I know it's not a movie, but Lost (Michael Giacchino) had an incredible soundtrack

Does anybody listen to scores from films they disliked? AVP:R is godawful crap, but Brian Tyler's score is one of the most robust and kick-ass action scores in recent years. It's better than the film in every way. If only the movie matched the score...

Mostly recently Thor: The Dark World has disappointed me and yet again, Brian Tyler has given us an excellent score.

The Taking of Pelham 123 (1974)
The Lone Ranger (2013)

In no particular order:

-The Dark Knight Trilogy

Michael Giachinno overall is great! His themes for Star Trek and Up are amazing.

I have many favorites, but here's a few.

Spider-Man Trilogy
The Dark Knight Trilogy
Sunshine
28 Days Later
Jacob's Ladder
Blade Runner
Terminator 1/2
The Crow

I don't generally notice scores of movies unless they basically overpower the visual I'm looking at, I feel like a good score should just mesh into the scene where I don't even notice it. I would say the Dark Knight trilogy has certain score moments where it's so loud and stands out (the Dunnnn - duhhhhh thing thats like the theme i guess?) but those are done well so I have no problem.

Where I've noticed scores most are usually nature documentaries, most notably Planet Earth (George Fenton) and March of the Penguins. That series and film are perfection to me in footage/narration/and score coming together seamlessly. (I prefer the Sigourney Weaver Planet Earth not poophead David Attenborough :D )

Certain animation that I've watched into the ground really sticks with me and I love as well. Those would be Up and Wall-E which are another case where the music goes so well with the films, I love how Up uses a similar musical theme but altered 5 or 6 times depending on what's going on on screen. Wall-E I really enjoy the old song they use to open with and since there isn't any dialogue the first 40ish minutes the score/music really keeps you around, or me at least haha.

Right now, I'm pretty obsessed with the Frozen soundtrack, lol.

8 Mile and Hustle And Flow. Both were just outstanding in showcasing great hip hop.

I'd like to thank you for actually knowing the difference between score and soundtrack lol, it got so annoying back when there was that "best superhero theme" contest back in the misc. film section when he guy running it would pit bits of score against actual songs when they're really completely different forms of music.
