Following the blockbuster 2005 film the recent launch on French channel M6, Marvel’s animated series Fantastic Four has captured the attention of broadcasters worldwide. Marvel, in conjunction with Taffy Entertainment, has just announced a slew of new deals to sell this popular comic book family outside the U.S. Broadcasters in Germany, Singapore, Spain, Canada and even the Middle East have noted the success of the series in France as it has acquired an average of 600,000 viewers and has been rated high on the children’s slot with no sign of slowing.

“We are extremely pleased with the response from broadcasters worldwide,” says Taffy Entertainment’s president of sales and distribution Lionel Marty. “The enormous success of the show, particularly in France on M6, is indisputable evidence that the characters and storylines translate well in every country and in any language where kids love superheroes.”

A product of combined efforts from MoonScoop Productions, Marvel Comics and Cartoon Network Europe, Fantastic Four maintains colorful stories of an unlikely group of people that must brave the unknown terrors of space. A scientist, his best friend and a pair of siblings once changed by cosmic rays transform into the superhuman Mr. Fantastic, The Thing, The Invisible Girl and The Human Torch. The comic book heroes battle evil in classic Marvel character form and come from a long-standing tradition of character franchise success. It’s no wonder distribution and brand managing company Taffy Entertainment, who also represents top-notch animation producers Mike Young Productions and Europe’s own MoonScoop, jumped on the Fantastic bandwagon along with broadcasters. The property has already hit up the feature film division with the sequel due in June of 2007, and with the rise in popularity of the TV show, Taffy and Marvel will also emphasize brand expansion into video games, toys and other officially licensed consumer products in the upcoming year.

“Since the film premiered in 2005, interest in the Fantastic Four brand has continued to grown exponentially,” boasts president and COO of Marvel Studios Michael Helfant. “We’re looking at 2007 as another breakout year for the brand, particularly as word-of-mouth grows for the upcoming feature film sequel.”

It looks like 2007 will be another fantastic year for Fantastic Four!

Hopefully this will make them think about putting it back on the air in America.

I hope they'll just start over with a recognizable FF.
Of course that awfulness is popular in France. They're responsible for it.

Hey! from what I've seen on the show, it looks great, but someone should wipe the 4 gaffitti off the thing's chest and for the artist to draw a normal chin on the torch, like reed's, the torch looks like frickin' yugioh for cryin out loud. with that pencil chin, he look prettier that sue.

Although it was pulled from Cartoon Network's line-up several weeks ago, the Fantastic Four animated series has been picked up in several worldwide markets. Taffy Entertainment, which distributes the show outside the United States, recently announced new deals with YTV and Vrak TV in Canada, Cartoon Network Germany, TV Catalunya and ETB in Spain, TVN Chile, Club RTL in Belgium, MBC in the Middle East, TV12 in Singapore, NTV 7 in Malaysia and Alter Channel in Greece. Fantastic Four will also be seen on Cartoon Network in Europe, Latin America and Asia in 2007.

These broadcasters join M6 in France, where the show has garnered an average of 600,000 viewers and has consistently rated high on M6 children's slots.

Neither Cartoon Network nor Marvel has commented on the show's removal from the Cartoon Network lineup.

I hope the cartoon does well in each and every overseas teritory which will bode well for F4:ROTSS

Ah,i can see it then.I just have to check other channels, since i dont live in the USA:woot: .By a number of countries watching,it looks like the Americans dont know a good cartoon when they see it.Im sticking with the notion that the FF will appear on CN when the movie comes out in American theaters.

FANTASTIC FOUR ANIMATED TO RETURN

Episodes of the Fantastic Four animated series will be released on DVD this spring, and Marvel Studios' Eric J. Rollman told The Continuum that he anticipates the show will return to Cartoon Network shortly thereafter.

Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes Volume 1, a collection of four episodes, will be released on DVD by Fox Home Video on March 27.

Episodes will include "Doomed," "Hard Knocks," "World's Tiniest Heroes" and "De-Mole-Ition."

Fantastic Four debuted on Cartoon Network in September, but was abruptly pulled from the Saturday night Toonami schedule after seven episodes had aired. Cartoon Network did not comment on the schedule move, leading to speculation the show had been canceled.

That's not the case, Rollman said.

"It just went on hiatus," Rollman said. "We just wanted to put it on the air, the seven episodes initially just to sort of get a teaser out there, knowing that 2007 is sort of the year of Fantastic Four."

With Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer due in theaters on June 18, Rollman said he expects the animated series to be back in May or June.

Rollman said he has been pleased with the work of animation studio Moonscoop on the series.

"These guys have really stepped up to the plate and have created a visually arresting show that is an interesting modern-retro thing," he said. "It's like a modern approach to animation because it's got a nice blend of 2D and 3D with the whole sort of retro feel of the design. I feel is that it's a stunning show to look at."

According to promotional material for the DVD, Fantastic Four was averaging nearly one million viewers per episode on Cartoon Network. "It's also doing incredibly well in Europe," Rollman said.

Hmmm, I guess that´s what marketing people refer to as "sinergy"... So, is one million viewers an episode a good number for CN standards?

Excellent, EXCELLENT news!

lol Apple got the date wrong as well and had July 15th listed for a while. No-one is gonna show up on the right day.

I think 1 million viewers is excellent, since i once heard that the average Toonami show has about 321,000 viewers. It would have made sence to air the cartoon immediately before or during the time when the FF2 movie is out in theaters.

A sort of public exposure, and advertising event. Then viewers could then go onto watching the show reguarly,i belive the cartoon was a hit, because i remember reading weblinks, some in this thread saying the cartoon was a hit.

I just want to bump the thread, since i have heard news from a credible source that the cartoon WILL return to Cartoon Network in May or June,in time for the FF:ROTSS movie.

did anyone see my other thread about the cartoon
