Glad that a chase on ice has been confirmed, maybe the Fast series can deliver on a brilliant concept where Die Another Day failed.

"We’re in Cuba. In the scene, Dom’s (Vin Diesel) younger cousin Fernando, a likeable chap in his 20s, is about to have his ride towed away by some thugs (led by a petrol-head named Raldo) — until his cuz and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) step in. Apparently Fernando had made a deal with these guys to repair his car, but the former couldn’t pay the bill in time… so they’re taking the car as payment. Dom makes the shark an offer : They race, and if Dom loses, Raldo and his guys get to take Dom’s car (not his cousins) and if Dom wins, he gets Raldo’s ride. Raldo is all for it – so long as Dom drives the cousins’ beat up old Skyline not his own dependable ride. How can Dom beat Raldo, when the latter has the “fastest car on the island”? Simple : it’s not about the car, but who’s behind the wheel, we’re informed. Dom rips everything out of the car – including the radiator – and straps a propane tank (from a Barbecue) to it. Can you guess the rest?"

Charlize Theron has officially joined the cast “Fast 8,” the next installment in Universal’s long-running “Fast and Furious” franchise, sources confirm to Variety.

Details behind the role are vague, but she’s expected to be playing some sort of villain. The studio went to the star early for the role, but because the script was still being written, Theron did not want to commit to anything until a finished draft was completed.

Lucas Black became a series regular for 8 and 9 when he signed his deal to cameo in Furious 7. Kurt Russell is confirmed too.

if it's true, the podcast 'How Did this get made' called it. they really wanted "Furiosa" to join the Fast franchise. I wonder if she's a relative of the Shaws. this is going to be so weird without Paul Walker. i don't know that i liked him as an actor. but he was an essential part of the F&F formula.

Walker was a great fit for this franchise with these people. The chemistry between the "family" has been fun to watch.

And see, this is my thing. They've got him signed for 8 and 9. Fair enough. But are Universal, on their end, obligated to use his character? Or can they decide they don't want him? I took the contract as more of a "Well, we've got him if we want him, but we may not want him."
