In the past few years or more, was there ever one particular moment where being a geek was considered cool? When I was in school being a geek was looked down upon, especially if you were a black geek; but nowadays it's been embraced by pop culture, some people even try to get "geek cred".

It's a good thing, but I'm just curious as to when it all turned around.

I blame the internet.

There was a time that I'd beat up most of you and take your lunch money. :(

i'd say around the turn of the century is when we started to first see the shift. movies started coming out that embraced nerdism....Matrix, LotR, Star Wars, etc. and at the turn of the century comic book movies started to come out. Spider-Man in 2002 undoubtedly made being a nerd seem cooler.

Well, counting the $5 I just took from you, it looks like $33.56

Maybe some locker time will smarten you up.

Very much so.

It's the media! Movies with geeks are hot now, especially after American Pie. A guy like Jim attracting a girl like Nadia? It happens in films, it's happening in reality.
Spider-man
Transformers
Road Trip
The Faculty
Superbad
Knocked Up
The O.C
40-year old Virgin
Those are some of the above films and tv shows that have made geeks hot.

Seth Rogen is geek of the moment....

has anybody seen an 80's movie called "Just One Of The Guys"?

Geek isn't cool, it's just more socially acceptable. No one out there is scoring more ass because they're a level 15 Paladin.

And it happened as a result of Columbine and all the copy cat incidents that followed. You guys all stopped getting shoved into lockers when jocks became scared *****less you'd gun down the whole campus.

Uh if memory serves, they weren't so much geeks than they were social outcasts.

In the 80's it was Anthony Micheal Hall....

Today we have Shia LaBeouf
