Fantastic Four Reboot

Don't forget...

Molecule Man
Psycho Man
Diablo
Blastaar if you use Annihilus
The Inhumans

Tons of good ones.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

Okay, how are those guys interesting as characters?

It takes more flashy powers to make an interesting villain, what is interesting about their personalities is my question.

Plus the Inhumans aren't villains, Maximus the mad would be a villain, so you have to say why he is interesting, rather then why the Inhumans are interesting.

Fantastic Four should be a quadrilogy.

The first movie will not be an origin story, but will introduce us to the Four who are already established superheroes and celebrities. The origin will be shown in flashbacks, explained to us by Reed Richards in the F4's frequent appearances on talk shows. When giant monsters start attacking Manhattan, the F4 start investigating and track the monsters back to Mole Man, who plans to take revenge against those who live above him.

.

But why does Mole Man want revenge on surface world and why is he an interesting character? What kind of personality is he supposed to have?

You expect me to go into that with just a plot outline?

I actually have a 2 film plan for a reboot and a potential 3rd movie. But, I'm saving it for in case I become a director :oldrazz:

Double post

I'm asking those questions in general, I still don't see why he is an interesting character, even in the comics.

The origin will be shown in flashbacks, explained to us by Reed Richards in the F4's frequent appearances on talk shows. When giant monsters start attacking Manhattan, the F4 start investigating and track the monsters back to Mole Man, who plans to take revenge against those who live above him.

The second movie should introduce Doctor Doom, an established ruler of Latveria whose recent developments in the study of the Negative Zone has brought the attention of the UN who fear that he can use it as a weapon. As Doom has kept Latveria isolated from the rest of the world, he is shocked to discover that his old enemy Reed Richards is now a famous superhero and assigned to oversee Doom's research. Flashbacks show that Doom has being experimenting with the zone since his college days, and Reed helped in the early stages. But when Doom went too far and opened a portal that would threaten to destroy the entire college had Reed not intervened (the resulting feedback scarring Doom's face), Doom left for Latveria and was not seen again. Doom, outraged that the UN has interfered in his country's affairs and that Reed is once again meddling in his research, takes over the Baxter Building, turning the Four's advanced home security against them, and begins opening a portal to the Negative Zone that threatens to engulf New York City. The F4 defeat Doom, who is sucked into the portal as it closes..

The third movie begins with Reed, wracked with guilt over Doom's disappearance, desperately seeking a way to access the Negative Zone. But when he accidentally brings Anihillus, a paranoid, power-mad dictator who plans to destroy the Earth which he views as a threat against the Zone, Reed has to take the F4 into the Negative Zone, where he meets Blastaar, an enemy of Anihillus who commands an army following the decisions of their new ruler ...Doctor Doom. Doom agrees to save the earth, but for the sake of Latveria, nothing else. When Anihillus is defeated, Doom is suddenly arrested by the US Army, who now control Latveria, and Doom swears revenge against Richards once again.

In the fourth movie, a mysterious being named the Silver Surfer has been spotted all over the earth, seemingly preparing landing sites for an unknown entity. When the Four confront the Surfer, they are warned that a powerful being named Galactus is coming to devour the Earth. The Surfer only offers one piece of advice; leave the planet or be consumed by Galactus. Meanwhile, Doom is a prisoner of the US army. Creating a destructive weapon out of common household appliances, he escapes. Upon discovering the Silver Surfer's warning, and awed by the power that he possesses, Doom quickly gets to work analysing the remnant cosmic energy that the Surfer leaves in his wake, and develops a device that steals the Surfer's powers. The Fantastic Four try to stop him, but are overpowered. The Surfer experiences a change of heart while under the care of Alicia Masters, and when Galactus finally arrives, stands against him. Of course, when Galactus arrives, he isn't happy that Doom has stolen the power of his herald, and quickly defeats him. The Fantastic Four now have to defeat Galactus, by obtaining the Ultimate Nullifier, which the Sufer says is kept on Galactus' ship. When the device is obtained, it's technology is too advanced for even Richards to understand, so he needs Doom's help. Doom initially refuses, but when he realises that petty revenge means nothing on a cosmic scale, he agrees. When Galactus notices that the Nullifier has been stolen, it seems that the game is up. But Doom stands against Galactus (in a scene reminiscent of his battle against the Beyonder in Secret Wars) Doom is eventually killed, but it buys enough time for the Four to use the Nullifier and destroys Galactus. With the Surfer free, he flies off into space to rebuild the lives of the inhabitants of planets lost to Galactus.

Um, is Ben, Sue and Johnny in your movies....?

My core character in FF films would be Reed, I have to agree in that aspect of his outline. But, the others need story lines also. In my reboot idea, I would center Reed, Sue, and Victor Von Doom as the main characters of the first 2 films (Victor would not be a villain til film 2). But, I would have side stories for Ben and Johnny, though I do think Johnny is harder to make a major story line past not being looked at as a kid or being less of a hot head/bigger part of the team.

I would encourage people to read this TPB from the Marvel Knights issues...

They would all have plots, I didn't feel like taking hours establishing character arcs for four characters in a single post. These are just basic plot outlines, not scripts.

never too impressed by Marvel Knights FF or Ultimate FF, just stick to the original series - Stan and Jack, and a little John B. is all you need!

If you want good character development, IMO the Marvel Knights editions were the best...but some just didn't get into character development, too much thinking on the part of the characters not enough action I guess. But, I agree the UFF sucks. It was evident that the movies "tried" and I say "tried" but didn't quite get the character development that was done so well in the Marvel Knights. I guess it was hard to marry the background of the UFF series with an actual good series.

not to beat a dead horse, but while Michael C. is shorter than Ioan, in the Thing costume with the thick soled boots, he WAS at least the same size or a tad taller.

To some one who grew up with the classic Kirby Thing, this height does make sense - I guess it just depends upon your point of reference.

Remember, Kirby based the Thing's look and character upon himself, a "little scrapper"!

Sorry bout the late reply, but yeah it all depends. i just dont see how being a big man without bein tall is that intimidating, especially to a 6'3 julian mcmahon. he's almost twice the size of mike chiklis, but for some reason they want us to beleive he is intimidated by him.

Much as I hate reboot/recat threads, I would like to see Kristianna Loken as Sue.

That would be weird...

Have the person that brought Sue to the big screen, come back as a minor character in the reboot?

yikes...

Much as I hate reboot/recat threads, I would like to see Kristianna Loken as Sue.

But why isn't a reboot warranted in this case?

The movies strayed a lot from the source material, in many bad ways, the actors were not good, the critics hated those movies, the last one did not do well fiscally, etc.

What positive things can you say about those movies? Why shouldn't they be rebooted? What quality did they bring?

I'm talking in principle. I hate thses types of discussions in general, in principle. I don't like where they can lead, such as-oh, rebooting a successful franchise the second a studio & director can't see eye-to-eye. And truth be told, I enjoyed the FF movies. I was entertained. Despite the flaws & deviations. I just think Loken would (grits teeth) make a better Sue. Same as I would love to see Sanaa Lathan, N'Bushe Wright or Nona Gaye as Ororo Munroe. I liked the X-movies & am not a fan of recast/reboot threads in general, but that's my opinion.

Irrelevant, if someone has to justify why a franchise should be rebooted, then someone else should have to explain why it shouldn't be rebooted. I don't think reboot is always the solution, but I don't see why they should instantly be dismissed.

You may found the FF films but I thought they made unacceptable breaks with the comics, particularly in terms of Doom and Galactus, who are very strong villains in the comics, but very weak in the films.

Can you give any reasons why this franchise should not be rebooted in particular? Why are Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba and Julian McMahon worth keeping around?

Hmm-did I say that? Did I say one word as to whether or not this particular franchise should or should not be rebooted? Have I ever in recent weeks spoken for or against the rebooting of ANY particular franchise other than Spider-Man? Or did I simply say-REPEATEDLY-that I'm not a fan of reboot talk in general? Which did I say?

But this Fantastic Four thread, which means we should be discussing the Fantastic Four movies, not reboots in general.

With that in mind, why shouldn't the Fantastic Four franchise not be rebooted at this point?

Not saying he should play him, but maybe he could.
He just reminds me of Reed Richards here.

I do like this! Especially the Quadrilogy angle. I would change up a few things.

Casting in General
Cast real actors, insomuch as someone who believably has pepper on the sides as Reed, and a woman who believably could command the respect that Sue does. Get a thorough character actor as Doom, someone who can research his narcissist psychoses and feels comfortable not having their face seen most of the film.

Fantastic Four: First Family - "F4"

Begin the movie with the first private space flight, but expand the ship to include a number of people, with the only survivors of the incident and crash being the safe Victor and the partially exposed four. From here we go forward, where Victor hires new sci-guy, Arthur Molkevik to work the exposed samples of stuff from the expedition.

The four quickly discover their powers, test them, experiment with them, play with them to both positive and negative effect and eventually have to go public, becoming celebrities before ending up at each other's throats, cue Moleman-made quakes and monsters, adversity draws them together, F4 go into action, pwn Mole Man, new Richards foundation takes off, they purchase the baxter building, and bada-boom badabing. Fantastic Four. Post Credits, Doom returns to Latveria and is welcomed as the 'Von Doom' legacy.

Act I: Gaining Powers and Celebrity, cheap Pier 4 HQ
Act II: Infighting, getting beaten by mole things
Act III: Revenge on the Mole Man

Supporting Cast: Alicia Masters, HERBIE, Yancy Street Gang, Wyatt Wingfoot

The Fantastic Four vs Dr. Doom

Flashback to young Reed and Victor with their college research into the Negative Zone. Present Day, Doom revives it, and starts using it as a weapon. Turns out the tech is responsible for the disappearance of earlier civilizations, ie Atlantis, as watery as it is, isn't just sunk, it's sucked into the Negative Zone. Introduce Namor. Introduce Annihilus.

Doom has the world's governments cornered until the stuff goes out of control and the four manage to play everyone against each other. The "Frightful Four" here are Doom, Annihlius, Namor and Blastaar. Doom survives, but disgraced and depowered, Latveria under sacntion. Atlantis is returned to the positive zone, but still sunken. Blastaar and Annihilus are annihilated. Post Credits Doom gets into some bloody runes.

Act I: Journey to the Negative Zone meet players
Act II: Explore Atlantis, Love Triangles, Frightful 4
Act III: Battle in temporarily surfaced Atlantis

Supporting Cast: All return, Namorita, Uatu, Alyssa Moy

The Fantastic Four: Ultimate Nullifier

Life is beautiful... except for that Silver Surfer announcing Earth's doom. The F4 recover a crashed ship and meet some Skrull, and their prisoner of war Ronan, having escaped, barely surviving the destruction of the Skrull homeworld. Serious conflicts of interest , Sue being preggers has them replace her temporarily with Lyja, even when fighting one of her own, Kl'rt, the Super Skrull who absorbs the four's powers by being around them.

When Galactus finally shows up, it takes everything to get the Skrull and Kree to work together, and the four do it so soundly, that Kl'rt summons all his troops, including the US President, many high ranking military officials and Nick Fury's superior to reveal themselves as Skrull and distract Galactus long enough for Reed to avenge their homeworld. All this while Franklin is being born.

Doom also steps in, and wrecks shop and holds off Galactus with exceeding "is it magic?" pwnage, acknolwedging that he will be back to wreck shop on the F4 "soon." Frankie Raye also offers herself up as herald, to further delay Galactus' destruction of Earth. Perhaps the whole last act is people trying to stop galactus while Reed finishes duplicating the Ultimate Nullifier.

Special Note: Galactus has his purple iconic helmet at the very least.

Act I: Aliens Exist, fallout from that. Meet Silver Surfer.
Act II: Superskrull vs Ronan, Torch between Lyja and Frankie
Act III: Galactus arrives, sacrifices made

Supporting Cast: Most return, Frankie Raye, Lyja, Silver Surfer.

Fantastic Four: World War Four - "WW4"

While raising a kid, Ben getting married to Alicia, The Fantastic Four find themselves at the center of attention in a world rapidly going crazy. Their visit to Wakanda goes badly, and their discovery of Attilan goes worse. Doom returns, revitalized and vengeful, sparks aggressiveness from Wakanda, Attilan, Atlantis and the United States, all in all directions. Intro Doombots. While separated, the four (five including little Franklin) manage to work together anyway, and eventually save the world from itself, at the cost of Doom's life, once and for all. And Sue's pregnant again.

Supporting Cast: Black Panther, Storm, Blackbolt, Medusa, Crystal, Kristoff Vernard, cameos by mains from other Marvel films.

Act I: Wakanda Trip, introduce other "countries"
Act II: Group split up, different countries, different missions, working different angles
Act III: Major battle on American soil begins, is quickly diffused by combined... teamwork something something. Yeah. Everyone goes home happy.

Overall

A little lore heavy, I know, but why the heck not, honestly?
