Fantastic Four Animated Series Discussion

I am really liking this show....I think too many people are put off by its style, which is a shame

I hope it gets a series 2, with even more superhero cameos

The Puppet Master episode was actually very good,i thought it would not go anywhere..but in the end,it came together.

My 6 year old asked me to watch it with him and I figured why not...
I thought there were actually a few good lines in this one. But I still just can't stand to look at it.
Why is it that all these unecessary, ugly changes (Ben's spray-painted '4', Johnny's pointy chin and Pikachu-hair) are accepted by a sizable number of cartoon fans when those same changes would be met by a lynch mob if this were the movie?
The spray-painted '4' alone would set off cyber-riots. (And rightfully so.)
Why is this cartoon being held to a different standard?

Again, I have no complaint with the scripts. It's the look.

I think it's the same standard that's applied to the comics themselves. There are plenty of artists that all have their unique styles that certainly don't always mesh with what was originally conceived by Jack Kirby.

That hasn't stopped us from reading the book through it's many incarnations. Look at Simonson's run compared to Byrne's run. You couldn't have two more disparate styles - but both series worked and were enjoyed.

When it comes to the live action version of comic or animated characters - people want to see the 'base' version of that character displayed.
That's why there was such an uproar on the casting of Alba as Sue. A lot of work went into making her appear to be the blonde-haired, blue-eyed Sue - when there are a number of actresses that fit that description.

If you don't like the style of the animation or some of the character designs, it takes a little bit away from the experience. Doesn't mean it can't be appreciated for what it is, though.

All the complaints about the look of the series came and went a year in advance of it premiering. When it finally debuted, many people were able to look past the bizarre design decisions and appreciate the strength of the writing.

The writing kinda sucked in this last ep though.

"Father, what's going on?"

"I may only be your stepfather Alicia but I've always thought of you as my daughter..."

O_o 'kay...

Or something akin to that. It was nice to see Alicia get some more screentime even if this was a sub par episode. But really Puppet Master has always been a stupid idea for a villain. Now he's a crazy old man with a tattoo on his neck who kinda reminded me of Granddad from the Boondocks.

As always, Johnny got the best line, "Reed's so crazy!"

Did they say anything about putting the Silver Surfer in this series, it could certainly use him and Galactus.

I don't mind the look, i just wish it was a lil bit more violent...

They're not allowed to use them because they aren't allowed to "conflict" with the movies... basically the same rules that were put on Spider-Man: TNAS and The Batman.

Maybe restrictions will be removed in future seasons... since Doom wasn't off-limits?

OOowwww, they started to repeat the episodes here! they stopped at the episode nº19, with only 5 episodes left!!

Pfft...Electro and Sandman weren't in the animated series because of Cameron's plans, and once it went the way of the dodo the only one they had time to put in was Electro. Screw the "confliction" rule- let them adapt the characters how they want to adapt them, and then let the movie speak for itself. All it's doing is increasing public awareness of the character.

Agreed, but... this is what we have to deal with.

No Sandman or Electro in Spider-Man: TAS, no Doc Ock in Spider-Man: TNAS, no Scarecrow or Ra's al Ghul in The Batman, and no Galactus or Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four: WGH.

It's lame. But it's how it is.

but didn't X-Men evo have The entire brotherhood?

and the project X story?

Well then again the story was immensley diff. from the movies. *shrugs*

I think X-men Evolution was produced for Fox... so the rights to those characters were already secured by Fox.

And doesn't Warner Bros like own DC? I'm not terribly otraged by the lack of SS & Big G in this series but these rules are just so F-ING stupid. They only seem to apply to certain characters and not others.

Electro was in Spider-man: TAS, though.

Excuse me lady but Electro was in the animated series http://www.tv.com/spider-man/show/2439/episode_guide.html?season=5&tag=season_dropdown;dropdown;4
episode #58....check your sources next time...:cmad: before an angry Spidey fan jumps yo ass.

aight we good?
Yeah but that was after the company that had the rights to the movie went under. Which the producers to put electro in at the last min. Now if the movie happened Electro wouldn't have been in any episodes.

Electro was in Spider-man: TAS, though.

Yeah, they finally rescinded that order years later. Just like they eventually rescinded the "No Robin on The Batman" order too. Originally they were concerned about conflict with the Teen Titans series...

Agreed. I was one of those people.

The fanboy in me realized i wrote project instead of weapon.... oh wait I just realized i dislike Logan....

:hyper:

:woot:

Next ep features the IMPOSSIBLE MAN!

Anyone else find it kinda funny how superman's got a sequel in the works, plus Smallville, The Legion of Superheroes and a recurring role in the upcoming season of The Batman while they had to wait like two minutes after Teen Titans ended before adding Robin to The Batman?
