I got those vibes from Joe Lockes acting, that Billy was faking it the whole time or he got his "real" memory back at least.
He was not in enough rage to "kill" not even Agatha but also Lillia and Jen in affect.

Short episode, pacing was a bit off I agree, but that's probably because some stuff is being left for next week. Well, that and the CGI budget was higher this week. We assumed that everything at the end is still part of the trial. That ended way too easily. Plus, the seven would be right on their tail if they had left the trial.

Glad to see you-know-who though. Hope he gets a long run.

So that means:
6 - Teen Flashback episode [like the Monica episode in Wandavision]
7 - Trial Lillia
8 - Trial Rio with Flashbacks of her past with Agatha
9 - Showdown

And we still need to know which actor/actress will match for this title card in the credits.
I doubt Olsen would show up just in the middle

I think a better format for discussion is just to have one ongoing thread, not just for this tv show but for all series in general on this forum to have one thread to encompass all the conversing instead of creating a new one for each episode

I have been watching the show, and honestly I'm hyped for watching each episode every week but I gotta be honest I think I'm enjoying it mostly because it's a Halloween-esque show dropping during the Halloween season.

outside of that, without getting into details, I don't know if I would be into the show that much.

IMO, this series aint that good. It started off good with hte first episode but its gone downhill. It feels repetitive and the plot not that engaging. Its kinda boring and doesnt fee like must see tv. Im guessing people are getting to it whenever they get to it rather than rushing to view on Wed upon release

Yeah I agree. Even though I like the cast and the whole halloween vibe, this show has the same issues as most Marvel/Star Wars Disney+ shows where they barely have enough story for an hour and a half but they’re being stretched out to make 8/9/10 episodes. Their schtick of making these shows cinematic or like an “8 hour movie” has grown so damn old.

Also they greenlit a spinoff for a D list character that honestly nobody was ever that interested in. Love Kathryn Hahn and I wanted this to be good but this was always a weird choice for a show.

While Triple A ain’t exactly Breaking Bad, I do find it enjoyable. Unlike say Loki Season 2, which felt exactly like a 3 hour movie expanded into a 5 hour series, Agatha feels like an actual TV show. Each episode is easily distinguishable from the next and tells a complete(ish) story. The last live action MCU series to follow traditional TV rules was another Jac Schaeffer series, WandaVision.

IMO Triple A was a great idea and provides a solid blueprint for Marvel TV going forward. Put the spotlight on a character who “popped” in a debut series or movie, hire a top notch cast, make each episode count, and keep the budget reasonable. That method seems much more sustainable for Disney Plus than puffing up non greenlit movie scripts.

It does feel episodic, unlike most Marvel and Star Wars shows. Thank goodness.

It makes sense for the Mouse to get away from the Netflix model of releasing all the episodes at one time for their biggest franchises. But doing so means each episode requires a beginning, middle and an end. If one episode runs into the next in the expanded movie model, the weekly viewing experience can be frustrating. It sounds like Feige and company learned their lesson with some of their TV failures, but we shall see.

Hasnt it been the case that most of their series have been week to week and not all at the same time? I dont watch the SW shows but I know for Marvel the only ones that did all at once was Echo

As far as I know all of the non Echo shows were on a weekly release schedule. Which makes sense in terms of keeping subscribers paying for D Plus. But I’ve found many shows built for binge watching aren’t as enjoyable when released in single episode chunks. Shows like WandaVision and Triple A that are more episodic in nature work better on that release schedule.

It's less this and more that a good chunk of the MCU shows for Disney + are just movies chopped up into 6 episodes.

I'm still enjoying this and I thought the Salem & were genuinely creepy (although it doesn't take much for me to think that ;) ) And KH did great work.

I think a large part of the appeal is that it's a witchy show during Halloween season but that's where good scheduling comes in so who cares? It is making me a little nostalgic for the days of WandaVision where that show had such a community around it during many lockdowns (obviously don't miss that) which is also a part of it. I also like the Wizard of Oz motif and Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza in general.

It doesn't appeal to everyone and that's perfectly ok.
