Fast 8

I'm gonna say it right now. This is where they need to wrap it up with the Shaw family.

No, but you haven't met their Grandmother yet... Played by Helen Mirren!

I honestly have no idea what a hobbs spinoff would be about, other than the Rock just... bringing it. Like... geez. I can't even imagine.

Roman & Tej (with new hot hacker girl) would be an AWESOME spinoff. I'd go see that, though it'd naturally be a bit more lighthearted than the main franchise, because... well... Roman.

Letty in more of a gritty fight girl memory recovery type thriller. I'd go see that. She's gotta have plenty ghosts from her memory loss days.

And then Dom just cameos here and there and then come back for another big one. Only problem is these roles actually are not very forgiving of aging, not just because of the physicality, but because you're supposed to be the epitome of cool, and cool looks a lot different when you're pushing 50 than when you're pulling 30.

I think F. Gary Gray is the best thing to happen here. After the planes, I'm left wondering... what else is there to do? Cars in space? I mean, we've yet to see the space and underwater levels of this franchise, but the answer, I think is going to require a bit of a softer touch to avoid spiraling into the stratosphere, perhaps literally. I mean, we don't need the crew to become secret agents, do we?

Of course, then you think about Dom and Co racing down an underwater tunnel as it begins to collapse on itself and the water rushes after them and it's kinda like... okay... okay, I'll watch. Happily.

The surprising thing about this franchise is the absence of black actresses (outside of Nathalie Emmanuel, the hacker girl from Furious 7) in the franchise. One would think that with the film's rap infused soundtrack and racing cars that it would attract a black actress of note into the franchise. Now I don't think they would be able to attract Zoe Saldana (I like her, but no more franchises for her), or Lupita Nyong'o or Gugu Mbatha Raw (both IMO may be a bit too sophisticated for a street racing hip hop infused movie).

Hopefully the success of the franchise will lure a black actress of note to the franchise. I've always thought that Rosario Dawson would be a good addition to the franchise.

This franchise has been around for 15 years and yet only one Black woman in the entire franchise and she wasn't even introduced until Furious 7. As an Asian American, we are highly represented in the franchise with characters like Han, many of the characters in Tokyo Drift, Rick Yune's character in the very first film, Tony Jaa. You've had Black men in Roman, Tej and the characters played by Ja Rule, Djimon Hounsou and Bow Wow as well as Afro-Latinos in Don Omar, Tego Calderon and Laz Alonzo. Vince Diesel and The Rock are part Black. Jordana Brewster, Eva Mendes and Michelle Rodriguez are Latinas. Also a couple of Brits in Jason Statham and Luke Evans. Elsa "Miss Thor" Pataky is Spanish. Gal Gadot is Israeli.

A franchise this diverse in the racial makeup of it's characters has only had one black woman in it's history? How is that possible? Maybe that changes with a black director.

I wonder if the black site they've locked Deckard in is buried under the snow. I'd love a snow fortress assault with Hobbs wearing his regular 10 sizes too tight Underarmour **** and tac vest ensemble while everyone else is in snow gear.

Tyrese/Roman- Shouldn't he be hibernating in this weather?

You make a good point and I agree, bring on another black actress.

Except for Dom, who in the spirit of their alpha male contest, would be in his traditional skin tight white T or wifebeater. It also needs Snowmobile's, lots of Snowmobile's!

Dom- I'm not cold. I got family.

Letty- Roman's got gangrene!

Yeah right lol. That's what James Wan said too.

Haha yeah that was same reaction.

I'll believe it when I see it but I doubt the new one will feel that different especially since the last 3 movies have made so much money while being so tonally similar

I don't know what a Hobbs film and sequels could be about besides he and a team taking down extreme baddies but it's what I want the most!

I'll still watch any new film but my preference is just that the franchise ends and goes off into just one spin-off with the Rock, Vin or crew can make cameos or have small roles but that's it.

As long as it has some cool music and some fast cars, i'm in.

I've kinda lost interest in side movies for individual characters. Keep it all main ensemble until you hit 10.

I mean I'm in until the end. Even if theyre not good. The only difference will be whether I watch them in theaters/pay at all. I've seen every installment

I wish I'd seen them all in the theater from the beginning. That didn't come until Fast 4. But starting with 4, I never missed a premiere night.

Still pushing for the franchise to bring in another black actress. The franchise could be the career boost that a bunch of these black actresses need. When I say this, I think of names like Sanaa Lathan, Meagan Good, Lauren London and somewhat to a lesser degree (although she now has a stable role as Claire Temple in the Marvel Netflix series) Rosario Dawson. And those are the names of actresses right off the top of my head who need a career boost. The franchise won't attract Viola Davis, Kerry Washington, Zoe Saldana, Lupita Nyong'o or Gugu Mbatha Raw. It might attract Taraji P. Henson as she has expressed an interest in being involved in a major blockbuster film, but with the success of Empire, she doesn't need a career boost.

When I saw that Minority Report was getting canceled, I thought "Meagan Good would be a nice addition to the next Fast and Furious film." Looking at her resume, her biggest hit is "Stomp the Yard" and that was in 2005.

I am wondering why it's taken 15 years and seven movies for a franchise as racially diverse as this to have a black actress. It's not like there wasn't one available.
