Fantastic Four Animated Series Discussion

he made their guns glow just by thought.

which means he can control heat by thought, so he can completely remove all the heat from something and freeze it.

He didn't do that. He melted the propellers. The animation was bad so it looked like ice. He even said "I melted your tractors"

what the hell are you talking about.

nobody mentioned helicoptors.

i said guns.

If you're familiar with the comics, you would know that Johnny can melt things just by concentrating on them. That's what he did there. They glowed red because he was superheating the guns and the men dropped them, because they were so hot.

It's nothing new as far as (the comic version) Johnny Storm is concerned.

I personally thought it was really good (setting choppy anime-animation aside, which I still hate). And I really don't see how they "screwed" Johnny's powers anywhere in there. He was doing alot of what he's done in the comics.

The fights between Thing and Hulk were good. I like how they included several nods to what happened in the comics in times past. Like Sue making a force bubble around Hulk's head to take him down. I believe she did the same thing in the comics and took down the Hulk herself. That was nice.

I also like that they showed her disappearing. I'd like to see more of that. I also liked the ongoing banter between Thing and Johnny. That's classic.

However, I seriously think they should have - at least - removed Johnny's sideburns. He would have looked much better.

Yeah, that part bugs me.

Yeah? Well, it could be MUCH worse. Just be happy they didn't do this:

Now THAT is something to puke over. :P They could have made them like the above cover, but they didn't. Aside from those ugly pet peeves the Anime style has the story itself is good and the F4 are getting more IC (in-character) lately.

So, IMO, the shows just keep getting better.

BTW, does anyone know who did the voice of Bruce Banner? Just curious, because they don't mention it on any of the sites I've found.

The art style isn't very good, but those costumes are 10000 times better than the ones from the toon.

Well, they used to have the first episode "Trial By Fire" on youtube. I think I heard somewhere that that guy's account was suspended or something, but you can try it. The link is here:

But other than that, I haven't been able to find them anywhere else. Sorry. Perhaps if someone else knows someplace to find the others they can help you.

Eh, yeah, I think the costumes are the only things they have going for them. LOL.

the writing on the episode I saw was pretty good, and true to the comics...but the anime style animation is so awful it just totally puts me off

It wasn't so much that as "I wish this was cancelled soon." If you wish that, why are you watching it?

I'm not watching it.
That was pretty evident by my very first statement: "I wandered in and caught the last five minutes..."
My 5-year old son (Ben) was watching it.
He loves the FF too, and unfortunately this...product...is what the Powers-That-Be at Marvel and CN have decided can pass for an FF cartoon. And since I make it a point to sit beside him at least part of the time he spends in front of the idiot box, chances are I'm gonna see this thing occasionally whether it's to my taste or not.
And when I do happen to see it, I'm gonna come on here and say what I think. That's what this forum is for.
:ff:

The best animated incarnation of the FF, was season 2 of the 90's animated series. They hired new animators over the crappy ones used in season 1, and in season 2 they got rid of alot of the corny stuff from season 1. It's too bad they cancelled that series, if the animation and writing team from season 2 had been able to do more it would have been right up there with the X-men and Spider-man animated series from the 90s.

All those shows back in the day were awesome. These new takes on then having Anime style though, i'm still trying to get used to it.

Wait, the first season is only 6 episodes?

True, but there is also a very LARGE push back towards family in this decade and I think an F4 movie franchise, and animated series can capture that better than others, and better now than back in the 90's.

 Yep. That second season was the best job any studio's done yet with the FF. It might have survived, had season one not been so abominable. :(
In fact in retrospect, I dislike that first season even more than this current monstrosity.

Nothing can top the first season theme song for cheesyness.

Yeah, i'm not to crazy about it. Other than that, i'm pretty much becoming a fan of the show.

Nothing known by man.

Sorry, but "all" the music from Disney's "High School Musical" is the cheesiest known to man. I don't think anything will ever top that, unless its Disney's "High School Musical 2" :cwink:

Eh, either way, i'm not that fond of both.

When i saw Hulk,i was impressed. He was drawn better than i had thought, the episode was good.A bit of smashing action is always good,i could definately see Hulk in the show more often.

As for other heros,i would like to see Ant-Man.Comics wise,Ant-Man was one of the first heros to guest star. The show is good, but getting better.

The latest episode was damn good. Not as good as last week, but easily better than the two weeks before.

GREAT, creative use of Sue's powers. Reed did a lot this week, too. And of course Johnny had lots of funny stuff, some better than others.

"Rocket engines? You wound me."
"Your pants are outta style. Your haircut is stupid. Your momma's SOOOO ugly... " :woot:

Question though - why doesn't Ben seem to be wearing pants that fit? It looks like his zipper's undone and he's showing off his tighty-whities.
