‘Fast 6′ Scores Universal’s Biggest In China

EXCLUSIVE: I’ve just learned that Fast & Furious 6 opened #1 in China on Friday and is on track for a $24 million first weekend which would be that country’s 2nd highest three-day 2013 debut behind Iron Man 3. It also scored Universal’s highest ever opening in that territory after grossing $6.9M Friday. This helps makes up for the studio’s inability to lobby the Chinese to release big toon hit Despicable Me 2 there. China is the 66th territory where Fast 6 opened #1 (including North America). The estimated international cume through Saturday is $485.3M and Fast 6 should cross $500M at the overseas box office tomorrow. Domestically, the cume through the weekend is an estimated $237.6M and the global worldwide gross is projected at $740.8M through Sunday. China is the last stop for the pic which has become Universal’s highest grossing franchise in the studio’s 101-year history.

Finally saw Furious 6 with the wife last night. Boy did we love it. That cast together is just pure joy to watch. She's a really huge Statham fan, so having him at the end, killing Han just blew the s*** out of her mind. I knew it was coming, so it was fun for me to see the surprise for her. Now we're both eager for number 7.

I didn't know there were shorts as part of the franchise. I'll have to grab those this week.

Denzel was offered a cameo in F&F7 but turned it down. Oh well. I don't think he would have fit in with the tone of these movies to be honest.

i personally don't mind he turned it down, do we really need more people? the main cast is large enough. i don't see cameos really working here, unless they're easter eggs that don't detract from storyline, or maybe have some more races and have some famous actors as drivers? i dunno

Denzel in a film like this would be inspired to the max. However, I just don't see him actually agreeing to star in this.

I agree with to an extent with regards to the main cast being big enough. However who knows what the plans are for the cast and what path the story will take... Who know what will happen to the current cast, killed off e.t.c. I don't expect them to Kill Dom or Brian off any time soon but I can definitely see The Rock as a possible victim although i do feel he was an aspired addition to the cast. I can just see him as expendable in a story point of view.
