Fable III

Since you guys recommended it, I picked up fable II at gamestop yesterday...$8 preowned! Lol

Pretty good price for that game. It had its flaws but was still pretty fun.

at what point can you dye your hair ( blonde, especially )?

do I have to be a brunette the entire game? lol

and can you change your eye color, too?

You can pick up hair dye to change the color of your hair. Not sure where exactly you can find them tho.

its at the heroes sanctuary? i fotget what its called but its at your headquarters after you buy the dye you walk up to it and you can change your color

I can't remember the final act, what was so bad about it? I remember digging the game.

Fable III was a chore to finish. If I wasn't such an achievement ****e, I would have ditched that **** a few hours into it.

in terms of final acts... it easily goes

1)Fable (they've never had a boss fight comparable to really ANY of the boss fights in the first game)
2)Fable III
3)Fable II (the end was a joke)

AHHHHH, now I remember. Yeah, I was just like.....ok?

Fable 3 was fun... if it wasn't for the fact it had a million game-freezing bugs. Kinda took away my enjoyment when I felt like I had to save every 3 minutes, not because I might die, but because the game might crash. The worst was when I got stuck in Reaver's mansion and no one would move into the next room with the tournament. Getting through the glitches was the only real challenge, because except for the awesome desert level with the evil shadows (their names escape me), it seemed impossible to get killed unless you really sucked.

Fable 2's ending was terrible, and while fun, the game itself doesn't really linger in my memory. The dream level where you were trapped in an idyllic setting... that was really something new and cool. That and being stuck on the Spire as a slave (even though it's basically a rehashed plot-twist from the first game) were probably the high points.

Maybe I'm recalling it with rose-tinted glasses, but Fable 1 is still my favorite. I think because its story, its protagonist, its bad guys (Jack of Blades!), its fellow heroes, even its missions all felt stronger than its counterparts in the next 2 games. And I strongly prefer the more fantastical world as opposed to the industrial revolution setting of the next 2 games. There was something so cool and original about Fable 1 that seemed a bit lacking in the next 2 games, like they were trying too hard to recapture the magic, but not quite getting there.

Still, there was a lot of stuff I liked about 3 and 2.

So my order would go like this...

Fable 1 (including Lost Chapters)
Fable 3
Fable 2

if you download the games to your hard drive they don't freeze

Sure, build-up that had to do with the fact that the guy had a ton of underlings to do his dirty work for him, because he had no chance at defeating you or the other Heroes himself.

It's one of the few things I'll give Molyneux credit for.

....... ummm with the power of the spire, coudn't he have at least suped himself up with magic for an actual boss fight?

Evidently not, since it didn't happen.

Why does there need to be an actual boss fight? It doesn't change the story in any way, nor does it add to the story. It's just something that gets tacked on. Why? Because it needs to be there? Except no, it doesn't.

I don't think you're viewing it with rose tinted glasses. I loved Fable 1, had fun with Fable 2, but I was sorely disappointed in it overall. Fable 1 seemed to have way more things to do, things to find, armor to acquire, secret weapons, etc. Fable 2 felt about 1/4 the size of Fable 1.

Ummm it adds to the friggin gameplay is what it adds.
No, it makes the gameplay and final product look more like **** by tacking on something that's unnecessary, superfluous, and damaging to the narrative.

It's not a ****ing fighting game where after defeating one stage the screen flashes and you get "Hii-yah! Hidden Boss! Special Fight! Begin!"

No one says it needed that, but saying it would be 'tacked on' is just a total non-point. You could say any game feature could potentially be 'tacked on', it depends entirely on the dev's commitment to the game. There could actually be a totally epic, bad ass boss fight that serves as an engaging and dramatic climax and punctuation to the story.
