Escape from New York (Remake)

If you "HAD" to recast Plisskin...do you like the choice of Gerard Butler???

  • Yes I like him...not sure if he's my top choice but...I like it! :)

  • No he's not right for the role at all. :(

  • Not bad but...I'm not sure yet...need to give it more time.

Not bad but I would prefer if he got some more serious roles so he doesn't risk the chance of losing steam by becoming an "action" star.

He's nearly 40 though, can't blame him for wanting to get some coin while he has the chance.

he is all wrong for the role

jeremy is great but being a bad ass is not what i would call him which snake is supposed to be

Renner as Snake I could definitely get into. I don't want a duplicate of Russel. I want Snake and his qualities, but not someone Russel like.

"Escape from New York" Remake Dead

By Garth Franklin Thursday July 21st 2011 04:56AM
While four of John Carpenter's early features have scored remakes, a fifth one in the works looks to have hit a wall.
Deadline reports that New Line and Warner Bros. Pictures have allowed the option on a remake of 1981's "Escape from New York" to expire.
Kurt Russell starred as the eye patch-wearing antihero Snake Plissken in the original which was set in a near future totalitarian United States where Manhattan Island has been turned into a maximum security prison and Plissken has one day to rescue the U.S. President who is being held hostage there.
New Line and producer Neal Moritz have been working on the reboot for several years. The likes of Gerard Butler, Jeremy Renner and Tom Hardy have previously been linked to play Plissken.
