Favorite Movie from the Year you were Born.

Much as I love Batman Returns (again, one of the most important movies of my...well, not just childhood, but life), I've always known that it's a "love it or hate it" movie, and I can see why it just doesn't work for some people. On the other hand, if you don't enjoy Wayne's World or Aladdin, there's something wrong with you.

Of course I enjoy Wayne's World and Aladdin. I did name Aladdin as my Favorite film of 1992. I just think that other years of the 90s had a better overall list of films.

^Oh, I wasn't slngling you out specifically, it's just a general rule. I've been trying to think about other movies from '92 that I love, but I haven't come up with any. I mean, I like The Muppet Christmas Carol and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, but we're hardly talking about the same level of quality there. I don't want to say that it was a bad year, because every year has a bunch of great movies and a bunch of lousy ones, so I tend to avoid saying "___ was a bad year for movies/___ was a great year for movies." It's certainly not up with '94 or '99, though..

1984:

Terminator
Ghostbusters
Gremlins
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
The Karate Kid
1984 was indeed a very iconic year in entertainment, on TV you had The Cosby Show and Transformers and in music Michael Jackson's Thriller was all over the place.

I was in the 8th grade and in the school year you'd see kids parading around with notebooks, T-shirts, lunch pails of Ghostbusters, Gremlins.

Especially now that you have posted in this thread for the rest of eternity you can only watch movies from the year you were born. Muahahaha ;):oldrazz:

*Or you can just watch other movies outside that year what ever suits you. But you better watch Wayne's World, it's kinda a sin that you have not.

Yeah, I know I have to. I've seen bits and pieces of it, and it's great. But I have to make sure I see the rest.

Yeah But PW hated it, and Dr. J doesn't care for it too much.

It's two-faced (no pun intended) for me.

As a Batman fan, it's very underwhelming. Especially since B89 is so satisfying. Batman is a side character and it's focused way too much on the villains. And he kills and contradicts himself at the end. Among other nitpicks like 80% of the film taking place in Gotham Square. :cmad:

But as a film fan without the Bat fan goggles, it's actually a very well made film. Very artistic and I love the gothic aspect of it. The Tim Burton stamp and the fact that this is more of his film is very apparant and that's the upside and downside to it. Although, BR is definitely more refined and polished than B89.

But on both angles, the Bruce/Selina relationship was handled very well and Pfeiffer remains the best female character in a comic book film ever. And Keaton is still Batman. He's just as badass.

"Things change."

Oh, and Christopher Walken. You just can't go wrong there.

Add in hands down the best part of the movie...Elfman's Score. To this day remains my favorite elfman vintage score.

It's the best SNL skit movie...but that's not really saying much I guess...the second one was funny too, but the first is better.

It's worrying that I know exactly what film you mean from that picture alone...

Are you kidding me? Everyone should know this film, Steven Seagal as a chef, Tommy Lee Jones rocking out to air guitar in a studded leather jacket, Gary Busey in drag, Colm Meaney as Colm Meaney and it got two Oscar nominations!

Oh, yeah. His score is awesome. It about equals B89 for me.

I love the opening music with the Warner Bros. Logo.

The music still sounds like Batman.

This is sig worthy.

That music IS Batman to me. Much like Williams theme IS Superman.

I actually like it more than B89...but they're both awesome. Goldenthal's music wasn't too shabby either.

Goldenthal was ok. Although a lot of his cues where recycled from Demolition Man. I highly suggest people listen to his Alien 3 score. Based on that, I would've hired him for Batman too.

I can attest, his alien 3 score was great. I liked batman forever, but B&R had some highlights too.

His score for Interview with a Vampire is absolutely phenomenal.

Public Enemies was my favorite of his...although it was like, 15 minutes of music :o
