F. Gary Gray is such an insanely talented director. This is great news for the franchise.

Yeah, he hit Straight Outta Compton straight outta the park (get it?).

Aside from Statham and The Rock I'm not sure who else could carry a spin off. The others work because of the family dynamic.

Prequels? Hwut?

Spinoffs and prequels are a dumb dumb dumb idea. They did a spinoff called Tokyo Drift. I liked that movie but clearly audiences only care about seeing the core group. And since we lost Paul, Mia, Han, and Gisele, the group is already small enough as is.

Shaw is a bad guy. There's no way he's getting a spinoff.

Some spin-off possibilities would be:
-Tokyo Drift 2
-Hobbs spin-off
-Toretto origin story
-Shaw Brothers
-Roman Pearce and Tej Parker team-up movie

To be honest, only one i would be interested would be Tokyo Drift 2, any spin-off with just the Rock or Statham is only going to feel like one of their other generic action films. So far, what's been helping the brand has been the family dynamic, give each character their oun 90+minutes story and all the problems in the writing become visible.

Not hard to spin it since he's played by Statham who is traditionally a hero in his films. Plus his villainy wasn't exactly unjustified.

I want a 70s set prequel. Muscle cars abound.

With Dom's daddy.

I'm all for spinoffs and prequels as long as they're good and make sense. As far as I'm concerned, that one movie "Better Luck Tomorrow" and Tokyo Drift is Han's prequel. A Giselle prequel would be hot but I don't see it carrying a whole movie. Maybe a prequel with Letty's time working with the feds could work as well.

A Tej and Rome movie would be fun (or maybe just a short.) Hobbes is a no-brainer.

I'm also here for a TV series. I'm surprised that hasn't been thrown around on the idea board yet.

Hobbes is guaranteed a spinoff at this point, since it's been in talks for a while. Plus maybe Dwayne Johnson will finally have his own action franchise if it's successful.

Vin Diesel posted a Facebook video earlier of himself and I'm assuming Universal high-ups having a "franchise summit". In the background is a collage of still photos including a shot of Angelina Jolie as Maleficent...

"Fast and Furious 8" wants to shoot in Cuba (EXCLUSIVE) http://bit.ly/1RaTIKq

Universal’s “Fast and Furious” franchise may be going where no major studio film has gone before.
While plans are still being worked out, Variety has learned that the studio behind the hugely popular series wants to shoot part of the eighth film in the “Fast and Furious” series in Cuba.

The filmmakers have made a research trip to the country to look at possible locations, though an insider cautions that things are in the exploratory phase.
“Universal Pictures is currently in the process of seeking approval from the United States and Cuban governments to explore shooting a portion of the next installment of the ‘Fast & Furious’ series in Cuba,” a spokeswoman for the studio said.

That's odd since Maleficent is a Disney film.
