I think the african-american culture reached it's peak in coolness in the 70's. I don't find today's steriotipical gangsters cool. I did however find the early/mid 1900's white gangsters cool. So I don't think race has much to do with it. It's more lifestyle and attitude.

No, we as black people are not the epitomy of cool, but there are many examples of blacks that were/are the epitomy of cool.

I heard it's cool to be mixed race now as apparently, we have the best of both worlds - being from a "culturally rich" background and all.

If the definition is "cool" is:

"fashionable and attractive at the time; often skilled or socially adept"

Then, perhaps, stuff black people did were cool once but now the mixed race generation are the future.

A lot of pop culture influences that black people have done over the years has seeped into the mainstream over time, mostly due to inane non-black people attempting to utilize it. Though as soon as a white guy starts using slang or doing stuff we were doing, suddenly it becomes no longer cool. The day I heard a middle aged woman use the term bling, I knew it was over.
