Me and a buddy of mine, were discussing bands of the 90's and who we thought were the best vocalists.... just curious to see who you guys consider the best....

My personal faves are Layne from AIC, and Chris from Soundgarden.....

Layne Stanley
Chris Cornell
Eddie Vedder
Billy Corgan
CJ Snare

Oh, God. That's a tough question. :csad:
My 90s iTunes playlist helped me compile this list:
  • Brandon Boyd - Incubus
  • Kurt Cobain - Nirvana
  • Billy Corgan - Smashing Pumpkins
  • Chris Cornell - Soundgarden
  • Stephan Jenkins - Third Eye Blind
  • Anthony Kiedis - Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • Alanis Morisette
  • Dolores O'Riordan - The Cranberries
  • Gwen Stefani - No Doubt
  • Thom Yorke - Radiohead

I almost forgot: Phil Anselmo from PanterA

I've been listening to all early/mid 90s today.... christ sake do I miss this music

But he contributed to the development of rap breakdowns in rock music. :down:whatever:

Layne is def. my top, Cornell is good too, and though I'm not a big fan of Pearl Jam...Eddie Vedder was good too. I also thought Gavin Rosdale (sp?) from Bush was good. And let's not forget Scott Wieland from STP. And I'd also have to throw in Anthony Kiedis from RHCP.

Chris Cornell chews up the others and spits them out, yo.
I don't know what the hell happened to him.

And, while I really respect and admire a lot of things about Billy Corgan, it sure has been nice not having to hear his fingernails-on-chalkboard voice anymore.

Mike Patton
Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth
Warrel Dane of Nevermore
Peter Steele of Opeth
Scott "Wino" Weinrich of The Obsessed and Spirit Caravan
Zach De La Rocha

RIP Layne...... I get sick everytime I remember that he is dead.... great great vocalist....

It's my favorite time for music. So many great bands....and so many great memories and good times surround them. It's too bad that so many greats are no longer around like AIC (though they are touring again without Layne I've heard), Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden (Though Audioslave isn't bad), Smashing Pumpkins, Pantera... *sigh*

Cornell was great no doubt...but I liked Soundgarder back in the Badmotorfinger days more. :(

That's so true! Layne died, then Dimebag died, Cornell lost his voice that one time. . . man, the 90's were. . . EXTREME!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Smashing Pumpkins are recording a new album, though. I want to hear that.

Louder Than Love and Superunknown are the ultimate! :cmad:

Man, I could be 89 years old with cancer and both legs amputated and if someone turned on My Wave I'd still jump up and start rocking out.

I assume you are talking about Mad Season? They put out one album and consisted of band members from Pearl Jam and Screaming Trees as well. I lost my tape of that and haven't been able to find it on CD. :(

Mellon Collie And the Infinite Sadness -- now that was an epic album!

I know it won't be better, but I'd be cool if they entire band did a reunion tour.

:up::up::up:

1979 is probably my favorite song of all time.

And we don't know just where our bones will rest
To dust I guess
Forgotten and absorbed into the earth below

You my friend, have just raised a few pegs in my book.

I'm the same way with anything from Alice in Chains. Dirt was just an amazing CD.

Listening to their unplugged CD right now....

Dirt will be next

followed by "alice in chains" otherwise known as the three legged dog cd..

then Jar of Dirt

then Facelift

followed by their singles off of the last action hero soundtrack and clerks...
