The Dark Knight Eric Roberts is Maroni!

Nice casting. Real nice. Daddy like. :yay:

E. Roberts can do a creepy tough guy like nobodyand he's staeling every scene in "Heroes" since he's been on there!

What we need is a manip of Roberts in a suit with dark hair and a thin dark mustash......

He will definitly nail the look, but honestly what Maroni will probably have like 15 minutes tops of film time? It's not like it's a huge role and even if it was I think it will Roberts will be excellent as Maroni if the news is correct.

I think we may all be getting spoiled a bit considering the cast is so star studded we want to see everyone we think is perfect in the role no matter the cost, it would be nice but I think we need to come back down to earth a bit.

Well Eric does not have the "look" but that can be engineered. What does he bring? I think he plays a great slime ball. Arrogant jackass type of character. He has this dangerous used car salesmen like voice and demeanour to him that is perfect for a boss who wants to take is all. Check out Heroes and you will see for your self. :cwink:

I agree. I don't think that Maroni would have much screen time. I could be wrong though. How much total screen time did Falcone have in BB? Not too much.

Great news, I love this guy. Tough face and a good enough actor to pull this off.

Well he has been nominated for an Oscar never realized that.

I've only heard of him from a Doctor Who telemovie where he played The Master, that and the fact he and his sister don't get along. Wasn't Julia lined up to play Poison Ivy in the other version?

Emma: So Chris we got Roberts for the part of Maroni

Nolan: Great, I know that people will really say WTF for hiring an actress for this part instead of a man, but I think Julia will really be a great addition and box office gold.

Emma: WHAT!? I thought you meant her brother Eric?

Nolan: Eric? Who in the **** is that?

Emma: Julia's brother!

Nolan: Oh ****!

LOL :woot:

I'm pretty sure Joel Schumacher stated that Roberts as Ivy was just a rumor that came up b/c they had worked previously together in Flatliners and Dying Young.

:wow:

Damn i would love to see that. Even nowadays, she could contend with Eva Green for the role and I'd be one very happy chappy.

Roberts is a great actor, with the majority of his roles from the 80's... If Nolan casted him then we know he'll work out...

Falcone didn't have much screen time, but he stole every scene...

Just saw this at CS but new Miranda Holmes would have beaten me to it here:woot:

He's a solid actor and well suited to bad guy roles

so far i've only seen him in Heroes, and he's a real SOB in that series--perfect for Maroni IMO

Is this the same Eric Roberts who got eaten on SOUTH PARK?

I can't wait to see them cast John Stamos for a role in this film, lol

Before any even thinks about saying Eric Roberts can't play a bad guy, I suggest said persons rent The Nature of the Beast.

He makes the audeince think he is a bad guy throughout the entire film, when, in fact, he is not.

Even though I gave the plot away, still watch the film. He sold me, and I give him a  for Maroni.

Edit: Even on top of a "bad guy" role, I also think Roberts can act.

Anyone doubting Roberts should check out episode 4 of the prison series OZ, he plays a one off part as a guy on death row, i didnt know about the 'creepy guy' tag he got early on so the OZ casting makes sense. He is also very funny, intentionally, unlike many B-movie actors. Going by that one scene in OZ, i think this guy could play any type of villan and have the audience's undivided attention. After seein a doc on Julia R that compared their career trag's i always felt that this guy was in a league below where he should be working, he was quite winded by her goin supernova while he went bottom shelf for a while, he had got acting success first.
I'm glad Nolan has picked out Eric Roberts as it shows he's still got an eye for the talent without any of the BS that hovers around it deterring his judgement.

Maroni and his goons will have thier time in TDK ( we all know Nolan's & Goyer's influences).......isnt Joker supposed to be in the middle of a good & evil war? Evil = Maroni/mob vs Bats/Gordon/Dent. Joker's the one causing chaos and in the end there are victoms...the only we know is Dent, could there be others? I really like the Joker but BB wasn't about 1 villain or character, besides Bruce Wayne which was a given. I don't think Nolan will all of a sudden change his ways to please a small community. We've already had our share of a Joker movie. There are plenty of other characters in TDK that will get equal time.

I think he'll be good . . . he's been in a lot of B-movies, but his chops are decent . . . and the important thing is, he's not all about being a MOVIE star, he's about the craft

You know what, I like this choice...he's good at playing a weasly prick. Look at him in "Star 80"...
