Fable III

I don't know about everyone else, but I stopped buying houses once I got the ability to own a business. Houses need upkeep (since you don't get rent for houses that are 0% structurally) and that gets annoying to keep track of. Businesses just give you money, no upkeep. To make up for the lost revenue, I jacked up the prices at my businesses. People hate me for it, but that'll change once I save their asses. I'll drop the prices after that :)

Oh yeah, I hate that you have to keep repairing those dumps. I think I'm gonna skip the side quests for the time being and go down the main quest line until I reach the Entrepreneur Pack on the Road to Rule. Then I'll sell the houses, buy businesses, and probably just leave the game on overnight to let the money roll in. Bit of a cheat, yes, but I really f***ing hate scrounging for money.

Be sure to rubber band your left stick to have the character run in circles if you're going to do that. Just leaving them standing will bring up the pause screen after a while and I'm betting you don't get money when that happens.

Yeah, I know. I miss the Fable 2 days of money accruing even when the game is off.

Corp, the pubs are the best to buy. They earn a tonne of money, plus you can sleep there whenever you want which saves the hassle of evicting tennants if you need a bed. Also, as you start earning more money, just start buying up everything you possibly can. You really need to for later in the game, and the earlier you own properties the easier it just makes it. Also, don't be afraid to jack the rent up. People might hate you, but i found that all the other good deeds I was doing anyway just balanced it out, if not kept me in high favour anyway.

Cool, thanks.

Do you know if money accrues in the Sanctuary, or do you have to be out in the world for it to happen?

The pawn shops generate a ton of money too (they also COST a ton of money). If you want to buy real estate to rent out, raise enough money to buy the houses in Millfields. They're already at 100% and give many thousands of dollars in rent.

Yeah, it does. It also accrues when in another players world, on top of any shared business ventures. Every 5 minutes of actually actively playing the game and you get payday. If only real life were the same *sigh*

Do you still have to buy stuff from stores you own? If so, do they at least jack the discount way up to like 50% or something?

You do get a discount. It varies between stores. I need to check on stores where I'm hated. Last I looked, they charged me 9% more.

Related: I kind of hate that you get quests where you have to murder someone in the middle of town. I was playing through as a likeable guy until these quests came along. Now everyone hates me. I'll get them back on my side eventually, but I'd rather have a choice to let the person live and then deal with the jerk who ordered the hit to end the quest.

I'll admit that I've never done that kind of quest, or even encountered it, but I'll pose the question nonetheless: If playing a likable character, why would you do a quest which was set up for you to go and kill a person in the middle of a populated area?

It's kinda like doing Assassination Society quests as a good guy in Fable II and complaining you don't have a halo anymore.

Look, plenty of decent people murder others in broad daylight in the middle of populated areas. Just because you haven't heard of it, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. :cmad:

I'll join your game and murder your townspeople if you wanna keep being fresh!

@ El Bastardo, Look maybe, just maybe, and this is purely hypothetical, a certain 'Kingly' figure, disgruntled with the sudden fall from grace and loss of, lets just say, 6.5 million citizens, annoyed with his newfound status as 'apparent tyrant' just thinks 'What the hell, they couldn't hate me anymore'. Of course, thats hypothetical. It certainly hasn't happened to me.... Errr, or anyone else... because it's hypothetical. I DIDNT MEAN TO KILL THE HIPPY!

That's just mean. I bet your world is a land of sunshine and flowers and gumdrops with a jerk like you in charge. :o

Although that reminds me, I do need to open that co-op Demon Door still...

But then why care about whether or not people hate your or not, in that hypothetical case?

My world IS a land of sunshine and flowers, but not gumdrops. Those get messy.

I do too, with both my characters.

I'll have to check to make sure, but I don't remember getting the option to interact or hold hands when I got to the target.

As for your question about why I'm doing it, it's for the guild seals, fool! I needs 'em! Those 180-seal chests won't open themselves.

I kind of want to switch to evil, but I always tend to play the good path first. I planned out a good princess who'd be uber-amazing at everything and an evil prince who gets chubby on mutton over the course of the game. :)

Do what Grunt (Mass Effect 2) does! Kill ****.

They need another arena like in Fable 2 so I can just go somewhere and grind. Walking around killing bands of hobbes gets too tiresome.

On a separate note, Wrex > Grunt

Wrex no longer exists as a corporeal being in my main ME playthrough.

So Grunt is superior there by benefit of the doubt. :D
