When Geek became cool

Geek isn't cool, it's just more socially acceptable.

Exactly.

Yeah I don't consider scarface to be a geek. I consider her to be an idiot because only an idiot would turn Mean Girls into a movie.

Mean Girls is AWESOME! :cmad:

If you wear glasses, you are a geek. Plain and simple. Peter Griffin is the only exception.

Yea, cause he wears them to fool the army. :oldrazz:

How many years ago were things like video game systems, comic books, computers thought to be solely for kids and nerdy geeks?

Well...I think video games have always been popular with various age groups and HS cliques, but you are correct about everything else.

Liking geeky things is only cool if it's done in an ironic fashion. If you seriously are into it you get looked at funny.

Thats true. Its one thing to say, "I like Star Wars" but to go dressed as Luke Skywalker to Comic-Con is another.

The Geek shall inherit the Earth. Its been predicted

Geek is just the latest trend of sterotype. Emo came before that and before that we had the Chav. No one person is on sterotype 100%. If they are then poor them but reality is in a few years the new trend my fall back to Jock or Preppy or whatever.

^ The few rule the many.:o

The few are rich and can get bodyguards :o

But in all fairness, the power players of Earth are not really geeks are they?

Actually yeah they are. What do you think most world leaders(people who went to debate class and most likely busted their ass in college as opposed to being a halfwit jock) were in their youth??

The Geeks are the largest group, but they don't out weigh all the others combined. And, like I said, geeks don't rule. They may do so in movies, and tv, but thats for rating. Just cause they have a happy ending, doesn't make the geek look cooler. Jocks and Preps still rule the stereotypes. Although I am proud to say geeks are higher than Goths and Emos.

That makes sence,it's just a trend..and people will loose interest when the next group comes around.

The bottom line is that if you try to put anyone in one group you have failed already. World leaders are not just geeks....they have a jock confidence, a geeks smarts. Good confidence does not come from being a geek.

Look, we are talking in terms of soceity's views here. Not what it is when you grow up.

Yeah not in US. I am a geek but I don't act like it. Thats what allows you to get by. When you aren't open about it, people let live.
