from an xmen stand point....do i ever agree with the fact that i think cyclops should have been the one to kill jean, 100 percent, they also should have been married in X2(if they where it should be more obvious) to make it even harder for him to kill her like he has to...that would be cool
but in reality, who is the franchises most popular character, and the one guy they can garuntee fans will revolve around? Wolverine, sometimes it sucks other times it doesn't, i personally don't mind it that much, but haveing cyclops make the desicion to kill jean would have been alot deeper
ummm higher then the nightcrawler scene? jeeze i don't know about that...but i did like them alot, i wasn't ready for juggernaut to hit wolverine i thought something else would happen and then wolveine flipped over him, i liked that...
but better then the nightcrawler one? i don't know both are solid
i am open to other peoples opinions...what did you not think was good about the movie? that isn't a a double sided question there are stuff i didn't think was good about it, but not to the extent of saying that the movie was not good, but i am interested to hear what you think makes it not a good movie (not xmen related stuff, cause like i said before there is not one xmen fan in the world 100 percent happy with this movie, or any of the xmen movies)
like did you not like the acting, tone, style, writing, story, cinemetography, timing? cause i don't like the handling of cyclops, but from a movie stand point that doesn't make the film worse
It just didn't gell for me as a whole. It needed more character exploration, a good 1/2 hour of dialogue. It just felt a bit... hollow. Sorta like a cake made out of all frosting. Does that make sense?
But the FX and action scenes were really well done. The CGI was some of the best I've ever seen. And some of the actors were really amazing (albeit underused). As far as character deaths, I have no problem with killing off major characters, provided that it's done well. I also have no problem with them straying from the comic book.
I approached this film as objectively as possible (I was originally a films major, and I used to write reviews for the paper, so I've learned how to "watch" a movie in that respect). In that respect, I can't really give it a good review.
From a Subjective standpoint, though, I liked the film. It fulfilled all the X-nerd requirements (like "I'm the Juggernaut, Bi*tch!" Or when Kitty called Juggs a "Di*ckhead"), and I had so much fun watching my favorite comic book characters come to life.
I hope that makes sense!
they could work around it...she dosen't have to be demolecularize everything (haha first time i have ever spelt that word) like the battle could have just made it so Cyclops would be the only one who could get to her, like shes about to flood everything or something...i dunno....one reason i didn't write the movie, but there could have been ways around it..yes logan loved her, but poor Cyke so did he, and he and her had something it would have been harder for me to watch cyclops kill her then wolveirne

yah i completely loved the jean vs Xavier scene, and the fire in her eyes. I thought the music went really well. And the final jean scene. It seemed so iconic and right out of the comics for me. Not that it was a specific scene, but that it captured the essential spirit of the logan/jean relationship.
The Nightcrawler's Attack on the White House action sequence was one of the best I've ever seen in CBMs history. Not sure if anything in X3 topped that...maybe the Jean/Xavier mental battle could be a close call...

Wow, fantastic, makes perfect sense, i think i can agree with you in many regards, like one way i would have changed it would have been to just add like a mintue-5 minutes to the every scene to equel about 1/2 an hour
for example
trask and the president are talking about magneto after his terrorist threats...and the president says "can we use this cure to our atvantage?" and trask says "we are currently in the final stages of weaponizing it" president says "weaponizing?" trask "a cure gun, sir" ....thus not making the cure guns completely cliche, and give some humanity to these people to show they are doing this for protection in case of something like that or something...
yeah i dunno, from a critical aspect though, i think when i watched the movie from the angle that kingberg penn and ratner said that this is the pay off movie...that makes sense
the reason their isn't a tone of character development, is because this is the pay off movie for these characters who have been developing for 3 movies(Magneto, Scott, Logan, Xavier, Jean, kind of Storm)
and i think that the characters who haven't developed along nicely, like Bobby continuing getting to be a bigger contributor as an xmen, Pyro has no turned 100 percent badass...angel shadowcat are beginning their Arc's, i can get why the did that, i dunno, i may stand alone and thats cool with me, but i liked alot of that movie
In a nutshell and non of this comicbook must be exactly as we have known nonsense. it was truly an awesome movie. i honestly can truly say i am a fan of the old comics, and the 90's television series, and i cannot see anything wrong with the movie as a whole. sure there are differences, but it's a movie, not a comic book. it is a movie, and for that sake things must be changed, lets just be thankful it was a fun and enjoyable movie. it wasn't confusing, it wasn't boring, it wasn't crap. it was a great movie.
now that i've made my point, i will say it one more time, this was a good movie, stop comparing it to the comics and television series, because this isn't that, it takes stuff from that and uses it into a new movie.
leave it alone
the movie was awesome
there.. i think i've said that enough..
oh btw. when you go to see it for the second/third/fourth time or whenever, try to go into the theatre not thinking about the past comics and tv series, just go in thinking its a new movie, and your there to enjoy it, not pick it apart.

-Beast
Beast is probably my favorite thing about this movie. They captured everything that I love about Beast, and got it on film. He was awesome in the final battle. And I love how
they give him the important task of curing Magneto
. They added "Oh my stars and garters" for good measure! And his exchange with Wolverine in the final battle... "I thought you were a diplomat" "There comes a time where every man must..." *punch* *kick* *kick @$$* "Oh you get the point!"
-Magneto
The little things. Magneto's portrayal in X-Men and X2 has been absolutley brilliant. But this time, it was the little touches. The tape on the news after the terrorist attack on the cure center. "Traitors to their own cause" when the X-Men get into the battle. And Magneto's respect for Xavier; "Charles did more for mutants than you'll ever know!" Oh yea, then there's the whole breaking Mystique out of the convoy thing, the whole Golden Gate Bridge thing, the whole launching cars at the military / X-Men thing, and the whole revolutionary thing; "There's only one question you must answer, who will you stand with" "They wish to cure us, but I say we are the cure!"
-The X-Men "entrance theme"
When the X-Men land in the final battle, each one of them makes a unique entrance, while the movie's theme plays in the background. That was awesome.
-Wolverine's skeleton
I liked seeing the hints of his adamantium skeleton as he climbed up towards Jean. Granted, that should have been Cyclops, but that's for another time.
-Juggernaut
Very well done, he kicked massive ass.
-Psi Battle duel
This was a pretty badass scene, with Xavier and Jean duking it out mentally while Magneto watches helplessly, all the while Storm pwns the **** out of Quill and Arclight, and Juggernaut pwns the **** out of Wolverine. Great scene.
-Wolverine in the woods
Another badass battle. Although, this is the other thing that would have been amazingly awesome had it been Cyclops and not Wolverine, but again, that's for another discussion.
i forgive the lack of cyclops in the movie because it works within the universe started by singer. Wolverine was always the main guy, Cyclops was never a huge factor. Making him the focal point wouldnt have made sense after watching the 1st two. True hes jeans love, but i think i find the jean/wolverine relationship more compelling. Because its a forbidden love, he never gets the girl.
