Fantastic Four Animated Series Discussion

I agree, it just looks horrible, and I think it overshadows some of the good things from the show. I think the story telling has been very good. Seems like they want to kind of put it somewhere between the movies and the Ultimate universe, which is unique.

But the animation is just impossible to watch. While I'm all for creating a unique and new spin on the characters, those white blue and orange uniforms were the wrong way to go.

I can deal with the Thing painting a "4" on his chest, I can't deal with Johnny and Reeds, lame haircuts.

Is there a place to find episode names and descriptions for the rest of the season?

I wandered in and caught the last five minutes...How could they get the Hulk so right on this show, while getting so much of the FF stuff wrong?
I enjoyed that last smash-up with the Hulk and the giant robots, and the decent interraction between Ben and the Hulk...but then along comes that Pikachu Headed freak they're calling Johnny Storm. God, what were these people smoking? Take away the flame power and that nimrod does not physically resemble Johnny Storm whatsoever.
So yeah, the painted-on "4" is now the least of my complaints.
I'm just praying they cancel this trainwreck and quickly. It hurts.

Don't watch it then. It is that easy.

I've got a better idea. Don't read the forum if you don't like negative reviews. It's that easy. ;)

There is a difference between negative reviews and just flaming.

Yes, and apparently you don't know what that difference is.
Let's see, I said they got the Hulk right, as well as the dialogue between Ben and the Hulk...then I wrote about how awful Johnny Storm looks, and expressed a desire for this show's cancellation.
Where exactly is the flaming? Last time I checked, "flaming" was a personal attack on another poster.
Sheesh!

Ok. Whatever. I like the show.

I think they need to show more of Sue going invisible. So far we have only seen a little bit of it.

Well, you know that some think that getting a character right or wrong, or saying something good or bad about the comic, movie, cartoon is hitting personally. Or at least thats what I've seen. Some take this stuff very personally.:cwink:

It wasn't so much that as "I wish this was cancelled soon." If you wish that, why are you watching it?

Why do we watch commercials?

Why do we have "rubberneckers" at an accident?

Why do people watch "Dancing With The Stars" and still vote for Jerry Springer?

Why do we watch alot of the things we watch?

You have not proven a point...

We don't have to have a reason to watch anything to have a point of view whether negative or positive.

I often wonder why some post on a board when they have absolutely no desire to see the movie, or the actor or whatever.

Then I finally realized, they will be seeing the movie, probably the first day it comes out, the first showing. Most that post like that are simply being ******ed and love to read their own writing, much the same way they love to listen to themselves speak. Malus does does not fall into that category.

As far as Malus here, he loves the F4 and has for decades. He likes parts of the animated series, but the parts he doesn't like are so overwhelming that he wishes it would be canceled. It says nothing of his desire to watch the animated series with his kids. It simply is his opinion. Not once did he say that you or others couldn't enjoy it.

I missed it myself, and I find it very strange that me as a 37 year old man is upset about missing a cartoon. I enjoy it, but I'm not a long time fan of the F4. I'm new at this.

I personally thought it was really good (setting choppy anime-animation aside, which I still hate). And I really don't see how they "screwed" Johnny's powers anywhere in there. He was doing alot of what he's done in the comics.

The fights between Thing and Hulk were good. I like how they included several nods to what happened in the comics in times past. Like Sue making a force bubble around Hulk's head to take him down. I believe she did the same thing in the comics and took down the Hulk herself. That was nice.

I also like that they showed her disappearing. I'd like to see more of that. I also liked the ongoing banter between Thing and Johnny. That's classic.

However, I seriously think they should have - at least - removed Johnny's sideburns. He would have looked much better.

why do they give all the guys long eyelashes?

Yeah, that part bugs me.

Yeah? Well, it could be MUCH worse. Just be happy they didn't do this:

Now THAT is something to puke over. :P They could have made them like the above cover, but they didn't. Aside from those ugly pet peeves the Anime style has the story itself is good and the F4 are getting more IC (in-character) lately.

So, IMO, the shows just keep getting better.

BTW, does anyone know who did the voice of Bruce Banner? Just curious, because they don't mention it on any of the sites I've found.

I just saw the show for the first time last night (my Comcast DVDR scheduler somehow missed picking up the time change on the other nights) and I have to say it really is not a such a bad way for the kids to get introduced to the FF or to continue following their exploits if they liked the movie. Do I think it was perfect? No... But then I have to remember that I (at my advanced age) am not the target audience.

I caught that scene with Sue putting the force bubble over the Hulk's head or Reed wrapping himself around his body and I thought the same thing... they are actually using the powers as they do in the comics. And I liked the domestic scenes they throw in to show that the FF are a family.

Another plus is that at least we are getting to see other characters from the MU popping up, something we will never see on this kind of scale in the movie franchises, since they are scattered among different competing studios. Over all, I would give it a "B" for the kids. And I still may check it out from time to time myself.

I wouldn't have much to compare the animation with, except from the 90's cartoon, and the 60's re-runs I watched as a kid. I'm not real keen on Johnny's animation, Reed's voice, etc. But the rest of it has been very enjoyable. I think they've done the best work, voice, etc. on Sue and Ben.

Yeah, I agree. Johnny's voice would be fine if he didn't come across as a whiny kid sometimes (which was most prominent when facing Ronan the Accuser in "Trial By Fire"), which I have to say, I really dislike. Reed doesn't seem quite as "Reed-like" either. (But, of course, I might just be partial to Ioan's portrayal of Reed in the movie. XD)

Sue and Ben are good, though. Along with Dr. Doom.

Reed's voice sounds like Ioan's to me sometimes. I just don't think it sounds "super genius" to me.

He was a combo of pyro and iceman in the comics?
