Fast 8

The fans of the Fast & Furious SAGA are the best fans in the world... Since I became the Producer in 2008, you have been with me every step of the way... literally giving me feedback that proved invaluable. Thank you.

My producing partner Neal would love for me to just sign off on a director, but this is too special a franchise, so these matters have to be very carefully handled. To be clear, NO ONE has been offered to helm Fast 8 yet... let alone seen a script.

Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision... they have been like family... I promised the studio I would deliver one last Trilogy to end the saga.

I will announce the directors on my next post...

He said "family" Everyone take a drink!

Eh, ignore list and ya'll stop quoting it.

Also, the director who did both Raid films would be so great.

I think he'll be shooting Blister around that time. It's another Indoneasian action film with his Raid star Iko Uwais.

With Paul Walker's death they obviously had to change their original plans. I'm pretty sure 7 originally was supposed to be the start of a new trilogy and the series would end with the ninth movie.

Do they really have enough material to carry on without Paul to a 10th film?

Only way to keep the story going is having Dom and the crew working with/for the government (specifically Russell's character from part 7). I can't see them going back to drug dealers and **** after all this. But I'm REALLY not here for Statham returning. Hope he's not a major part of this trilogy. And if they're gonna make these last few films enjoyable they gotta bring it back down a bit (let's be real, part 7 was wayyyyy off the charts. I know the charm of the series is its ridiculousness but the last film was something else)

The latest from Vin's Facebook:

"It is no secret that my good friend Justin and I have been very intensely discussing the trilogy, as we have dreamed it for almost a decade. We know that when we re-team we will shock the world. It is also no secret that he is finishing Trek for JJ and won’t be done in time for us to make the date the studio wanted me to announce of April 14th 2017.

This would leave 8 without an obvious go to director…

I will share something crazy that my mother said six months ago after the studio had me announce the date for 8 to the world… “ Either you direct 8 yourself... or don’t do it.” Some of you vinbook pioneers are all too familiar with my mother’s wisdom, as I have posted her sayings in the past on Our page… but I wrote it off as just a mother’s love and belief in me, though she has seen first hand what I've done to make these movies defy expectations and become increasingly successful, even when the studio thought I was crazy... haha.
Back to the matter of 8… First and most importantly is the SCRIPT, which has to be great. Hopefully the writer will deliver something within the next two weeks… before my Witch Hunter press tour begins. There has always been the desire by Paul to have Rob direct one more, this is what fueled my campaign… I believe that he can and would reset the franchise nicely, returning to what was the core of the film in the beginning... racing. He would also handle the Brian O’connor issue with integrity, given that he and David Ayer were the ones who initially created that beloved character in the first place.

Ultimately we all want the best film to honor what we have created and what you the audience has adopted as your favorite franchise. I will leave this matter in the studios hands for a moment while I release The Last Witch Hunter and start production of the long awaited “Xander Returns”.

Again, we make these films with Our hearts."

I didn't even think about this until Vin name-dropped the guy, but maybe they can bring in David Ayer to direct one.

I'd love that, but he's probably still going to be busy with Suicide Squad when this is ready to start filming.

Deadline and THR have a couple of pieces basically saying that Uni's unhappy with Vin's Facebook posts, Rob Cohen's not in the running, and that Uni's looking at either Louis Leterrier or Ericson Core.

Eh, Uni can be pissed off all they want, but this is his franchise. There is no ''family'' without Vin. :oldrazz:

I ain't showing up to see Luda and Tyrese. Also, I highly doubt The Rock would do one without him as well.

I'd take Leterrier over Cohen in a heartbeat. He may have started this bad boy with the first film but has been doing absolutely terrible work ever since.

Is Ericson Core a character from 'Tumblr: The Movie'?

They need to just merge the Jurassic World universe with the F&F universe and do a crossover film with Diesel and Prat fighting dinosaurs. Easy 2.5 billion right there.

Louis Lettier is decent.
As I said I dont think the director matters much, but Lettier has directed some movies I enjoy.

Lettier would be nice. And yeah, Rob Cohen's recent output sucks ass through a Sour-punch Straw.

Adam Wingard. He can bring Dan Stevens with him. The third Shaw brother. LOL.

Winguard would be awesome, but I suspect we'll get one of the other two.
